  1. I m so envious too on your smooth reno progress and ready to move in soon. May I know how much is your glass kitchen LED light and where you bought it? Thx!
  2. Nothing much in term of my reno progress since ID just walked away before we could discuss the schedule for the remaining outstanding items. Since he told us on Sunday that he couldn't secure the vinyl flooring for the bedrooms, which we had decided a month ago, and asked for 2 weeks of delay, me and wife rushed down to Evorich an hour just before their showroom close to secure our vinyl (bcoz I need to fly out to US on Mon early morning). Surprisingly, our ID told that we have switched away from the contract and he will remove the $3.3k discount from our $69k reno quotation. So, we lose another $4k+ and the reno costs goes beyond $70k..... Anyway, glad that you like the LED lights. Hope they are reliable
  3. I am wondering if anyone here who has ever met a contractor or ID that walked away from a discussion after failing to catch up your reno schedule as per committed date before you signed on the contract? I would appreciate if you could PM me your experiences before I consult CASE for dispute resolution. Thanks!
  4. So far only some minor hiccups here and there, but ID is flexible enough to fix them and explain in details. The aircon drainage PVC pipe in the MBR bathroom is the only pending item that we have yet to find a better way to run it. Looking forward to see more reno photos from you
  5. Hi neighbour, I m from 524B. Hope your reno will go smoothly and work well with your ID/contractor
  6. We have bought both warm and cool white LED strips and LED T5 tubes. Haven't decide which one to use, but most likely will use warm white LED strip since it's slimmer. We bought a lot of Philips 4-ganged light switches. They are standard 10A rated with fire-proof materials. The quality is definitely much better than those standard power switches installed by HDB. However, don't buy those power switches with stainless steel polished faceplate. They look solid and classy, but I don't think anyone will feel comfortable touching a electrical metal switch . For electrical power socket, buy only if you feel comfortable because power sockets sold locally have the Safety Mark stickers on them. Here are the links to the LED strips and T5 tubes. Their LEDs are either from Taiwan Chimei (in LED strip) or Samsung (in T5 tube). I bought quite a lot of spares since they are so much cheaper than buying locally, and I can replace each LED individually if they happen to fail prematurely LED T5 tube: http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=35675365653&spm=a1z09.2.9.533.LOjDNg&_u=jvr2rgb20ad LED strip: http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=37523938302&spm=a1z09.2.9.414.LOjDNg&_u=jvr2rgb157e
  7. Have been receiving PMs on how to make online payment by using NETs. Hopefully this step-by-step procedure can be helpful for those who likes to try TB/Tmall. Sorry for the pictures quality as my gallery album has already hit the max of 50 photos.
  8. I have the same question when I saw the way our aircon drainage PVC pipe is laid from ceiling all the way to the drainage hole Definitely need to work out with my ID when I am back in town. Pls share if your ID/contractor has better solution to hide it.
  9. Oops...my mistake. 57ft is the total length written in my reno quotation. I just checked the actual measurement I took last time, it's about 17ft 1 side. So both sides should be ~34ft. I guess the 57ft quoted was based on top and bottom cabinets. For aircon installation, I let my ID to work out the schedule since I am not in town. He started the aircon and false ceiling installation concurrently since they are related. In our case, we run the trunkings across all the rooms and hidden inside the wardrobes, so aircon need to be installed 1st before we can start the carpentry works. Everything went smooth except that the false ceiling contractors forgot to wrap the aircon when they were laying the false ceilings , so all the fan units are now full of dust on their suction holes. Not a big deal though but will have to spend an hour or two to vacuum them before use.
  10. ya...but that 'runway' costs a lot because we will need to pay for approx 57ft of top+bottom cabinets and quartz table top. Our ID brought us to visit his on-going project with the kitchen cabinets' downlight, and we really like it despite having to give up quite significant amount of storage space. But we eventually have to pass this design idea because we have cement base for our kitchen sink and stove, which have to be sit on the floor. Instead of 50%-50% different design of bottom cabinets, we go for the normal but more practical design
  11. Aircon trunkings in MBR. Not a perfect routing but thoughtful and practical enough. Will discuss with ID to reroute the small drainage PVC. BTW, an advice to home owners who will install their aircon in early reno phase. Make sure your aircon fan units are properly wrapped up during the reno works. Otherwise you will need to spend extra time to vacuum the dust out from the up-facing suction holes before you can use them.....a hard lesson learned
  12. Can share how much did you pay for the racing simulator and where you bought it? Thx
  13. Didn't have much time to upload photos since I am here in Taiwan for oversea work assignment for a week. Leave the reno to ID and wife while getting updates from them through skype and emails. Ran into quite a lot of trouble mainly caused by the building structure where the kitchen flooring is higher than the living/bedrooms floor level. As per ID, the kitchen flooring will be higher than the living room flooring once overlaying the kitchen tiles. So, we have to raise the living room floor level slightly while not obstructing the bomb shelter's door. But will have to trim the main entrance door.....seems like the HDB construction quality really needs a 3rd party to watch over them MBR aircon trunking box up....wonder if there will be any problem next time when servicing the aircon fan unit with such a limited space. 30/12/2014: Edited to consolidate all photos due to limitation in gallery, and updated with post-reno photos.

    MBR AC 02

From the album: New home @ Costa Ris

  15. I bought LED down lights, T5 LED lights, kitchen sink, basins, bathroom faucets, mirrors, LED ceiling lights, LED track lights, and many more. None of them is faulty or broken. Some sellers even give extra spares for items that I bought from them. My 2nd batch of goods (computer chair, dining chairs, LED lights, decorative pots, etc) will be shippped out this weekend. As bro OceanEleven mentioned, we need to put in some effort to compare and review comments from other buyers on the sellers. I have spent more than SGD3000 buying from TB and Tmall. I would have spent more than SGD6000 if I were to buy the some goods locally. Take for example, the exact same basin that I spent sgd50 buying from Tmall/TB costs sgd105 if buy from HoeKee. Of course, it depends on individual if saving 50% worth the risk for such a fragile item.
  16. My reno is not going as smooth as I have expected....quite tiring to deal with all this from oversea. Hopefully my ID can manage the remaining reno works without more surprises from his contractor... Looking forward to visit your new home as well
  17. Wonder where you install your fan coil unit in your MBR? Above the MBR's door or the bathroom's door? Hope my reno also progress as smooth as yours
  18. Started floor screeding on 30/9 and 3rd round of common bathroom's uneven mosaic tiles rectification. But no luck.... HDB sub-contractor seemed to start late and got the MBR flooring done. No progress on the other 2 bedrooms. They also left the MBR windows wide open. Wonder if that was on purpose to let the cement dry or forgotten to close Gave up to let HDB sub-contractor to keep rectifying the uneven mosaic tiles while delaying all other reno works. Informed BSC to hold on the 4th round of rectification in order for us to start the floor screeding and reno works. Put this under KIV Hopefully the electrical works on this coming Fri and Sat can progress smoothly.....
  19. Hi Aron, PM'ed you. Pls respond through my mobile contact. Thx
  20. 30/12/2014: All photos in this page have been consolidated in post #24
  21. 2nd version of the 3D photos from my ID. Will make some changes in the color but probably no more 3D as it takes too long to get updated..... 30/12/2014: Edited to consolidate all photos due to limitation in gallery, and updated with post-reno photos. Also commented in the photos with all the loose promises and mismanagement of some reno items
