I totally agreed with enseng. Mr Tan takes ages to complete a house reno. So when I had my 3 housewarmings, pepople asked me how much had I invested in house reno and they were "WOW"~! Some of them wanted to get his contacts from me but I would somehow advise them that he's a slow coach so just be mentally prepared if engaged him to do the house. I am still holding onto his payment till CNY. See if there's anymore defects to mend or not. enseng > I don't think it's useful to write b/w with datelines. There might be pro and con too. What if clients want to change design/concept last min. I understood that there are difficult customers who "suka-suka" change designs every now and then. SummerHols, I hope your furby will get well soon. Not easy for him to come to this stage. Be strong and I hope the best for him k.

Hi summer, just ended my 3 housewarming last sat. Very tiring indeed. Then tonight got a mini xmas gathering with his friends at home. Quite happening but extuasting loh. No little mouse yet (better not)..haha... house too big too handle and we need more time to spend with each other first. Lift changes alot when new life comes in. No more "daddy" 1st liew. Haha.. My contractor came to my house for housewarming too. Got a big AP and a gift from him too. Not bad huh. What about you? How's everything?

Hi VVIX, Mr Tan's quote on the whole is considered reasonably cheap already. However, I would suggest you to get several quotes before deciding which contractor/Id to sign up with. I had some freebies from Mr Tan. You might want to negotiate with him. He charged me 14ft each (top & bottom) for $2475. It's not accurate to cite my quote. You should collect at least 4-5quotes. Not too many too else you would get more confused. I have moved in since early Oct and so far so good. not much complaints.

Hi summer, it's kinda hard to go marketing esp when so tired after work. I get my mum to buy for me in the market and hubby to help bring them back for me to make dinner (occasionally only loh). Other houses still undergo renovation so my house still needs heaps of cleaning. Terrible. It's a nice morning to sleep late as it's raining but gotta work. Argh....

Summer, if you think yours is big...then mine is ......? Really a pain to do the house cleaning..never ending loh. Im a clean freak...my hubby also bo bian me. He tries to sweep and mop the floor for me while I clean up on other areas. The entire block and other blocks nearby are still undergoing renovation...so we reckon it would take another 1-2years before our house can be really "clean". Even my neighbours also gave up on cleaning their houses. My wallpaper and more furniture are coming in tomorrow. I delay taking pics cos wanna wait for more stuffs to move in before showing you the changes mah. Im going to nail some painting and craftswork bought from Bali onto the walls too. Bear with me k.

Hey summer..Im back finally. My contractor will be bringing a forumer (who I know) to visit my house. Think my hous will be a show flat for his potential clients soon liew. Good time to get his advise on some maintenance issue. Else it's so hard to get him to come visit me. Hahaha. HB & I might break up our guests into groups for housewarming. Not very nice to leave them in "lurch" when groups dun know/mix with others. Then we cant produce quality time with them too. Think only relatives can combine into a big party for housewarming loh. Hey Bali is such a nice place to go...pity that I missed my flight on the first night then only got to hop onto the next earliest flight on the following day's evening. Wasted one day and night manz. We are blur freaks. Nonetheless, we had an enjoyable time there.

Hey summer..it's really very tiring. Currently, it's more like a weekend stay at my own house loh. Weekdays staying at my parent's house first. Just went home to move some of our barangs in. Then saw one thick layer of dust collecting there when our doors and windows are shut (not tightly though cos want some ventilation). I cleaned up abit loh, not floors. My neighbour opposite still renovating theirs. More or less will get our house dirtied loh. One week never go back house for sleeping and there we saw..DUST!! Really can break our bones for cleaning such a big house..hehe.. Im leaving for my honeymoon shortly liew. Catching the evening flight loh...to Bali. Hee.. My wall papers are going to be pasted next weekend. Divider, end table, ottoman and study tables also coming in next Sat. See if I can take some pics after more furniture are in. Mai gan jiong k. How hv you been? When is the house warming going to be held leh? I plan to hold it preferably during Xmas period or near New Year loh. Plan only ah...still need to consider whether house can be visited any time or not loh. Hah.

My contractor has more or less settled with the rectification works. Shall monitor them a while longer after our return from honeymoon. They seriously need tonnes of bugging and calls. Good thing is...though they are slow but still get things done. Some nasty contractors cheat client's $$ and run. So mean! We haven't paid in full..only 50%. Must hold on to our payment till we are satisfied to pay. The reno has completed. However, this Mr Tan also dun bother to chase us for payment....I rem I even needed to call him to make my deposit. How silly. Haha..

I had a wedding luncheon too. The feel was really not the same as having one at dinner. (I am imagining myself attending a luncheon and one at dinner) Franking speaking, the APs were slightly lesser but for close kins and friends we still got the same market rates. I got $20, $40 and $50 APs too but only a couple of each amount. Rest at least $60.

Had made my official move last night. The utmost outrage with Mr Tan will be letting him to do the paint works. Had regretted it now. Forever, taking his sweet time to finish the painting. It's one month now and still not done. Shall not recommend to those who's keen to engage him to paint your house.

Hi iltheas, Saw the pics posted by you. They seem really bad. Hopefully, Mr Tan can do something to them soon. Wont feel comfortable staying with the house seeing those defects around eh. Guess I would consider myself lucky to have Mr Tan treating less badly as you. I have began to complain him lately cos of the painting and carpentry and tiling works. Those were only for touch-ups. He really sent his team of ppl to my house, hubby was there and I visited the house after work. Saw the carpenter and painter around doing the recitifcations. The carpenter & tiler have finished the touch up work and guess left only the painter job. Will be there today to supervise again. We were already told that Mr Tan will leave the supervision job to his foremen shortly after the sign up. We trusted his team of workers and luckily that they did a good job still. Of course, not talking about the sub-con painters. Sincerely hope that our rectifications can be done asap.

