  1. Hi all, just sharing my frustrations over digital lock (Gateman II) over the last 8 years. Back in 2003 when we bought our condo, we were quite excited to see a digital lock as it was quite novel at that time. As time goes by, I encountered several "issues" which prompted me to want to change back to the good'ol mechanical one. Firstly, I have to check the batteries constantly, or be mindful of changing the 4 AA-sized batteries whenever the tone sounds. Once we got back from an overseas holiday, we didn't notice the batteries were leaking and continue to use it as nothing wrong. Then suddenly one day, it just died! The replacement cost for Gateman (has to be a newer version, as the old on was obsolete) is >$1k! I can almost change the whole door with that. I don't know. Perhaps the technology now has become more stable and reliable.
  2. Either people have no solutions or higher tolerance level than me, I tend to think it's the latter. My search online so far- google [+"acoustic ceiling"] for pages in singapore: http://vi-sonacoustics.com/products_services.html http://www.noisestopsystems.sg/index.php http://kowyee.blogspot.com/2010/01/brochures-2010.html https://resolution.sg/index.php?page=shop.b...1&Itemid=27 http://chipsoon.com/company_profile.html http://www.db.com.sg/ceiling/focus/focus.htm vi-sonacoustics did the theater in my office building, called them and they say they do HDB, don't know how much though. From prices quotes by kowyee, it seems a couple of thousand dollars for a few rooms.
  3. Make no mistake, it is marble dropping, when I hear it (*d_a_m_n*) I immediately went upstairs to check. How expensive it is to install soundproof material (Quietrock/Noisestop/Bitumen/anyotherkindofmaterials) for ceiling of living rm and perhaps 1/2 bedrooms? I am thinking if it's a serious enough problem, so much so that many people complained, and are willing to pay money to solve it, why hasn't contractors import these from overseas? Appreciate if anyone has any real solutions. Thanks. kanglc_at_gmail_dot_com (change the obvious)
  4. Hi, I have just rectified a leaking concealed pipe, but is left with 1) 3-4 holes on the wall, each about the size of 2 palms put together. 2) A section of parquet flooring slightly warp. Need advice on whether to replace or can 'polished' down. 3) Skirtings warped, and need to be replaced. Can anyone recommend a contractor for these kind of works? I am staying in Paya Lebar and would appreciate contractor who can do a reliable job. Thanks in advance! Mr. Kang Email: kanglc@gmail.com Tel: 6874-1960
