Cus I pai mia lang. From young need do housework. So picked up a bit here and there. Baking soda and vinegar and magic sponge is like three MUST HAVES in every household. Then lemon also not bad. That said, marble stains quite hard to remove one lor (almost impossible) Engineered stones / surfaces are much easier to clean than natural ones IMO. Like for floors, marble and parquet like once gone is gone one... Need special things to clean. But tiles / acrylic / quartz all easy to clean. I heard people swear by Jif... But I personally find no use lor. So did you remove the yellow from the pestle... You guys also renters? Wahhhh unite man. He's resting now... Hopefully will feel better by 3pm! -
Hey bro, what diameter are your rain shower heads ah?

Haha yep. It should've ended much earlier, but it's good too as I've been having a busy biz period. The Gloria solid top looks almost 100% like real marble (even my contractor can't tell the difference), but Caesarstone and Silestone mock real marble quite well too, if you have the budget. Haha no leh, Corian solid top is more expensive than most Quartz! I have never had transfer issues... Maybe because I have a dedicated area for placing my groceries etc. Yes the blue/white magic sponge is the best! Also try rice vinegar, let it soak for quite a while but not till it dries up, and use the blue/white magic sponge to clean it! If you want better results, warm the vinegar in the microwave! I clean everything using vinegar and magic sponge. -
Hey funnysnow, Could you take a picture of the acrylic panels and the light inside it, if you have the time and if it's not too much trouble? If it is then nevermind la! I just curious to see cus I haven't done up mine with the acrylic panels. Congrats on almost completing your renovation!

Now the mister is sick. Sigh. Hopefully it passes and we'll still be able to head out soon. If not, then we'll have to wait! haha. Life. It happens, right? Bianco Ariston from iQuartz has some resemblance to marble. Real marble on its own is a no-no when I spoke to the guys at a granite and marble factory. He said it's impossible, though there are angmohs who still use it. Eh, not too sure, quite some time. I started in mid-Sept. That said, there's now about 2-3 weeks where there's no work done, but it's entirely my fault due to the custom carpentry. It should finish in early- to mid-November... Hopefully! -

Yes! Though have u seen the Quartz swatches? They aren't the most natural marble lookalikes. What do u think about them? But if the prices are too close I cannot justify getting one with more maintenance! That's why if the price is too good I'll go for Quartz. -

Haha, totally understand you. I already go down less often... My contractor handle a lot for me so I'm okay. Haha. Yours will be good la Hopefully I come to my senses re my rainshower and shower sets. Also so tempted by Toto and Grohe sinks LOL. Just sold a bunch of stuff on Carousell and packed my first box of stuff for moving! Hahaha! -

Yes! Apparent Quartz is more stain and scratch resistant as it's less porous -

Haha, I understand. I started out feeling this way... But when people give me opinions on a lot of things, I get swayed! Like, I am thankful that my lights turned out well. Haha. Didn't take any opinion for the paints and it turned out a bit not what I expected. Made me a bit scared for my countertop now! I was so set on my solid top earlier this week. I'm also having second thoughts about my rainshower set and shower sets and sinks. HAHAHA! Feel like going "safe" and buying a smaller rainshower set for the Guest BR and then a rainshower set for the Master BR too. Jialat manz. I already sold my bidet sprays on Carousell and bought new Rubine ones. I'm too easily swayed even though I have the general idea in my mind so clearly. That's why I say, I need the reno to be over!! -

Found this at Selffix, supposed to clean and give a protective coating to resist stains and keep it cleaner for longer. It's affordable (a little more than my usual natural, cruelty-free kitchen cleaners) and I only need a bit of it at a time. So I suppose this could be the answer. And it has relatively good reviews on Amazon. So I suppose the answer has already been made for me, unless Lian Hin gives me hope tomorrow! I keep thinking if the solid top was the "easiest" option, is God pointing me to it. Hahaha! Because all the other parts of my reno have been smooth, and the parts that haven't been is where I was insistent and stubborn (IKEA kitchen alert). -

