Last Sat, I went to work-out in the garden below my block and took a closer look at all the EM units around the area. I discovered that 4 EM units have illegal bamboo pole holder. Tot of engaging reno contractor to do one set for me.

This design should be the 1st EM design in Singapore. Many owners built a roof on top of the balcony. And this design originally does not come with a toilet at the lower floor, just a wash area. This design should be around 20 year old now which I think is the best EM design in terms of space arrangement, esp I like the big balcony which can put at least 2 mahjong tables. This the smallest and last batch of EM w/o the individual rubbish chute which I'm staying now.

My flat's type of design is the smallest among the EM. My service balcony is too cramp if I have bamboo pole stands. As such, all the laundry is hang up. The drying part is quite ok when the roller shutter is fully open to air them.

I viewed this unit back in Dec 2006. I can't remember what is the asking price as they have not done valuation then. The Indian lady is quite nice, explained and showed us around her flat instead of the agent whom supposed to do his work. I did not get the flat as the main door is not facing to the direction that matched my 5-elements. Enjoy your renovation process.

Just checking .... Is your unit around the mid-floor (maybe 5th-9th) with a clear view overlooking some benches in the school canteen from one of the bedrooms? I tot I viewed this flat before also in late 2006, an old Indian lady's flat which she also rented out the other rooms.

My service balcony dun have the space to do this due to the design. I still prefer the "2nd generation" one with a big squarish svc balcony which can place up to 3 mahjong tables that can be accessed into from the kitchen and living room.

Indeed. This unit at the 8th storey is the only one that has the bamboo pole holder installed. I saw it while jogging the other day at the neighbourhood park.

How many types of EM designs are there? I notice those older EMs, perhaps those 1st generation one c/w bamboo pole holders to dry the clothings externally? After dat, the next 2 types of design do not c/w such bamboo holders. My question: can we install such bamboo holders with approval because I saw one unit at a nearby EM block at my area has one.

I'm a EM owner in Admiralty, bought a resale EM last year and shifted in 6 months back. I have taken photos during the renovation period but I'm just too lazy to post them. Anyone with the similar EM layout like mine? The floor area is smaller as compare to older ones, 144m².

Your EM is it the first generation which does not have a toilet (but a wash area instead) in the lower floor?
