  5. Congrats on the reno starting. hope to see more pics. heard from my renovator that some of the neighbours in my blk complain about the renovation even though they are carried out in the allocated timeslot.
  6. maybe u can ask ur friends to accompany u when u go there lor. more people better mah or ask any forumers who stayed nearby to go with u
  7. Hi, they will be coming down this friday to rectify all the defects. In the mean time, i will be starting to shift my stuffs over bits by bits liao. My 'official' shifting in date is still on 9th Aug. !!
  8. agree on that. when i switch on my air-cond, i was wondering whether the compressor was even turning, coz cannot hear anything. So put my hand on the compressor and felt that it is indeed moving. even the air-cond unit is also quiet. much quieter than the non-inverter fujitsu air-con that i am using now.

    My New Home

sorry, no pix this two days. have been busy. yesterday was busy looking for defects and testing all the electrical points. Today was at IKEA for almost the full day buying furniture. Had to do 2 rounds coz alot of things to buy and limited manpower. One of my friend help me earlier but have to move off to meet friends. So 2nd round left me buying and carry all the stuffs... **** tired....
  10. Spot some mistakes but mainly minor mistakes. The painting on the wall under the MBR was not painted properly. can see the paint lines. The underneath of the trunking also not painted. One electrical trunking end point not cover up. Some cabinets door not align properly. The kitchen sold table top need to polish. Windows are not cleaned properly. The hob was not able to sit properly on the table top. The hob got a curve groove design, so the hole need to be cut a bit bigger. The rest is mostly cleaning was not good. My Renovator is indeed busy lately, due to the high surge in renovation works.. Even him, as a managing director, also have to help drive lorry to bring his workers ard. hahaha. Anyway, he wanted me to email him becoz it is much easier than talk on the phone. coz he may not be able to remember everything i said. When i check my house, i also test all the electrical points with a small portable fan. I also tested the network points that i ask him to install. But haven't check the telephone system yet Switch on the air-cond to see if got any leak and is it cold or not. Try the water heaters also. Test all the taps to see if got any leaks... etc. Some people do knock on the tiles to check if it is hollow lor. i haven't did that yet. Dunno want to do or not, coz the house too big liao... hahaha Anyway, to be able to spot defects, firstly, u must have the mentality that u definitely want to find something wrong at the place, then u will find... if u keep telling urself that everything is well, then u will not be able to find any mistakes lor.
  11. my current house worst... on my air-cond for 2-3hr and the condensation will start liao...
  12. actually, hot is red, cool is blue... this 2 days no time to take photos. haha yesterday check for defects and test all the electrical points. today was at IKEA for almost the whole day to buy furniture.

well, the way to spend money on renovation depends on individual preference. some like it simple and prefer to use the money for more quality stuffs, some prefer to be more visible. Other indulge in lights while others maybe on Audio System. Whatever style it maybe, as long as the price is acceptable without compromising quality, it would be good enough... Life is too short to try to squeeze every little bit of juice out of the money spend.
  14. Great to hear that, but are they going to add insulation to the affected area? or are u leaving it as it is? Yesterday, i was at my new house, so i also tested my air-con and see if got condensation or not... luckily dun have. whew...

oh ya, u also need to apply for the power supply too. They will went down to the place to read the meter after ur application (my agent applied for me and i just need to fax back certain form and my I/C) and anything before the reading is the seller's, and anything after that is the buyer's.

    My New Home

Yup, my reno is fast. 5 weeks in total. Went thru the house today. found some defects but are just minor defects. The detail breakdown is at the first page of my t-blog. Actually, went to a few renovation company and his was the cheapest. And i have seen their workmanship before and it was good. Considering the things that i did and the amount that i paid, it is actually quite cheap. And their level of professionalism as well as efficiency is good too.

If the seller is not occupying the house, he can let u renovate the house before the 2nd appt and only after the first appt is approved in principal. ie. When u received the letter from HDB that informed u that the resales is approved in principal. The letter will normally be send to u around 3-4 working days. After this both the seller and buyer have to sign the indemnity form. This is to indemnified the seller of any problems arising from the renovation and the buyer will take full responsibility. Also the buyer has to sign a letter of undertaking for early possession to take the keys from the seller. Ur renovator will also help u submit the application for renovation, which the seller need to sign. Photocopy of both side of the IC of both the seller and the buyer is also required. The seller and the buyer need to sign on the photocopy of IC also. Ask ur property agent to help u run thru the require paperworks. Also let ur renovator knows, he will advise u of the forms required. Hope this is of some help. !!
