Help Needed! 70 Hollow Tiles! What To Do? :(
Humphrey replied to JWLT2002's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Hi, I face the same problem as you, but not as many hollow tiles. I am getting the ID to rectify as this is within their defects liability period. Check with CASE/Small Claims Tribunal to see your course of action, getting compensation for the shoddy works (amount you paid for the tile laying) or get the ID to pick up the tab for the repair works ( which is your extra outlay of 10K ). Getting another person to rectify without reimbursement / compensation is not fair to you and the other contractor. The last resort of letting it be is only viable if the tiles are in areas of very low traffic. If its right smack in your doorway or living room, you should get them to work on it. Hope this helps. How To Clean Unit Before Painting
Humphrey replied to Damocles's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Hi, You may try using the kitchen cleaning detergents to wipe down the walls before painting commencement. Alternatively, you can engage a painter to do the cleaning before painting and/ or apply a coat of sealant to allow the paint to adhere to the kitchen wall properly. On another note, usually the kitchens have tiled walls from ceiling down, so maybe you want to lay tiles or glass to the wall for easy maintenance going forward? I can be reached at 92999451 if you need further clarifications. Hope this helps. Cheers, Humphrey -
Try Mr Chong from New Wrought. I got his grilles for both my previous 3 rm flat and my current EM.

I think it really depends on the area you want it to be installed. Also they calculate based on the thickness of the aluminium used. Try to get a few contractors to quote for comparison. Hope this helps.

Bro. Depends on your available floor space and if your mom is willing to take a slightly smaller room. I believe any partition company can create a new room for you if that two conditions is fulfilled.

Best way is install a piece of frosted glass of your desired length and width. It will look nicer as well compared to putting up whiteboard paper or whiteboards. For whiteboard markers, its better to have a smooth surface to work with. As far as we know for chalkboard paints, you need to have a really smooth surface as well. so your costs will be to plaster smooth, get skilled painters to apply chalkboard paint and then buy chalk to draw. Let me know if this helps. =)

try calling Mr Chong from New Wrought. I got mine done through him. quite good. -
one pointer to share is to avoid having your fans installed too near the L boxes. I have one kdk fan which doesnt seem to blow as strong as the other due to the L Box blocking off the air movement from the top. Fanco fans with lights are ok too. I used a 48 incher in my 3 rm flat in Sengkang previously - not too bad la.

besides carving a cable canal in the wall (which i think may not be legal) you might want to try getting a partition wall guy to build a mini partition or bracket over your platform and conceal your wiring either in the partition or behind artificial flowers in a trough.

I got my kids room wall painted with a mural. So far my boys love it. But unfortunately I am not able to upload the pictures on this forum. not sure why. If you need, I can whatsapp you. =)

If you can accept weekend work, I believe you can get a good deal from skilled foreign labor since plastering is relatively quiet and not a nuisance to your neighbors. I did my EM with that because I cant stand the rockstone effect. haha

Bro, You can do the metal works and electrical works concurrently and painting works to be done after. This should shorten the time frame which your parents might be inconvenienced. For electrician, you may want to try JGEC - 81577555. Used them for my EM, so far no issues yet. Hope this helps, Humphrey 92999451

Anyone heard of SKK super biofine paint? Worried
Humphrey replied to egg's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
SKK is quite ok. About same standard as Nippon, just that the company did not advertise as aggressively. So its relatively unknown in the end user market. But for alot of main contractors doing the RnR ( repair and redecoration) programmes for HDB, this is a common paint to use. Hope this helps. Humphrey 92999451
