About the floor hor, the ID should correct the tiles if they are uneven. For my renovation, my ID was very straightforward, he said "Any tile that is uneven, I will hack it off and redo it." Plain and simple. And he held up to his promise. So I think it's quite bullsh*t if an ID says it's not his fault if the floor is uneven. So don't choose an ID if he says that!

I'm in Block D Lucky you, got M1... hehe... My internet is also from Starhub so that was affected as well. We resorted to Wireless@SG, but connection was bad... Anyway, Shercjw, here's another reason for you not to feel sad about not moving in yet! No cable TV!
-
Congrats Gadgetman! Enjoy the first few days... all the firsts... first time u wake up to the new view, first time u use the shower etc... hehe. I was counting all the firsts when I moved in. By the way, can I jus ask you whether your Starhub cable point is activated? My house got no cable tv now cos Starhub says our block isn't activated yet, dunno true or not. Let me know, thanks! Can I also add on to what ms_white said? The dust is a real real problem. Sweep twice a day and yet the wind still brings back one whole layer of dust. It's literally the kind of dust that you can actually feel on your sole when you walk around. And cannot leave food lying around also... Either that or you close all the windows, which is quite sad. So, it may actually be a blessing in disguise that you don't have to sweep a million times a day. And another good thing, after CNY the ID's and contractors etc won't be so backed up with work like right now (with everyone rushing before CNY) and will probably be able to do your house faster and give you more attention. So look on the bright side ok?

Hi Neighbors, Wanted to ask if anyone has moved in yet? I tried getting our Starhub internet and cable tv to transfer to the new place but they say our block hasn't been activated for cable yet. Anyone else getting this problem? Quite ridiculous for the block not to be activated when people have been moving in since October. To their credit Starhub apologized profusely and suspended our account from the day that I made the call for the transfer (which was one whole week before I actually moved, so I got a week of free cable tv at my old place....) Anyway, it's bl**dy inconvenient not to have cable TV, and especially, the internet! I've flown back to Vancouver after the 3-week battle with a super-fast renovation (bless my ID) and house-moving and it sucks not having the internet to do webchats with my family. !! I can get Wireless@SG from my unit, but the connection is unstable. Goes on and off, so that sucks too. Sigh, I wish Starhub will just hurry up and activate the block already. On a lighter note, here's wishing all neighbors here a Merry Christmas!! I wish I can join in with all the gatherings, but alas, I'm on the wrong side of the Pacific ocean right now. Good luck to everyone who's continuing their renovations or waiting for their keys!

Wah! this is scary. I just bought my lights from them last week , but not delivered yet, cos we're still doing the floor tiles now. Will definitely check my lights properly with magnifying glass when they get delivered. Price-wise, must say they're quite unbeatable. No GST as well. Service-wise, I'd say it's the same as all the other shops. They're all pretty helpful in recommending lights etc, so no difference here.

The worker is from HDB one (my ID's workers are so much better and considerate)... But he did comment earlier before we left and before he started moving the sand... "how come u didn't use 1-dollar coin instead?" We just smile smile and say fengshui master's instructions mah. Maybe that's why he used our toilet. Because we used 1-cent instead of 1-dollar coins. They asked for kopi $$ for good job? !! Aren't they already being paid to do their jobs? These workers are too much... no work ethic... My hubby always says that Singaporeans are very naive. And foreigners pick up on this fact quickly and always pick and prey on us... And I went down to SITEX jus now to look for TV. The models I looked at: Sony S series 37" selling for $1899, 40" for $1999 (both got choice vouchers, can't remember how much, sorry. Think was around $200). I also saw the one alister reported: LG LC7 37" selling for $1599. Anyone got comments on these 2 models? Is LG ok? I'm tempted because it's cheaper than Sony.

Hello neighbors, just dropping by to see if anyone has had bad experience with the workers moving the sand and cement in? We had left coins and rice in the corners of the house on the first day we entered, as per our fengshui master's instruction. When we went back after the workers had moved the sand and cement in, we found that they had taken all our coins. So pissed off. The coins were put there for a purpose, and I'm super pissed off that they stole it just like that. Best thing is we found cigarette butts lying around in the sand piles, and they even helped themselves to our toilet. Plastic coverings unceremoniously ripped off and left in a mess. Thank goodness the water supply was already on and we didn't have to find un-flushed waste in the bowl. Ok lah, I can understand workers have to use toilets during renovation, and these stuffs are to be expected, but I'm still somehow pissed off. Like no respect for people's house one.