Hi Hi Summer, my contractor has the entire unit's flooring polished already. Went to visit last night and v v clean. Abit disappointed that no painting work has been carried out. I told Mr Tan that if there's still nothing happening for the paint works Im going to get someone else the job to do it. Thought we could move in tomorrow but then we decided to postpone it to find better date loh. Meanwhile, we are shopping for kitchenware, crockery, cutlery etc to make the entire house more complete. Then after house cleaning then we will move in. No hurry now I guess.

Updated Reno Pics Had added few pics. Pardon me for the slow update. Had begun our housecleaning. Just submitted another defect feedback list to change our 2 toilet bowls and our MBR toilet door. Waiting for them to get them done before we move in. My contractor's carpenter & electrician are coming tomorrow (hopefully dun play out again) to do some works in our MBR. Generally Mr Tan's workers can be trusted but not those painters cos he sub-cons to them. Cant move in any of our stuffs yet cos scared got stolen. So far, only our hall's telly is there. MBR's telly is coming tomorrow. WE have postponed the delivery of our dining table and chairs cos cost us $1.6K to get them, intend them for 1 months and they were in fact arrived warehouse today. *shrugs* Need to postpone the delivery to next Sat together with the installation of the curtains. We will choose another 'good' date to move in. Think we prefer to settle the purchases of all our barang before moving in. Need to look for wall decor now. Thus, dun need to push him or stress ourselves. Looking forward to our honeymoon next month too. Hee. Oh btw, I bought my ceiling lights similar to those you bought too. Except for no remote. Din take the lights for kitchen, shower room, service balcony and bomb shelter.

Generally we are quite satisfied with the carpentry and workmanship, then again still subject to individual's requirement of what's "the perfect condition" is to them. Sometimes it does take a serious thought on how much work to do on hand, never go beyond our ability if couldnt handle so much at a time. Doubt any contractor would follow the rule. Sighz.

Hi iltheas, I can totally understand where you are coming from. I would probably do the same thing if I were you. Of course, not many contractors will treat their clients the way Mr Tan treated me. This was quite unsual. It might be the first time that you are doing renovation but it's definitely my first time handling all this reno works. I was happy to share my "inordinary" encounters with Mr Tan here. To my understanding, Mr Tan holds quite a fair share of projects recently (possibly after the 7th lunar month) where all projects need to get started. Suspected that you might have started your reno in the early August or even earlier (late July)? I rem Mr Tan told me that our renovation might complete within 8weeks, it's the 8th or even 9th week now. Our renovation is still not completed. Noticed that he does need alot pushes from your part as well as mine when our renovation has already been delayed. Had begun to be little upset by his slow work lately too. Painting still needs some touch up. Our renovation was delayed slightly cos I told Mr Tan not to hurry at the beginning (as HB was not in town) to discuss the layout). Perhaps that's why my project got delayed? *shrugs* I am supposed to move in next Tues and my reno is still not fully completed. Think still need another 5-10%? Anyway, I do hope we could get this over and done with now. Really a headache when handling all the messes. Come to think of it, just wondering why cant they (those contractors) to finish up a project that left only some work undone quickly before moving on to another? Wouldnt it be a burden off the chest for both parties too?

I waited for my electrical items and furniture over the last 2 weekends. So sianz for waiting them to come. Hubby and I started to do some house cleaning while wiating for them to deliver. Stuffs are here but reno still not 100% completed. Waiting for my contractor to do touch up on painting and do window grills. Curtains, MBR TV, dining table will deliver this Sat. Not much hiccups on items delivery but my painting still needs some touch-up loh. Have made an appt to meet MR Tan after work to discuss some changes on reno...hee..reno got delayed partially cos we change some minor positioning.

Really? As mentioned before, my reno will be completing latest coming friday if no touch up. I was told painting work will be done by tomorrow. 4 painters will be there to do painting to speed up job. *shrugs* My oven, washing machine, sofa and LCD TV will be delivered on friday. Had taken half day to inspect items. Last min added a L-box to cover up the water pipe at balcony area. Will be done tomorrow. Saw the 3 new doors for my rooms installed. With nice door knobs and stoppers. Design for water tap also good. Luckily dun need to change design. Also dunno can change or not cos it's not stated whether we can select the type of preferred design or not. Mr Tan said will do a nice job for me. Waiting and still waiting for overall appearance. I bought a similar ceiling light as you in ya MBR. I went to view my house just now and I switch on all the lights in the house...look so nice eh. *grins* Bet Mr Tan sure bring customer to visit my house too. That was what he did to me before signing up with him. Tic for tat. kekeke...dun mind house-visit by his potential clients so long he does a really solid job for me. He needs some pushes but still get things done quite promptly lah. Not all reno contractors/IDs are perfect afterall. Would still recommend him.

Shall take some pics once available. Hubby took some pics but he leaving me to do the job of uploading and me busy (lazy also) haha. Already took pics of all lightings and some carpentry work. Abit regret not to change our MBR toilet's basin cos dunno can change eh. Hubby saw many households got HDB to change for them. Abit late to call for the change cos my vanity cabinets already done loh.

My Fridge is from SHARP...2nd hand fridge from my mum as she's getting bigger one for the family. I bought Samsung LCD 37". Sighz...$300 leh..not cheap loh. I rather have those to come in NTUC vouchers. SONY is not a bad brand..hubby said Appearance wise, SAMSUNG seems better so bought it for the living hall and he might be getting SONY smaller LCD for the MBR.