I don't know - iQuartz isn't my favorite (their Bianco Ariston is marble-like, but still very quartzy haha!), and I won't take them unless they slash the price by half ($220 to $110pfr). It is my least favorite out of all the designs. The solid top is my favorite out of all the designs, and I'm happy with the test, but everyone keeps harping on how bad it will look. I don't know, with the ECs/DBSSes and even premium condos using solid top, I was thinking it wouldn't be that bad? I just looked through all the T-Blogs with solid tops and no one is super duper unhappy with it it seems. I also bought a specialized solid top cleaner from Selffix! Haha. I am staying at an EC now and use solid top - I won't say it's the easiest to maintain, just needs a clean every time I cook. If not, it's still clean-able just more troublesome. It is more work, not gonna deny that! For Lian Hin, I'm gonna give it one last go and go down to their showroom tomorrow to see the slabs in action. And then confirm the prices with them. If it's closer to $130pfr, then we might reconsider if we are okay with the designs in big slab form. Haha. But if it's $180pfr, I'm gonna give up on Quartz. Silestone and Caesarstone is way out of budget, and I'm paying a lot of mark up for the import fees I suppose, so I don't want to waste $3-4k on countertops for a tiny kitchen, you get what I mean? Sounds silly even. That said, if I do have extra budget and Quartz is still out, I might do up the entire backsplash in the marble solid top (like in my sample picture). Since the $90pfr is such a wallet-friendly price. Does that make more sense? Thanks for helping me bounce ideas and figure out what I need and want! -
Hey babe, did you do solid top for your kitchen instead of Quartz?

Hahahaha! I know right? I am confused now, too. Apparently the normal iQuartz / LH models can be gotten at $110 - $130pfr. I was quoted $220pfr by their direct sales rep though, for iQuartz, and quoted at least $180pfr for the LH marble-like models. Solid top is $90pfr now, I am double confirming the price with drop profile and backsplash. Silestone was at $197pfr and Caesarstone $250pfr last I checked. It all seems crazy to me! That my tiny 3R kitchen has a countertop that is costing so much more money than so many other things in my house. And I only have 13ft worth! -

HEY BABE. We always miss each other on our IKEA outings. Haha! To be honest, quality wise + looks wise, the solid top lives up to its name and price. The LH Quartz were a whopping $180pfr. And we don't LOVE the slabs. But that's a good tip.. We should probably set a budget for it and get the best price. >.< Thanks for the input. -

Some people like Quartz designs, some hate it to the core. Haha. I know of friends who really dislike Quartz designs... I hate that it's always dots and bits and not streaks like real marble... And the designs always Dalmatian pattern one. Solid top designs are much more natural. If want really like marble really only Caesarstone and Silestone can create the effect... It's subjective la. That's why I don't like to tell people what things "good" and what things "bad". Cus after all we each have different preferences and different vision... -

I just realized iQuartz is quoting me like $220pfr which is madness. Much more expensive than Silestone which quoted $197pfr. My contractor is now helping me get from LH Quartz instead! Thanks guys, for forcing me to revisit the iQuartz quote. If not I would have assumed that the price was crazy like that. Hopefully LH Quartz will be much more responsive and reasonable for me! -

Not too sure if my contractor will have much more difference but I'll ask him... Their marble like countertop is not our fav so we did not pursue it. We will probably still go for the solid top since I am very careful in the kitchen most of the time (I have a lot of pot rests and towels on surfaces.) My hubby will be the ultimate decider I guess... Haha... -

In fact, a LOT of HGTV makeovers use laminate flooring and solid top... Hahaha... My dad say we pay until used to it already. This is straight from iQuartz... -

HGTV a lot also use solid top! LOL. There is zero scratches or chip off from my current solid top la. Angmohs also like to use Caesarstone and Silestone. iQuartz colors are not nice la. Their only one closest to marble I was quoted straight from them at $2k+. -

I don't know why people keep saying that. The EC I'm staying at, heavy cooking, my landlord's one still as good as new. Scratches, definitely, but not stained. And we also never specially go scrub it... Same like everyone keep telling us 22W not bright enough all, end up is super bright... I mean, forgive me maybe I might sound defensive la, but solid top also got different qualities / ranges what. Everyone say until it's like trash, but it's still very popular in many different parts of the world, no? At the end of the day, Quartz, with uglier design, costs 2 - 3x more than this solid top... So weighing pros and cons, we decided to go and try lor, no choice. Our next choice is Caesarstone, quoted at $3960 for our tiny kitchen, and then Silestone, quoted at close to $2600, and then iQuartz, which is at least $2300... And who wouldn't mind something looking "old and dated after 2 years"? Of course we mind! But the truth is as I googled and reviewed solid top is still a very popular choice worldwide, and of course, is more susceptible than the rest but definitely not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. I guess we all wouldn't know unless someone tried? After all a lot of ECs and Condos in Singapore are using solid tops... Especially premium solid tops... -

Haha cus everyone kept telling us how bad solid top was... :/ but it was the only one closest to marble and that doesn't cost like $200pfr. Same like my lights... People kept telling me otherwise haha!!