Hehe, I think u can totally ask Jenny for special price liao. I PM'ed the price to you already. I think for me the price difference was significant cos the 2 models I got was a little on the expensive side. Wat to do? My mama liked the inner-flame thingie when she saw it. Have to splurge on her, and get a smaller TV now. Too bad I didn't know Wen Jiabao was coming this morning! I could have gone over to kaypoh and take photos! oops... hehe

Ebing, you're very lucky leh. I called my case officer like 3 times to request for expedition for my case, in the end I still waited one whole month to get my keys. My time is very tight cos I studying overseas. Purposely flew back to submit the loan application the very day I landed, and I even called to let her know I submitted liao. She said "yes yes I will try to expedite". I got a plane to catch next month, die die must finish my renovation, then weeks creep by, still no news! called two more times, and I keep hearing "er, i dunno leh, let me check... oh! your case doing some finance thingie", we called loan dept, they say got no record of my case One month wasted waiting... We starting reno next week the day after we get keys, but I think I will have to fly back before I get to even live in my new flat... not enough time to finish liao... sigh. Next week when I collect my keys I will spy at my paperwork to see if "URGENT" is stamped on it or not. Btw, Alister, thanks for the info on the Citygas sale. I just checked forum today and swooped down there right after I saw your post. Bought Rinnai hood and hob right on the spot. Over 100 bucks cheaper than if I bought from Poh Joo. The Rinnai promoter quite funny, she was like "so, you living in toa payoh issit? I know. Must be Blk 79. I sold quite a few of this hob to blk 79 ppl in the last few days!"

Wow, does that mean people have to do "lift transfers" to get to the higher floors? That's so troublesome. Alister, u gotta share the view from ur flat in future. 40 storeys... woohoo!

Hi! I'm sort of a new member here. Happened to chance across this thread and was intrigued cos I grew up in Hougang, but moved away to Toa Payoh after my JC years. Fond memories of the place. Especially during the general elections and the politicians would climb onto the back of their trucks, drive around the estates and scream into their loud-hailers. Noisy, but that was about the most exciting time of the year. Think the compassvale area has developed and changed a lot with a full-fledged shopping mall of its own! I used to hang out at Hougang Mall after school (sad, I know), either that, or it was hopping onto bus 55 for movies at Junction 8. Never thought the public transport there was bad. After I got around to memorizing what buses go where, I could pretty much go everywhere as long as I know where to do my bus transfers. As for food, not much action back then. I can see from the last few posts that it hasn't improved

Hi Neighbors! Lurker here (Blk D 4-rm 90sqm). Just to chime in that we signed with an ID a few months back. Yes, a bit KS and early, but I had to do it before I moved to Vancouver (Hubby got a job here for a couple of years, so ...嫁鸡随鸡. Mum's holding the fort while I'm gone, but I'll be back for the key collection and reno!) We chose Chew Interior Design. Final quote around 22K. Haven't seen the 3D layout yet, so can't comment on quality, but the ID spent quite some time discussing the use of space and how to place furniture etc. We thinking of adding a wall feature to hang a flat panel TV, which will probably bring the total to 23K. Other things we're doing: (1) Homogeneous floor tiles (2) Window grill because I'm scared of heights (3) Kitchen cabinet (4) Bedroom cabinets x3 (5) Shower screen x2 (6) False ceiling in living room and bedroom hall (7) Piping and electrical wiring etc Price does not include A/C. Finally, many thanks to all those who've posted your experience with key collection and the photos taken of the block. Definitely very helpful for me a million miles away! edited because plasma TV = expensive, and other "flat panel TV"s are more affordable.

Hi there! I'm new to this site. I'll be in Blk D, bought it under SERS. Glad to see so many new neighbours here (and I love seeing the photos of the construction progress.. heh) Someone mentioned the idea of a gathering on the roof garden I think that'll be really cool!
