    This I really considered. Lol. My fireplace is 80cm tall instead of a full fireplace, which is the same height as the console table I wanted to buy as a tv console. Hubby and I don't like low tv consoles. So still not that bad for this.

    Haha thanks! Hopefully it'll turn out well. Took the chance to go back to the drawing board and found two similar styles and sizes with relatively new fireplaces.

    Bah. I get what you're saying but I'm not into the raw look. Lol! That's why my theme slowly floated into modern classic I guess. But you're right... A lot of it are because the character is not there due to the age of the items. Something to ponder. Asking my contractor to construct one though, IMO, is an even greater risk since he doesn't really want this challenge (lol), and it's gonna cost me at least 50% more or even double the cost of what I'm paying right now. So I guess it's a balance. Trial and error!

    Yeah I showed my contractor all my sketches. They are all done in pencil only though. LOL. The color part I agree, I have my vision with about 80% of it, but as you said let the details come in later so I guess I'll supplement colors with decor. Crossing my fingers and toes it works out... To a certain extent!

    Yeah, that's what my contractor tells me too! It comes in one piece so I can always place it somewhere to see if it works first before really securing it in. I get the hit or miss though, so far the faux fireplaces haven't been amazing in local houses. Am hoping the LED fire helps my endeavor... Am just following a few pics on Pinterest and hoping it works well. Lol. My hubby say, even Scandinavian in HDB was pioneered by one person before it spread like wildfire right... So he say we see nice can already. But I hope so...

    Interesting you should say that! Because I actually did draw out the entire north/south/east/west walls of the living room and it was what I envisioned. Liddat pass anot? Hahahahaha! I went old school. The ID softwares can't really create what I want.

    Hahaha I where got so fierce... Actually I also don't know how it'll look, quite a costly risk to take but gotta take some. Most apprehensive about the fireplace and medallion... Worried that I'm going a bit "over" with the theme, but I also don't wanna look like an IKEA showroom u know? Since I have close to no custom carpentry!

    Yep, it has already been noted. My space between the "small" fireplace and furniture is decent, and most fireplaces aren't wood-burning nowadays anyway. I have a few spots to place my fireplace in case it doesn't work out below my tv, so no problems there. Gotta take some risks during renovations right? After all we all don't want cookie cutter homes. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Bathroom don't know how to Siam, but I know a contractor gave me the idea of plastering the existing tiles and painting, then only tiling the area required for the kitchen.

    Hehe I think got 2 or 3 other homeowners with fireplace-like mantles... But don't think many have the LED fire inside! Haha! It's a risk that'll hopefully turn out well!

    Yeah I think I should just stick to my no digital lock next time upgrade to private then buy. Shall lock with keys for both for now.

    Finally caved and bought a faux fireplace. Complete with LED fire. Haha! Actually wanted to give up on this and get a console table, but think I would lose even more of my "London" charm. That said, didn't get a design that I really really wanted cus of the size (didn't want it to be too tall, so the 1.2m and 1.5m are out, so ended up with this. Can't wait to decorate the mantel!

    We were thinking of buying both digital locks for gate and door or not at all. :dontknow: Cus my hubby works night shifts, I alone at home never lock both like a bit scary at night. But good food for thought, thanks guys.

So just FYI. The medallion itself not too ex.
