  1. If u want hassle free, consider spending a little more for Crestar ceiling fans instead.
  2. It is much too expensive for a fan at the current prices, unless u really like the design. There are other DC ceiling fans which are more affordable, providing similar energy savings. The Crestar Starlite DC fan is one such example, priced less than $500 including installation. In addition, it comes with an integrated light. There are also DC fans from Amasco too.
  3. U might like to try using toothpaste.. it might work. I replaced my ceiling lights and added a ceiling fan recently, resulting in some very awful marks left behind by the old lights. I've tried using detergent, thinner, etc. and none of these products could remove the black marks and yellowish stains. I recalled people mentioning about using toothpaste to remove stains and sacrificed half a tube of my Colgate Whitening. I've successfully removed EVERY single mark and stain.
  4. I dont have the same exact model but no harm trying... Did u install the magnetic sensor? U'll need that for the auto door lock feature to work. Assuming u have installed it properly, press registration button followed by '4' followed by '*' to toggle auto door lock on/off. Hope it helps.
  5. Got it (brand new, not refurbished unit!) less than $600, all in inclusive shipping. I didnt get any insurance though...
  6. Well risks can be higher buying from Ebay, so u have to scrutinise the seller carefully. However, there can be decent ebay sellers with good offers. I got my 350 from ebay, a little pricier than what u paid 4 yrs. If u stick with new models, chances of a refurbished unit is less. In addition, iRobot refurbished models have different model nos. One advantage of buying from Ebay is... u dont have to go through Vpost !! Simply use US Postal Service... quick and hassle free..in addition, no restriction with batteries!
  7. Depends on how dirty yr floor is. If its only dirt, then Scooba by itself is fine. If u have larger stuff like leaves, bread crumbs, etc., having a Roomba run through first helps. Scooba 5800, 350, 380 can officially use Clorox or plain water. Unofficially, its been tested to work fine with floor cleaning solution like KiwiKleen, MagicClean, etc. Just make sure u control dosage as some of these solutions can cause excessive foaming. Your computation is based on buying from iRobot. You can find cheaper alternatives elsewhere. There's ecost, HSN, Amazon and even Ebay.
  8. Good point there... but the Newstar i referred to is capable of > 1.25A at 22Vdc, just dont know what is the max current it can supply at 22VDc. As the switching power supply dont come cheap, perhaps getting back an original iRobot fast charger power supply is the best bet. Should be able to find some decently priced ones (used/old) on Ebay.
  9. Can u verify if yrs is an ORIGINAL 240V power supply by iRobot or a 110V model modified by seller to support local 240V operation? In any case, think i came across a switching power supply (was it Newstar or something) thats capable of supply 1.25A at 22Vdc. It should be compatible to the fast charger supply (i've not tried it out personally, caution here!). Its retailing for S$55 at SLT.
  10. Which transformer went "POOF"? Your iRobot power supply or your step down transformer? If its yr iRobot power supply, was it a 110V or modified 110V or 240V?
  11. ComG takes volumetric weight into account as well (checked with them) ! So much for a cheaper alternative to Vpost
  12. How did u get 14lbs in std pkg? A sheduler complete in original packaging is 10.6lbs, even factoring a ridiculous 1kg of packing material will not go beyond 6kg tops. You could have gotten a higher weight as Vpost charges by volumetric weight. If ComG doesnt factor volumetric weight, than it'll be a cost effective competitor to Vpost
  13. Y-E-S. Something i dont quite get it here, a Roomba at 8kg? Should be a whole lot less... In any case, ComG looks cheaper because (unless its not stated on its site) it does not take volumetric weight into account. The Roomba / Scooba u order from US can be packaged into a big box (amazon did it b4), ending up if u ship via Vpost, the volumetric weight is bigger than the actual weight of the item, hence u end up paying more.
  14. Where are u getting the battery for US$40? And that includes free ground shipping to yr US address? What special arrangement is there for Vpost to ship to yr home? I've been shipping items from US to my home as well... unless u have special preferential treatment so that they are willing to ship banned items to you. In that case, I would like to take it up with Vpost on this matter.
  15. You are lucky! I have asked VPost specifically, their answer is a straight NO, even asked them again to verify. I have shipped Roombas and batteries through Vpost before, no issues at all. Its only the recent change in their shipping policy. There have been past experience whereby the shipment was rejected by vpost. You have to bear shipping for rejected items back to the shipper.
