  1. I think Philips had a mop and vacuum combo. I would totally go for a handheld Dyson if you have the budget. I love my dyson and wished I bought the handheld version. I have a black and decker steam mop that I love. for the sink, you can try putting baking soda, leave for 30 minutes, then add table salt and use a wet sponge to gently polish the mixture throughout the whole area. It has always made my sink bright. For tougher water stains just use melamine sponge. Can find from Daiso.
  2. What material is the kitchen countertop and backsplash? Great job as usual!
  3. No! Only the Baron 888 comes with it. But he assured me no diff lah (he said just name only). Flush is good for me! My hubby is quite particular with flush but he says this is up to his standards? Some more much cheaper than B888 so nevermind lah. Take. Very chio and easy to clean some more. I know some people got the IXISS one even cheaper leh!
  4. Back on Renotalk because I recently budget-overhauled my service yard to make it usable and tailored to my use - wanted the SY to serve as a catch all for all laundry needs so not everything is in the storeroom. I spent no more than $100 on the SY. Pictures soon. I also sold away my entire dining set and am updating it with a tulip table! Always wanted a round table but don't know what convinced me to get a traditional one. My new dining area will cost me close to nothing after all my sales! Some updates to the master bath and kitchen as well just small ones to keep it organized and clean. Super love! Pictures soon!
  5. Hey there! it was from Taobao, with shipping came out to be $90-$100 a piece. We couldn't find any nice tufted chairs here so had to buy. http://tmqd.me/h.ZbnHa3?cv=AAFoTBwp&sm=0c02d0 hope that helps!
  6. Hey! Glad you got it installed. I hope you like it. I'm enjoying it - cooking almost everyday + bathing my gas bill last month was $6+. In colder months it didn't exceed $13. I like that it's environmentally friendly and does the job! can't wait to see it completed
  7. Love it! I wanted to do the concealed door for my MBR toilet too but alas the layout wasn't to my favor. Looks very good at the moment can't wait to see it finished!
  8. According to SCDF statistics, household fires are mainly caused by rubbish or unattended cooking. there was also an overall decrease in fire incidents in 2015. https://www.scdf.gov.sg/sites/www.scdf.gov.sg/files/Fire Incident Statistics Jan-Dec 2015.pdf honestly speaking, do whatever is comfortable for you. We, as other homeowners, cannot tell you what to do, and it already sounds like you made up your mind. We can only share what we have experienced. I have a very reliable electrician and my uncle is also professionally trained in the area (I think electrical engineering? Idk what his title is called), so when they tell me it's okay, I trust them. Hopefully no fires in our houses
  9. Same for me. All lights from Philips from TB. No issue, electrician also didn't point out anything, only tell me prepare to change with my aircons etc in 5+ years.
  10. Common for lurkers to be around and opportunistic in new estates... My contractor locks 2 locks at any one time (gate lock and number lock) if there's items in the house. Also, keep all items in the most non prominent part of the house... Sometimes from kitchen etc they also can see. Contractor says also don't know how they break in but all sorts of pattern also have one always try not to keep things inside, especially valuable things. Nice that your designer is compensating you...
  11. Hehe I love the bath mat, too. can't sit to see the rest of it!
  12. One more pro to a handle-less system is that your clothes won't snag onto them while walking, so less of a hazard. i love my handles but my contractor did point this out to me and it's true haha!
  13. Is he HDB registered? If yes, have you filed an official complaint? Sorry you had to go through this.
  14. Babe! You can go refund the decor strips... Should be an easy process since their returns policy is really great. awesome detailed write up! And I agree, eventually it was the installation cost that put me off. Btw, any reason u left a gap at the corner instead of doing a L-shaped unit? I know IKEA has those amazing corner pull outs.
  15. Aww so sad for you about the handles! We had no issues with the transportation! :/ we just left them standing I think. Yours probably needed to dry even more before picking. But I guess the plating will be even more gorgeous love your kitchen!
  16. PLUS Ikea has a great returns and warranty policy. I think Singaporeans often mistake Ikea = crappy because of chip wood or because of price... All it takes is knowing what to use for what purpose and taking care of the stuff! i agree with you. I've had Ikea stuff with me (the expedit range is indeed unbreakable) all the time through my own room to my rental to now my own home and I've had no problems. My custom PAX wardrobe has gotten a lot of compliments and some of my friends regretted their custom (super expensive) wardrobe. I couldn't have my IKEA kitchen so I'm super envious of yours! The inner Blum stuff really makes it worthwhile PLUS all the EXACT accessories you can buy to organize the insides makes my inner clean freak self weep in joy Hahahaha. Enjoy your new home! Can't wait for more pictures!
  17. I agree! With a modern repaint and changing of knobs the arch doors could look lovely!!
  18. I can't wait to see the finished product!!! So happy for you guys and Emma
  19. Buey pai right the rustoleum!! Especially the universal range. just letting u know in the high traffic areas (near sink etc) it does rub off, but my painter taught me the trick - for those handles that cannot be taken out, can just spray on a sponge and dab to cover up the areas that rubbed off. HTH! Can't wait for it to end so I can see the completed result!
  20. Love your Ikea kitchen!! This style flourishes in big enough kitchens! and Thank God you went with AZ, the nightmare would be worse with the Tampines peeps!! Haha. its all taking shape!! Excited for you!
  21. Your kitchen and toilet looks like it came out of Pinterest the hard work was well worth it!
