It's really the rectifications and the mistakes. I don't understand why people can't do their work properly, or account for what they said. Hai. Hope yours will go smoothly too! Aircon shouldn't be too bad right?? -
Artbuild is infamous for their crappy work AZ is quite busy cus all the east side people also go all the way to Alexandra.
-
Ah... Ok. Then I think u can go down to IKEA Alexandra and ask? Don't go the tampines one trust me. Just ask him install the whole thing how much lor. Cus their prices didn't tally with the ones printed

Am getting really, really tired. I don't even wanna talk to my contractor anymore cus I'm so burnt out, so gonna let my hubby handle for this last week. Glass works have been done and kitchen door looks great! But my tempered glass top for the vanity is in the wrong color. Tomorrow the carpenter will come again for discussion of rectifications, plus my fireplace is coming tomorrow, then Thursday we will be clearing the debris after the plumber leaves. Friday the solid top guys are coming, and Saturday will proceed with chemical wash as scheduled. Hopefully the plumber can come after solid top and debris removal after that so they don't have to come down for two trips. Hai. Can't wait for it all to be over. -
U mean for both toilets? My vanity alone is $500 thereabouts but we're going to fight the amount. I got the drawers kind too from IKEA think $300+ with sink plus $120 min for installation... Added up to $400+ and still might have additional charges when they come down.

All IKEA. -
The frame is still particleboard Wash-stand with 2 drawers: Frame/ Rail/ Drawer front: Particleboard, Foil, ABS plastic Drawer sides/ Drawer back: Solid birch, Clear acrylic lacquer Drawer bottom/ Partition: Particleboard, Melamine foil, ABS plastic Your vanity looks shorter than normal? If it can be slightly longer (closer to the ground), that drawer could be made larger and in the same laminate? I think that might get you the same look as Godmorgon. My price was not too far away from custom so I just went with custom I suppose. Easier to maintain in the long run also la I guess. Not so nice, but we've had an issue with water ponding there and there was no damage to my cabinet at all, if it were IKEA... Well I know IKEA well enough to know that ponding does no good! IKEA stuff still needs protection. But the angmohs all use it, so if you really really love it then go for it lor! I think the current design is ok la, just that ya the drawer is a bit small.

Thanks for the tips! I will definitely secure it to the wall. I don't think I have it in me to DIY the support underneath... But I'm not intending to put anything heavy in it (remote controls and makeup maybe) so hopefully it'll hold up. -
Hey! I almost went with them (sooo close) since I was going to get the kitchen done by them as well. In the end, I let my contractor do everything. 2 reasons: (1) price of installation can bring it close to $500 anyway. I know, I've tried to ask. I liaised with AZ Interiors from IKEA Alexandra and the price quoted was >$120 for installation. So didn't save that much. Add in the plumbing by them (including sink / tap etc) and the cost might be even higher cus see next point. (2) Plumbing is slightly more difficult and troublesome according to my contractor. He said things were routed differently so it took him a lot of pains to install it. But if your contractor / carpenter is willing and able to go down to IKEA to take a look for you, then that shouldn't be a problem. But my contractor told me it was a hassle and he would do it for me if I really wanted... But in the end I decided not to trouble him any further. Don't think you need to convert any piping per se (piping provided by IKEA I think) but their people know how to install it best. You also need to have a glass shower screen since it is chipboard and better protection should be preferred. That said, their finishing is nicer than carpenters IMHO, but that's because I love IKEA's finishing - always looks double the price. I slightly regret not going for them though, since I really do not like the finishing of local custom carpentry. It really depends on how much you like it -- if you really prefer IKEA more than custom carpentry, then it might be worth the trouble. If not, everything do via contractor also easy la. HTH.

FURNITURE 4 (OFFICE) This is my barest space of all! So far, I've only purchased 2 pieces of furniture because... the room is small and I want to squeeze every inch out of it. The desk that I've been eyeing for a while. Sturdy and clean looking which makes my iMac pop. This is the place where I spend the most time in since I work from home. I have yet to find a suitable swivel chair or a classic chair that I liked enough. BOO. And this will be super decorated with my favorite things (coffeetable books and gold vases) for my desk background. So when I'm Skyping on my iMac, this is what my clients and friends see! I Skype a lot since my clients and work friends are mostly based in the US and the UK, so I can't have it facing something ugly! Still hunting for a work chair and sofa bed for this space. I also found an old IKEA PS side table that I am going to spray paint for this room. Should probably need more storage (maybe a 2 door BESTA storage that fits under the windows) and if I can fit in another small desk for the hubby, that'll be great! And that concludes my furniture hunt, mostly. I also have MOST of my decor settled (all carpets done; most flowers done; pending spray painting rocks to gold for bookends and an order for coffeetable books from Amazon; all wall art done except for one Etsy London prints order for my office). -

