My kitchen is really small lol We will have full height cabinet in kitchen that block up the access to the toilet. The small yard at the back leading to the toilet will become our laundry yard where we place washer and dryer. The laundry yard will have cabinets as well to keep our detergent and other barang barang. The purpose is to keep the toilet, washer and dryer out of sight in the kitchen. So meaning we need to enter the L1 toilet and laundry yard via balcony only. Hallway to MBR Staircase That's all for now..

20th day of Reno Flooring all done.. Though its Saturday but the workers are still working hard.. ID's assistant whatsapp the progress with pics this morning but we very Kpo and curious so went down to see again. They are really fast. Only part is the carpentry might not be completed for our move in.. It seems there are really shortage of skilled workers and with many projects on hand, the carpenter said he will try his best for us. We also don't want to rush them and compromise on workmanship. Glassworks will be the last part after carpentry. Anyway some pics taken just now to share Can see the different formation of parquet between bedroom and corridor View from entrance foyer. This is original living room and balcony where we will convert it to relax area This is the other side of hall which we have hacked down the bedroom and convert this area into living and dining area. Woah good buys from Taobao! We may also face some delay in carpentry.. The carpenters have already done site measurements etc.. But due to shortage of skilled workers ( read that some forumers also encounter) and also they have many projects on hand, our carpentry works may not be ready on time though the carpentry said he will try his best. The rest are progressing quite fast actually

Actually one of our biggest concerns is our dog.. To adapt to new environment and strangers walking in and out during moving etc.. And there surely have some ongoing touch up here and there.. And the safety part ESP staircase

Hi 3dyms Thank you Bb central is good choice. Near west mall, MRT station, bus interchange and amenities. Probably one of the last batches of EM. Bishan was not on our list in the first place. We have viewed almost whole of west side ( bb, bt panjang, bukit gombak, j west & east, Cck ) and our offers were rejected. We are lucky our seller isn't greedy type and got the layout we like. Based on the past resale transactions in bishan, the cov we paid certainly not on the high side. Will camp in your blog for updates!

Ya nowadays the BTO progress very fast.

My ID quoted me 3200$ for plastering. Yes source yourself will be cheaper! We got our own electrician for rewiring only at $3200 ( sub con price) Do share more pics!

My current premium 5rm also have some hollow tiles.. You can hear the difference when tap it with coin or foot.But so far never pop out after staying for past 5 yrs.

Agree!!! My dog is my fur kid they are part of the family. Sadly, I have seen alot irresponsible pet owners who abandon their pets when they move to new house. I wonder how could they have the heart ... They have feelings too

Hi typhoonz, the moment you mentioned corner unit with recess but only 148sqm, I already suspect its 5A model maisonette. Most gen 1 EM original floor size are 148-150sqm. You can look at the valuation report to verify during viewing. Anyway you are very lucky u got back the 5k deposit. The agent forked out himself??? Too good to be true. Nevertheless, I hope you be able to find your ideal EM when time comes. I foresee govt coming up with more new measures which may be disadvantage to second timer and resale market.

I read somewhere in RT that there are shortage of good skilled workers. If you are not in hurry to move in then ok. Ya better dont rush most importantly is the workmanship is good

Welcome to RT! Your layout is similar to my current 5rm flat in punggol.. Except that my bomb shelter is at the right side of the living room. You may want to place your dining table at the area next to bomb shelter? Out of sight from the main entrance.

Be prepared EM will take a long time to clean.. I dread thinking of that coz I vacuum and mop daily one

16th day Tiling for balcony, service yard and foyer completed! They also done on staircase! They are really fast! Once living room flooring is done, next is carpentry and glass works coming in!!! Balcony Foyer area We are lazy people so we chose the same tiles for balcony and foyer.. Even the 2 common toilets have the same tiles.. We thought actually all 3 toilets should have same tiles as well.. Lol boring lazy people with lazy ideas and taste.. No theme..

Actually our current flat bedrooms also parquet and the condition quite bad coz we didn't take good care.. I didn't dry the mop first and even used floor detergent. We were told to just use plain water and damp mop to mop will do. Yes parquet flooring require more care. But we still prefer parquet over laminate coz of the squeaking sound. More woody feel I guess. I think living in an EM will take up alot time on cleaning.. Ho seh Liao zzz

My ID said 没问题 to handover in late march but of coz still need minor touch ups here and there after that which we are fine with it. His background is he started from being a Reno worker... . Then started his own reno firm. A very hands on person.. He's not academically trained in design and well dressed like those big names ID forms. But he can provide very good practical ideas and able to tell us can do or cannot do from the start. Hehe he also had a share in hacking our common bedroom wall to ensure its properly done. He joked he can Reno for us alone by himself if give him 6 mths. He can do hacking and tiling himself lol. Having said that, cross fingers and toes everything goes smoothly.. Cannot comment too early first. Hopefully he don't disappoint us lah. Initially we wanted to do laminates but later on changed our mind since the differences is not that alot ( with bargaining)
