Ok I need help . We have BIG problem with our laminate flooring. My brother had suggested viewing others floor to make our case stronger. If any of you or if you know of anyone who has laminate flooring, please could you let us view your floor We are most concerned abt the skirting as they not only use nails and silicon to fixed the skirting, they done a lousy job, with over-length skirt-panel and lousy cutting/fitting. All these result in BIG GAPS, which i seriously dun think silicon can mend it. Thank you thank you thank you

Hmm.. I guess i should spend some time in IKEA, I try tangs, robinson, takashimaya, limited choice. Though the department stores have some nice and unique one but the quality sucks *made in China*
-
Awww... more of those cute little army boyz... Come to think of it, We havn't thought abt the clock yet. Do you know any shops beside ikea which sell many photoframes. I have some pix which I would like to frame up. Don't dare to venture into fabric yet.

I shall use my finger first. I'm too nice. If its doesn't work, use a pen. Still doesn't work... Ok my darkside is slower coming out. I shall revisit again . May the force be with me !!

Hah! laser pointer! I shall search for mine. Thanks sumobear, good idea. All your replies tell me no point being nice. I think they are more scare of us then we scare of them (wrecking the house). I shall go tmr w/o my bro, he is just a hinderance.

Have a little chat with the man doing the laminate. Told him about the particles/dust/dirt, he said he told his man to clean and insist his man did. I ask him what does him mean by 'clean'. I relayed the whole convo with his man who had said that the dust no need to clean, he already spread them out. Well just as I predicted, me and bro become nice kitties. I even put in subtle hint that his workmanship is lousy. I asked my bro if he wants to change the skirting becos it is very obvious that its TOO LONG! The man just stand there quiet. And guess wat my bro did, he doubted me. Oh pls, its so obvious and he had said it last night. Maybe he just to burn-out or just worried that with their lousy workmanship will do more damage. Maybe I should go down again and ask them to change it, at least change the skirting in my room Edit: Now I'm pissed, I'm going down to ask for re-skirting

How Clean Is Your Floor Before Laminating
Bubsbunny replied to Bubsbunny's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
I'm not sure abt the overlay term. Generally they will just lay the laminate on top without using any adhesive. So the idea of clean floor from instructions is to make sure there is no unevenness. But my concern is the giirk giirk sound heard and with particles at the bottom, it might compremise the durality of both the foam and laminate. -
The only plastic chair i can think of in the kopitiam one. dunno whether slippery in bathroom. but i think if your floor is rough enough, it shouldn't be a problem. Or those japanese use one, but they are too low for your parents. I know they have anti-slip rubber at the bottom. Maybe carrefour has these Wood.... I won't choose it bc no matter wat will be mouldy after some time. I'm always hesitant getting 'fixed' stuff. wait fixed liao find that its an obstacle instead. Then jia lat
-
Why not use a plastic chair instead? Movable and they can choose to be in the rain or not.

That's the problem with me. Here I sound angry and firm but when in actual situation, I turn into a nice gal. I believe in cordial end to conflicts. Tmr my bro will talk to ID. He also sama sama. Here very firm, real situation ....hiaz... Maybe I should go with him.

I have a question and need advice from pple who have laminate flooring. How clean is your floor (cement screed) before laminate is laid? My rooms were still dirty with sand-like particles on the cement screed. I touch the floor and its seem like they never clean it after the major work. Asked the worker and he said no need to clean. He said the foam will absorb sound. But i check installation instructions which said floor need to be absolutely clean and even before laminating. When we walked on the flooring later, there are "griik griik" sound. Is this normal? Is it due to the particles or the planks itself?
-
There is no adhesive involve. Its more for unevenness. Also so many sand-like particle at the bottom sure got "grik''grik' sound one. Like walking on something with sand underneath. She told me dust is ok. I told her i agreed, but then hor its big particles lor those very easy to see one. That's why i go touch the floor. or else why waste my energy to squat up and down Too bad i dun haf foto. Just now went to check and they have almost finish skirting. But workmanship really CMI. I asked my bro for his opinion on the sound and he agreed sound like got sand. Anyway i asked ID "griik griilk" sound normal or not and ask her to see the skirting tmr too.

