I would like ask if any shifu or anyone, for any carpentry such as suspended TV console and study table which u have to choose the laminate design. Does the laminate includes the bottom surface when it is done?

Well, is the cement screed the only thing u ask from contractors?. I doubt so. Usually they come in a reno package, well they +- here and there.

Yes. More concern of safety. Cos there isn't any 'tempered' sign or wording. Very worrying.

Contractor where got proof one. You ask them for it, they think you are looking for trouble. Need a sample to test right. Anyone with experience or in this field? if we provide the brand name or something?

Hi, I have a situation here. I have a contractor to install some glass work around my house. Despite asking for tempered glass material, I don't see the word 'tempered' at any 4 corners of them. I am concern of safety and quality as I afraid my contractor will short-change me with cheap glass instead tempered galss as agreed. Anyone can assist?

I do not recommend Mr yeak as a contractor based on experience. Beware of this contractor.

Not glue. Silicon. Prevents water from going in.

Our Yishun Greenwalk 5-Room Simple Simple Reno Journey

BTO flats now comes with LAN line but it is under utilised byusing it as telephone line. You have to convert those telephone ports to LAN points. Default only living room is LAN point. Dont need to ask contractor for it, you can find those people in facebook 'BTO networking'. Charges as per point basis. -
Surprising there are so many good praises for mr yeak here. I DONT SECOND THAT and please consider this contractor carefully. I am giving an unbaised review on him at the end of my renovation. Cheers! PM me if anyone is interested.

What To Expect From Engaging A Contractor?
Oscaroscar replied to Oscaroscar's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Thanks for your reply. I couldn't agree more on your payment terms with smaller contractors with 'Cash on delivery' and basic business law applies. How about main contractor who has most renovations(tiling, ceiling, carpentry and hacking) under his control. Should schedule be provided by contractor to inform owner when require this and that? As owner not being inform what are critical items to purchase first.. then causes delays and a lose situation for the owner. -
I must say it is a SMARTER move to engage and ID to manage this contractor. We went straight for this contractor. Hai.. We need to judge his workmanship and after sale service to be fair. Anyone who engaged him.. care to share some experience? If anyone engaged or just engaged feel free to PM me, we can share our experience.

Bringing Scandinavia To Tampines! ~5A Reno Blog~

Congrat on your lovely home. But I DONT SECOND ON that when ppl ask for this contractor to do renovation as we ENGAGED this CONTRACTOR. We are assessing on his overall ability to work with us currently. I may update once we have our reno is complete to give a unbaised review. -
Aiya.. contractors quotation is never accurate. Minus here.. plus there. Open your eyes and see... guys dun just look at this portion of quotation. I was asking quotation for different contractors.. and once at this particular one. He said: "Are you having a headache? Comparing all the quotation? Very hard to compare one la... Different quotation is written differently so impossible to compare. This is tactic.".

Great job with ur lovely home. I have currently engaged the same contractor. Mr yeak. It is SEEMED positive to engage him at the beginning for this workmanship based on ppl's review. But we hit some rocks... We are still assessing him for the whole reno process......just hope he can produce result.

Hi people, I have engaged a contractor recently for my house. This is our first house and home soon-to-be. We have started off with the reno works but stuck with some confusions whether who should do what. As the fact we know, we engaged a contractor not an ID. But we certainly DO NOT want to be short-changed(we will be spending tens of thousands rite??) Let's say we have 1 main contractor, he is an ordinary contractor found with a shop in a neighbourhood area. Anyone care to share some experience for engage them for a new BTO house? We are having some confusion as we know there is no guidelines so we are hoping people sharing their experience here. SIC right? These are some questions we hope to see ppl's view ... 1. Who should determine the schedule? Should contractor provide the overall schedule to the owner? What to do first...then that.. * why we are asking this is becos there are some items need to be custom made. If the contractor do not tell the owner in time, the project schedule will be delayed. 2. For items not included in the contract and requires owner to source them. Can the owner require the main contractor to advise and liaise with the sub contractors after sourcing for them? 3. There are always changes(add/minus of items with min 2k to 3k diff) in the quotation while reno started. Should the contractor revise the quotation before the final payment? Most people wouldnt want to have a shock in the last payment rite?

Quite impressive. Understand that you engaged 'three-d conceptwerke' as your ID. Seen their portfolio, are they more designer kinda IDs? May I ask how did you communicate the ideas and design you wanted to the ID/contractor? As I am puzzled how you can achieve this besides having great taste of choosing furniture. Can you provide some good advice on this aspect? As I am worried whether we can achieve the theme (scandinavian/nordich) and look of our new home when we engage just an ordinary contractor.