FURNITURE 3 (MASTER BEDROOM) Got this cream suede storage bed frame from FortyTwo. Fits all my criteria and my theme! 2 x Mirrored Sidetables for bedside storage Followed the idea for this wardrobe from IKEA for my bedroom. We're attempting to customize the top to make it fit like custom (I do NOT like custom made carpentry. I do not like the finish. Especially after seeing the results of my kitchen cabinets. They look fine, even great to others, but the finishing of IKEA is impeccable). We also loved getting glass shelves and nice drawers for our insides and compartmentalized for everything I could possibly need! They are the 5 panel doors + gold hardware which we obviously spraypainted. Haha! (madebygirl.blogspot.com) Have loved this dressing table for years! With a bit of DIY (think adding gold hoop drawer pulls to the drawer), this is gonna be the TV console in the master bedroom. The idea was hotels, where TV and the work desk shared a table. Additional space for make up, my hubby to game and anything else in between. -

FURNITURE 2 (DINING AREA) Wenge extendable dining table from FortyTwo. Got this because most extendable tables at IKEA did not allow for ample room between the legs for two chairs, but this did. Got four of these chairs from Taobao. They are considered "custom made" so I am still waiting for them. They are taking soooooo long. I ordered them since mid-October and they just got dispatched. By sea, it's only gonna reach me just about time for my move in in end November. Entryway table for decor and knick knacks. Decided not to go with black as the dining area right next to it is already dark (albeit with light carpet) so wanted to brighten the entryway a little. Plus, it'll be right next to a mint door! This fits with the assumption that we never open the smaller leaf of our main door. LOL! BOMB SHELTER AND SERVICE YARD (STORAGE) I got the ALGOT custom combi for my Service Yard's bare side -- totally free of pipings. Was gonna get for both sides but my washer dryer side is impeded due to the shifted gas heater. BAH! Still don't know what to do with that space, don't want my rabbits going in to bite wires or pee inside. They can get naughty when they want to! We got 1 x 58CM metal shelf for the table height shelf and 3 x 38CM metal shelves for the top shelves (for detergents and laundry and cleaning stuff). The space below is deliberately kept higher so that the rabbits don't feel so claustrophobic (that's their litter tray and eating space) and it's easy for us to change their litter trays with ease. We thought long and hard about this placement! My bunnies will only get the SY, kitchen and living room to run about in and the corridor + rooms will be totally closed out. This is a change since my buns are VERY SPOILED with a big space to run about in. But we didn't want the litter and hay strewn all around the living room, which will be shown to guests (and they get messy if they want to!!) so the SY seemed like the wisest option. Bought two of these (120cm wide) racks for my bomb shelter. They are not as "sturdy" as the boltless ones that everyone uses I suppose? But they are prettier to the hubby and I and I love the rounded corners on it all. 50kg per shelf is more than enough for us. I love that I can change it out as and when I like plus add on shorter ones if I need more space. Win win! -

FURNITURE 1 (LIVING ROOM) Settled for my two-seater STOCKSUND sofa, it's comfy, the covers are removable, and it fits right into my theme. Everything else would either be too classic or too modern. The beige is much lighter in real life, which I love. We got the last set at IKEA Alexandra! Followed this hack and spraypainted the VITTJSO coffee table gold. Love it! We unfortunately need to respray everything due to the dust not allowing the spray paint to adhere properly. It just scrapes right off. So we're redoing everything once the chemical wash is done. (NicoletteMason.com) We chose to have a faux fireplace as our TV Console. This item has already arrived in Singapore last week but due to hubby's work schedule, we could only have it delivered this Wednesday. BAH! Really hoping it turns out right. For extra seating, we went with ghost chairs (2) with a pouffe in between for extra storage (as an end table) and also as a leg rest when not required. Poufs from Spotlight were to add additional seating and to make the whole house cozier. Got two of these in cream and light grey. -
Seems like everyone is having a slow week. Haha! Your painter coming to touch up after furniture in? Your furniture prep already ah?

It's okay, I think a lot of us took a risk with our WCs (albeit mine wasn't IXISS) so go in faith that it'll be alright!! Small but steady steps, hopefully your next update will be even more fun!

Thanks guys!! We came to IKEA Alexandra to buy the remaining furniture (yes we are now done with ALL the main furniture in the house except the bomb shelter racks that were OOS here) and found a mirror in the exact shade as the cabinet. So hubby bit the bullet and bought it. Now to either sell the silver mirror or place it in my dining area - where it will go but will also look silly cus there's already a lot of mirrors in the living room hahaha! -
Actually yea this makes sense! I think we used to have something that worked this way. Hopefully it'll help Peachy!!

Agonizing over my choice of laminate in the guest bath! It's now a wenge color, slightly lighter than I'd like, and I've requested for silver knobs to be on them to bring out the modern classic feel. Now the top is a tempered glass white top; plus my square sink and a long rectangular mirror that's sprayed silver on the frames. It all just went horribly wrong... Only imagination here since I can't know till its up... But seems like the colors are all off. The laminate should've been a dark matte grey, so the white top and silver mirror could pop. Other option since cant change laminate is to spray the mirror frame a matte black or dark brown? Gahhhh kicking myself over the hurried laminate choice. -
So excited to see you back, but bummed to hear about the hob. Fujioh seems super popular so I'm pretty sure it's just something you're missing!! Hopefully someone has a good solution for you. Have you tried talking to fujioh?