Ohh.. make sense. Impt point for lazy pple (like me) . We will have a family discussion and I have asked to see the handles before deciding. Now I have a problem. Does the floor need to be clean before installing laminates? I was there and saw the man just spread the dust evenly in the room . I thought they would at least vacuum it. If not I would have done it myself . I asked him like that so dusty can meh. He said no problem got the absorbance layer. Then i walked on the finished room (no skirting yet) and got click click sound. So can someone tell me does the floor need to be cleaned? Talked to tiller and its the tile fault. They replaced 2 pieces which really cannot make it. irasshaimasu = welcome , look out for spore version when u visit ranmen shop. Edit: Checked installation instruction and confirmed need to clean away dust. Called ID to complained and that man dared to say did clean!! Yay, he did sweep, sweep the dust evenly on the floor. d@mn I so mad, lied until like that. I was there and questioned him somemore!! I should stop being the nice gal!
-
Now we need to choose door handles. Which is more durable? round or long handle one? We are hesitant to use long one becos it kind of not as sturdy as the round one. irasshaimasu eR1c, sumobear, Mace Edit: chek tiller told bro the unevenness is due to quality of tiles and they will use chemical for the hollowness. They will only change 2 of it.

Do you think going to newspaper or TV help? Sometime these authorities bochap matters get notice when make into media. Isnt cheating considered a crime, moreover with many victims?
-
Its the trunking. There are gaps in between pieces of the plastic. We wanted her to redo the cover part of the trunking but she ends up covering them we plaster and paint. If we didn't check we might think its perfect during hand over. Meh, maybe we shouldn't complain too much since it look nice now just hope that the plaster don't crack after some time. My bro told ID and she is sending down tiller tmr to rectify minor things, not too sure abt retilling.
-
Sorry to hear abt your plight and glad that u have moved on. I really hate these cheaters Wonder does hiring a PI helps in your case to prove they are cheating. Though it is ex. Good luck to your reno!
-
I guess i should post here so i can chat abt my reno and to get advices and suggestion My other blog *point at siggy* has update till today. Today they done the first coat I went to see how is my colour sense and I'm quite please with my room Although the liv room, MBR and mum's room are shades of white, I can't see the difference. They all look same. The washer also came and do the first wash, finally get to inspect the place thoroughly My fave Now the part that make me:furious: I take back the word I posted in my blog about good tiling. When the protection layers was removed, I checked the liv/din tiles and some really CMI. There are hollow (mainly at the corner of it) and uneven tiles. Although they did a good job in making sure the tiles are straight, some of them are so not levelled that i can rub the dead skin of my heal If its just a litttle bit i won't mind, now we have to go through the trouble of getting them relaying and checking again. Regarding all the lobangs in the wire casing, ID told my bro will redo and send a better guy next time. Ends up just putting plaster and painting it. win already lor The big lobang at the difficult corner also same treatment. But only 1 day, plaster cracks. will see wat they will do next. This arrived at 7pm when i was about to leave LOCAL KRONO-FIX laminate All advice and suggestion spam are welcome

I think their quality really drop liao. Too many competitors, price cannot go up. So wat to do, drop quality lor. Maybe it could just be the pieces we re interested in
-
I still remember those old toys. The worse regrets is how my bro destroyed Chewbaca (the big monkey from star wars) and the MASK toys. If not now dunno can sell for how much. Does Mr Kiasu toys consider collector items

Frame shops in Bras Brasa do frames for artwork and they are on the expensive side. My mum did a frame for her Goddess of Mercy painting in Rochor centre. Price is $25 (w/o glass) compare to $100+ in Bras Brasa. I don't know if they help design in the layout.

The last time me and my kor went to see their funiture we were not impressed. They have nice one but the quality is bad. eg, drawers, keyboard pullout not smooth, doors of cabinet not aligned/can't be closed properly. Dunno is it becos it the display sets.
