We received our keys last week! But in our excitement, we forgot about taking pictures of the rooms. Very minimal defects, thank God. After the publicity on all the other DBSSs and BTOs, and our sister project WWT1... we were prepared for the worst to be honest. Another good news is that our ID reverted back with the 3D designs. We'll be tweaking a bit more on the master bedroom and living room. Kitchen with brekkie counter Master bedroom (the wardrobe should be facing the other way, and the platform might be choosing a lighter laminate) Living room (needs to be woodier and more organic looking ahha)

ID/Contractor Selection: We didnt know how to reno our unit or had any ideas when we first started. So we went to expo in 2013, and sat down with a few IDs. In total, we spoke to about 9 IDs, some I cant remember the name or company... So, I'm listing the ones that I remember only. 1) Cissern, ID Ms I. She was very knowledgeable. Gave lotsa ideas. Suggested other things if our ideas were not really feasable. The company had cashback for GST, lotsa freebies and such. She came back with a quote and 2D drawing within a week. BUT her quote was the highest, nearly 40K. Out of our budget. 2) *****, *forgot the ID name*. Gave us a rough quote on the spot. Still out of budget. He didnt give any new ideas, just absorbed what we want. 3) Posh Home, ID Mr J. First impression was that he was very young. He first showed us a few mood boards, and determined which style we liked before hearing our ideas. I've the feeling that he didnt really get what we want actually. And he didnt suggest anything to us either. Came back with a quote nearly 30K. So about now we knew what we want and needed. So we came up with a list of needs. - Supply labour and materials to hack off half height wall panel of master bedroom toilet - Supply labour and materials to make good after hacking - Supply labour and materials to install glass fix panel of master bedroom toilet - Supply labour and materials to install tempered glass door for master bedroom toilet - Supply labour and materials to construct kitchen cabinet base - All plumbing works - Design, fabricate and install 18ft bottom cabinet for kitchen - Design, fabricate and install 9ft top cabinet for kitchen - Supply labour and materials to insall 18ft Kompacplus kitchen worktop - Supply labour and materials to install 9ft Kompacplus backsplash. - Supply labour and materials to install a platfrom bed with pull-up inserts in master bedroom (90sqf) - Supply labour and materials to install a suspended vanity in master bedroom toilet - Supply labour and materials to install a craftstone feature wall **** area - Supply labour and materials to install 3 solid veneer doors - Supply labour and materials to install PD door at common toilet - Supply labour and materials to install grilles at Bedroom 2 and 3 So, 4) DC Carpentry, ID Mr K. He listened to our ideas and came up with a quote within a week. When we came, he wasn't ready with a quote. He was still in the middle of it. So anyways, his prices were competitive. We managed to bargain somemore with him. In the end, the quote was within budget. 5) Summit Design, ID Ms S. She was doing a unit in WWT1. So that made us feel a bit more comfortable. But somehow, she didnt seem to know a few things, like the discrepancies in the house measurements and such, so that put us off a bit. But she advised us on a few of our ideas that was not feasible with the actual house. We got a quote from here within a week and it was below 25k. Her quote seemed to have a lot of hidden costs. 6) 3D Innovations, ID Mr J. This company was having a promo for 4rm at $11,588 so we walked in. The ID was also doing units at WWT1, and he was aware of the problems there. He gave ideas and suggested diff things to us. The package also offered quite a number of freebies so that cut cost for us. Also, he was flexible enough to use some of the package things we didnt want to offset what we really want. He came back with a quote within a week, and it was within our budget. We felt most comfortable and confident that ID Mr J from 3D Innovations could deliver... so we signed with him! We chose our laminates and he'll be doing up our 3D soon =D

EDIT: On hindsight, i shouldve named this tblog "My Super Budget DIY Home" Hi Guys! My project is the Waterway Terrace 2 BTO. Keys are slowly being distributed out, and I'm still waiting. Hopefully we'll get it soon coz it's been a long 4 year wait! Anyways, since WWT1 was ready first... me and hubby went to survey the unit. We were quite disappointed at the size of the unit for the price we paid. So, we decided that we will keep our renovation costs to a minimum. Especially since our BTO is a premium flat, we supposedly need not do much reno. So, we set our budget at $15k! Floorplan
