  1. haha, first and third choice huh.. i like the 1st one too, but scared will turn out too dark, 3rd one the color is nice, but after feeling the tiles more.. felt that it was too smooth, scared slip and fall. i think we're likely to go with the middle one.. juz cos of the kitchen wall color, and similar color to the living room tiles. hope it turns out fine. 2nd round of toilet tiles chosen is wall tiles much better than the first. *thumbs up* too bad the floor tiles not neutral color. Goes with the floor color for the rest of the house, so ok lor. really? do you have a pix of it? wanna get a feel of the thing..
  2. thanks for the advice applefreak. but grout lines not really a problem, cos my old house has tiles counter tops, it was ok. it's good for heavy duty work like chopping corn! lol ya, i admit the tiles chosen is kinda unconventional, but think it will be nice. if next time, we really find it hard to maintain.. then maybe can put a clear plastic sheet on it or something.. anyway.. HDB's hacking my toilet walls today!! *excited* the original grey tiles we chose, not enough for both my toilets.. had to go pick another set of tiles yesterday, but as it turns out, the 2nd set had nicer tiles! almost white with light grey horizontal lines. my hp camera din manage to show the grey lines though, so nvr post the pix.
  3. can't rem the name of the place.. its in defu lane i think.. one of those big warehouses.. contractor brought us there.. i just follow.. hahah anyway.. foyer tiles.. living/dining/mbr/bdrms balcony floor counter tops for kitchen/bathrooms 3 choices for kitchen tiles my kitchen wall tiles are pinkish intending to build kitchen cabinets with black laminate, and white counter top laminates.. something like this.. which kitchen floor tiles would you guys suggest?
  4. Went to meet the TO on saturday, saw the sample tiles he had for us. grey, red, beige & blue. Chose the grey one.. but he said supply running low! have to contact contractor to contact supplier to straightaway order the tiles.. hope they have it ! *fingers crossed* TO said estimate both toilets can be done in 2 weeks, but we are able to start hacking the study wall as long as our contractors dun go into the toilet.. met up with our own contractor too. Didnt go with the 31k quote, we chose to go with our friend's contractor friend, cause we felt we could communicate better with this guy and his quote was cheaper! finalised the quote details, took out some stuff, he will give us the actual contract soon. Selected the tiles for the living/mbr/bdrms/balcony/counter tops. Got 3 choices for the kitchen floor.. pictures laterz.. back to work.
  5. 40k?! i faint. i hope our doesnt come up to 40k after the additionals.. still got ROM, BS and AD!! izzit? any idea what's the market rate for the glossy homo? we haven gone tile researching.. yea, its similar, only my kitchen door frame is not the standard size, so there probably isnt a ready-made frame to fit.. that's what i'm told anyway.. tsk . YA! when I saw the quote, I was like how come the doors and drawers separate quote! *faint*
  6. ya.. 20k is our initial budget.. but after seeing so many forummers spending 30-40k.. we already prepared .. 20k is confirm too little.. we also using contractor only. This the 31k quote. the other one.. we went directly to the carpenter, so we got separate quotes for wet works and carpentry. I think the thing that killed is the carpentry and the ceiling.

    Rom Hi Tea

I checked their site.. their business hours.. 11am to 3.00pm (Lunch) and 6pm to 11pm (Dinner). sighz
  10. ok. called my TO today. He said my common toilet confirm no more tiles, have to hack. He will be meeting with the contractor tml, hopefully will be able to get samples of the tiles by the end of the week. MBR toilet, he's still trying to source for the same tiles, cause apparently the MBR toilets were replaced a couple of years ago (they are not the original tiles that were put in when the block was first build, I dunno why they were changed in the first place though) The electrician and the aluminium guys will be able to start work this week. TO said he will replace all my electrical switches and sockets cause the current ones are old models and have rusty screws, so yay! We get new switches and sockets! He went 1 step further and said he will change our magnetic door stoppers, cause I brought it up to him that the magnetic field wasn't strong enough. At that point in time, he said the stopper can hold the door can already la. So I was surprised when he said he will change it today. And new doorknobs too, the current ones are stained. Hopefully the contractor has tiles that we like, if not..
  11. my ROM is at the registry @ 2.15pm, any suggestions where we can go with 20-30pax, for a little food after that?
  12. thanks for the tips guys!
  13. oh.. what about your piping and stuff? the normal ones? or 16mm? $1700 is quite cheap right? for mitsubishi.. oops! sorry .. toilet tiles ..
