  1. For now, another 4K+ units will be ready in 1 to 3 years time and there's still lots of land to develop in BP
  2. No noise, anyway I think this thread is almost dead...
  3. Fyi, EC coming to Segar 2nd half of 2010
  4. Bukit Panjang's DTL will be so near yet so far away even for those at lompang. They cited challenges directing the MRT into Bukit Panjang estate but I think diverting the MRT thru raffles, city hall and orchard was even more challenging
  5. Hi, Yes, these people are waiting for private buses. There is a pick up at 7.30 near block 465 and another 2 near block 472 at 7.50 all head towards Shenton via BKE, Orchard Rd. The 7.30 bus is run by Michael Tan 94890077 The 7.50 bus is run by Mr. Chua 97393178 They are usually full but there are vacancies from time to time, got to keep checking with the operators Good luck
  6. The Segar sports complex is finally ready...
  7. No worries, another time prehaps and 'Gong Xi Fa Chai'
  8. Thanks for the invite, the wife and I will be there. My email address (the one I use for open forums like this) is artng25@gmail.com
  9. The upcoming CNY season seems to be a good chance to get to know one another..... arrangements seem a little tricky since this is an 'open' forum..... lets start shouting !
  10. The 'checker' a Malay lady was still there (block 470 carpark) when I can back at 8 pm....
  11. Was told by the self aclaimed guru in this area that the 'checkers' come between 4+ to 7+. He also said we can take cover at the upper floors for overnight parking.... The guru got away with only 3 fines last year Anyway I guess they will be coming around more often since this place is already full. $90 for peace of mind instead of playing 'Catch Me If You Can' is worth the investment. Anyway I feel our conservency is quite high as compared to a friend of mine staying over at the EC at Quintet... He pays about $180 a month (parking, conservancy, pool, gym, amenities, security...). As for ours, carpark already take off $90
  12. Noticed they are exactly the same colour and coordination as the blocks facing the PIE (towards Changi) at the Toa Payoh turn off Car park: Yep. $90 that's what I pay
  13. That's probably because of the enclosed nature of our blocks. Anyway, been here for 3 and a half months now, haven't see lizards or cockroaches running around seems like the guys are doing a good job
  14. Maybe we could clamour SMRT to loop services like 700 or 190 around Segar or Ring road before heading back to the terminus.... it probably just take another 15 mins.
  15. Michael's number is 62821500 of HP 94890077.... but he's already full, nevertheless try him, he leaves block 465 at 0730 non-stop to fullerton
  16. You can call Mr. Chua at 97393178 (hope he's still operating). He has two buses departing near block 472 every morning at about 0748... one heads towards BKE, stevens, Tangs, orchard, shenton.... cost about $45 a month or $3 a trip.... Maybe some of us should consider sharing cost thru carpools or taxies .... If we have the numbers, transport companies may even consider running a special service for us. Just to add, found out this morning that there is another provider, Michael that goes straight to Shenton from block 465, pick up is at 0730. Will post his number later in the evening
  17. Anyone know where I can make arrangement for private transport or bus from Segar to Scotts/Orchard road on weekdays morning?
  18. Painting is quite straightforward.... If you have the time visit ICI's website. They are able to tell you what 'colour' you are if you'd answer a few simple questions. They will even provide suggestions if you email them photos of your house. You can engage them to paint your house as well.... The rest can be found in the buying guide. Normally painting cost for an EA is between 1200 to 1500 for 3 coats, 5 colours, negotiable
  19. False ceiling (if any) and wiring (must decide number of additional power points, moving switches or points, placement or electrical appliances), maybe even piping though these 'first' items are not as a general rule. The rest can come later As they lay the floor, just make sure they clean the laid areas well before placing protective cardboard over or else you may still have scratches or your beautiful white grouting will turn colour due to the collection of dirt (grey cement dust). Have you considered how you gonna do your toilets? Shower screen? Instead of doing a shower kerb, I just made the shower area lower and raised the basin and bowl area. I also enlarged my MBR shower area by making the door smaller (the door was almost 34 inch wide while the shower area was just too narrow) If I guessed your flat configuration correctly, your middle room (Maybe room 2) has a long passageway into the bed area. Maybe you can consider moving the door back by 2 metres giving all 3 room a 'private space' Once more thing, we may also want to consider plastering your walls to give it a fine smooth feeling before painting. The walls we have are rather uneven and rough if you'd take a closer look. They will show even more if you use strong colours or turn on the lights against them at night Good luck
  20. Use a solid wooden stick (broom, mop stick) and start pounding the centre and four edges of every tile Pay attention and listen for hollow sounds One more thing, make sure none of your pipes are choked. I poured large amounts of water into every outlet to make sure and discovered that may MBR toilet was choked, They had to go downstairs to my neighbour to clear it for me... huge chunks of cement were removed
  21. Congrats ! You're very lucky So which item is free from HDB? The tiles? The hacking, sand, materials The labour for tiling? Haulage? Washing?
  22. Good for you, you've saved yourself at least $15000. Anyway make sure the tiler tiles your floor evenly. These guys tend to to very reckless just laying tiles without using a level for the sake of speed. If that happens you will find your floor tilting here and there. Thats what happened to mine, one end to the other was a good 18mm differences and I made them hack and re-did a protion of my floor. Good luck
  23. Is HDB really going to change all your floor and wall tiles for you? About 130sqm of it all. As in hack away everything and relay for you? If they are then you're very lucky. Anyway I was told by HDB that they are building flats behind the Segar LRT
