  4. Hi, Do you sell Electrolux top loading washing machines? Can you send me the models and rates?
  5. MOVERS UPDATE & MOVING STUFF TO TEMPORARY STORAGE: It has been few weeks since we moved all our stuff like furtniture, beds, dining table, fridge, washing machine etc., to a temporary storage till our renovation is completed. We chose Storhub at Bukit Batok (just opp. Bukit Batok swimming pool) for our storing needs. They had a few options of space and the advisor there Ms. Jasmine helped us save some costs to choose the right size. Initially when I looked up the space calculator online, I was thinking I would need in excess of 100 Sq Ft of space to store all our stuff. But when we had a chat with Jasmine, she said 52 Sq. Ft of space would be sufficient. Thanks Jasmine for saving few $. Then our movers was extremely zealous in their approach true to their name "ZEALOUS MOVERS". Very reasonable quote, extremely friendly, prompt in their timeliness and super efficient while moving. Their moving, heavy lifting and crunching into the small storage space by innovative planning was really excellent. They also gave us good discount if we use them for a) to store it in the storage and b) to move things to our new flat once reno is completed. 6. No harm trying it. My humble suggestion - don't get fooled by these promos and gift packs because devil is in the details. Especially in a reno - where myriad details matter. A small change can set you back by a few hundred dollars. So your $ 1200 can vanish in no time. Sorry to scare you - but just ensure you entrust your home reno to someone whom you can trust.
  7. I too liked the GR Link marketing of all the shops I visited in Jalan Besar primarily because of the bright and neat layout; patient explaining on the products. But they are not the cheapest when I compared the prices they gave me with others. Royal Fanco was much cheaper. Later when I visited Heritage Bathroom, my impression changed. When you compare like-to-like Heritage was cheaper and carried more varieties especially the basins. For example, I intended to buy built-in oven from Lion City in Geylang Road; but the final price they offered was matched by Heritage. In fact, I need not bargain the price in Heritage; they already offered me the lowest. Similarly, I wanted to buy my Fujioh Hood and Hob from Hoe Kee, Tanjong Katong; but Heritage price was the same. So I decided to save lot of headache & trips to shop different things from different shops, making visits again to all these shops, coordinating deliveries, payments etc. and decided to consolidate all the purchases with Heritage. But I must say, all my visits to various shops helped me understand the products, features, and the best prices; In the end, everybody sells the same products; it is the personal experience and comfort that matters; not to forget the $; if I were to save few $, why not?
  8. Nice pics.. You seem to be artistic
  9. I like what you mentioned "if designer is not interested in my business in the first place, I am not sure about entrusting my house to him". This is exactly my feeling after interacting with few designers. I must say I was able to find out a very Designer with lots of enthusiasm and one who understands my taste and also pushes me back when things are not doable. Thanks to the Renotalk forum, I could learn from so much and was careful in shortlisting the ID of my choice..
  10. If the India fans works well, I will soon start a fan importing business from India!!
  11. The tempered glass is a good idea and cost effective as opposed to granite or solid surface. also the pull out is practically very useful. Brilliant!
  12. Hi, Good idea. But won't it get blown away in strong winds? are you planning to something to stick on?
  13. Hi the Bathroom accessories are really really nice.. How much are those? I would love to buy those, but for the language barrier.
  14. Your bathroom tiles are really nice.. Is the WC Baron?
  15. I bought all my sanitary, basins, kitchen basin (carysill), cooker hood, hob and oven (Bosch) from Heritage. Their price is the most competitive so far.
  16. I also bought all my sanitary, basin, kitchen, cooker hood, hob and oven from Heritage. Their price is the most competitive.
  17. AIRCON CHOSEN: My unit came with System 3 aircon installed by previous owner in the 3 bedrooms. Initially, I was thinking of retaining it and add-on an System 2 aircon for the living. However system 2 aircon itself cost came to $2500. Also need to run separate trunking which could spoil the interior. So we decided to replace the whole thing and go for System 4 Aircon with Inverter. Nowadays, I am told every system is an inverter! So more power savings. The brand choice was no brainer due to the popularity of "Mitsubishi Electric"; spare parts won't be an issue because of so many people opting to go for the same. Initially I got confused between Mitsubishi Electric and Mitsubishi Heavy Electricals. Later I found that Mitsubishi Heavy is parallel import and obtaining parts might be difficult. When I enquired with aircon people and online everyone suggested to go for the following configuration: 18K BTU for Living/Dining + 3 x 10K BTU for 3 bedrooms. Somehow I was unconvinced if 18K BTU will be sufficient for my large living/dining. So I decided to shop around; when I met my ID recommended Aircon guy, as soon as he saw my large living, he immediately suggested to go for 26K BTU for Living/Dining instead of 18K. He also was practical in suggesting what trunking will work and how to optimize without spoiling the interior. So I decided to go with him. The final choice was: Mitsubishi Electric inverter system 4 MXY4A28 (This is the compressor unit) + MSYGE26VA Fan Coil Unit for Living / Dining + MSYGE10VA X 3 for bedrooms Total Cost $4400 including 22 SWG (gauge) copper for gas and 16 mm water pipe. Normally people use G23 copper pipe - but he suggested G22 copper pipe for better cooling.