  14. SO QUIET? WA!! ok. so anyway, the TO came for inspection yesterday, he said he might have to propose hacking the toilets, BUT, we have to use back the tiles HDB provided, even if my current tiles are out of stock.. have to use those that their contractor provides, he said to avoid dispute or something like that. but overall he's a nice guy, a bit long winded.. but nice guy. sighz.. I wanna change my bathroom tiles!! Hope they have all white tiles.. hate the patterned ones that they have now.. sighz. said he'll get back to me by the end of the week, on whether hacking the toilet or not.. *fingers crossed*
  15. hey smoochies_woochies, im just sourcing.. haven picked the contractor yet, waiting for the last quote to come in before we decide. I'm hacking my study too, the whole area's gonna be huge! How's the orientation of your bed? Legs facing the MBR door? Or bedhead against the windows? or legs facing the window? I imagine your wardrobe would be against the aircon ledge wall right?
  16. Hi, I've been to 2 shops. The first one recommended LG, cause she claimed the LG compressor is quieter than the rest. But she is also one of the authorised dealer for LG, so she might be pushing LG aircons. She quoted $1700+ for non inverter sys 3, normal pipe. The 2nd one recommended Panasonic. He said Panasonic compressor is not very loud, its ok. non inverter sys 3, 16mm pipe @ $1930, $1800 for normal. The inhouse unit looks nicer than the LG one. Which would you guys recommend?
  17. ok. aircon question. between LG & Panasonic. Got quote from panasonic, non-inverter latest model, sys 3 - $1930 (16mm pipe), $1800 (normal pipe) LG, non-inverter, sys - $1700+ (normal pipe) Which brand would you guys recommend?
  18. dunno how the materials will look.. but right now, looks nice on the catalogue! i like the steel look.. but i can't stand the sound and feel of metal rubbing against each other.. lights.. prob simple light for the MBR for MBR ambience lighting.. maybe will get the double instead of the single one.. can't decide square or round.. but definitely black.. for dining light.. also black.. 3 in a row.. i know i know.. LOTSA people have these lights.. but they look nice!! and for the rest of the house, we'll prob get those boring circular lights, no fancy design. but the nice stuff where people can see, and hide the rest!
  19. OOPS! sorry, read until blur.. i have no use for a dressing table, not a makeup kinda girl, so maybe all the stuff can do in the toilet. just went down yesterday to take final defect list and submit it. Did you know you can submit the defect list online? We went to the Town Council, and the receptionist told us we could actually submit it online, but since we were already there, she gave us a Q number anyway. And we didn't manage to find any cracked or chipped tiles in the MBR toilet.. DAMNED! but there were lotsa uneven ones.. Will they retile the uneven tiles? There were a couple of small chipped off the toilet tiles, and a few scratches and small cracks in the common toilet, don't know it they will hack the toilet tiles. Hope they hack both toilets. *fingers crossed* Had to buy a lock for the place, din know locks were so expensive! $10+ to $200+?? Like so expensive lock? Got special powers to repel burglars ar? lol 1 contractor came to take measurements for quotation today. Apparently my ceiling is quite low, so might have some problem with the original L-box height or something like that, they were speaking in hokkien, so I only understood a bit. After submitting the list, we went back to our house with the contractor, then we discovered the common toilet was leaking water! (Cause the previous time we were at the house, we switched off the main water supply so din notice it was leaking.) But we'd already submitting the list, I just put a masking tape on the toilet to indicate that its leaking. Hope they are able to rectify it. Anyway, we went to see some lights and some cupboard materials, planned to take for the kitchen top and bottom cabinets and white tiled counter top. and same material for both toilets cabinets. for the MBR wardrobe. Now deciding whether to have the trimming/finishing for the cabinet door edges. Went to see lights too, but the lights photos are with FH, will upload them once i get my hands on them.
  20. It seems like there's not enough space for the King-sized bed and a wardrobe! Don't want to hack down walls like smoochie.. any ideas?
  21. Collected keys and went to see the place already.. Shape of the room is weird.. cant put enough wardrobe for 2 people without hacking any walls.. sighz TYM, if U-shape or L-shape wardrobe, wouldnt the space at the corners of the wardrobe be wasted? Not sure, just asking, cause the corners like hard to reach..
  22. lol i was quite surprised.. i surfed through the rest of the renotalk blogs.. like very few woodlands EA.. i thought because maybe the EAs not new anymore.. so no posts.. or maybe there're very few woodlanders online.. everyone said to me woodlands? WHY SO FAR! when i told them where my new house is at. tsk tsk
  23. hope I get a good HDB officer and hope my bathroom tiles have cracks or are chipped.. @smoochies_woochies - how much did you spend for your bathrooms? any pix to share?
  24. me me! drive 16! not exactly staying there.. will be shifting there would be more appropriate. so .. what's good to eat there? where's the market?
  25. haha! last month we went up to the 7th floor, just nice got a house just collect keys, FH sez their toilet tiles and our toilet tiles are different color! I thought it should be standard same for the whole block!? My toilet bowls and sinks are the same color (the greyish green.. ugh.) I think, so what did you do to your master toilet? Rip out everything? We not looking for ID, we are ID-wannabes! lol Looking around for design ideas. Leaning towards the modern contemporary look.. so just scouting for contractors maybe..
