i just finished my bedsheet shopping also! bought two sets of queen bedsheets (no quilt covers). one from Robinsons at $71+, another from John Little at $38 (clearing stock, last piece. but i also saw at NTUC Fairprice Extra for same price). Akemi is also selling at John Little for $80+ now! Considered getting, but the $38 one was just too tempting... haha. personally i think the material used feel about the same for the cheaper range. the extra nice ones really cost a lot more at $200+ and up...

hi hojicha, mr k's quote only includes dulux paints (pentalite / wash & wear) right? are you going to try asking him for nippon or just stick with dulux? thanks! -

false ceiling and light boxes will be up over the next few days. Air con installation is on Saturday. We got a cheapo Midea system 3 that was on discount ($1888! + free brandless robot vacuum) at NTUC Fairprice and will be installing it in all three bedrooms. We're not heavy air con users. We're thinking of running the trunking along the corridor instead of inside the rooms, in case it gets in the way of any potential full-height wardrobes/shelving. Also not planning to box up the trunking for easier future maintenance. Any downsides to not boxing up and running trunking along the corridor? Other than it being not pretty... haha. It seems like most new home owners box up their air con trunking!

*meow Residence* 4 Room: Where The Sun Rises
lemoncandy replied to myzticalz's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat
Asking myzticalz -
reno started today! the electrician okay-ed adding a power point in the bathroom, but it won't be concealed in the wall. there will be a safety cover for it. I also requested for 2x13A on the exterior wall of the household shelter. these were intended for charging of phones and stuff. but I found out today that it's illegal to pull points there as it is a load bearing wall + household shelter wall. so no more points there. electrical works will be completed by tomorrow

i think it's interesting how you are choosing to do an L-shaped kitchen instead of the typical galley or "two row" kitchen that most of us BTO owners go for! any reason why you chose to do L-shape? -
i really wanted the stool! saw it at the jcube outlet and decided to think about it. went back and it was gone. vivo's cleared out too. sigh. well, enjoy yours!!

wow, the defects sound quite bad! hope that BSC will get it resolved smoothly for you. good luck!

Yep, our bedrooms' ceiling fans come with light kits so that should help. For the living room, I thought of installing a dining pendant lamp, but yet still want the flexibility of moving the table if I need to, so I shelved the idea. My parents' place has a similar lighting layout at the dining area and it works fine for us though. If it really is a bit too dark maybe I'll have to angle one or two track lights at the dining area then... hmm. But thanks for raising this! I'll update after the lights and furniture are up

Here's the lighting plan that was discussed with our contractor: My initial thoughts were to have another row of track lights outside the kitchen, instead of the current false ceiling with two down lights. but due to the unique nature of our self-designed shoe cabinet/divider (the husband designed it!), the contractor suggested using false ceiling to stabilise it. No 3D drawings to visualise this... but the husband and i (renovation noobs) decided to trust the contractor. We'll see how it turns out after carpentry is in then

Yup! We mostly bought from Tmall merchants. Total chargeable weight is 29.99kg. Shipping fee (sea freight) is $105, agent fee is $65.94. We will be opting for home delivery, which is another $8.

Lights shopping is my LEAST favourite part of the renovation process so far. We planned to get: - 6 LED down lights for living room - 7 LED down lights for bedrooms - 2 tracks + 8 LED track lights for living room and corridor - 1 LED ceiling light for kitchen - 1 LED ceiling light for balcony - 4 ceiling lights for the bathrooms, service balcony and household shelter After visiting a few light shops, I gave up and threw this part of the reno to the husband. Initially, we intended to get only tracks and track lights from Tao Bao, but I think the physical shopping got to him too, and he decided that we will get EVERYTHING from Tao Bao. We are getting Philips lights for all of the above, except track lights (no brand). Total cost came up to about $900 including shipping and agent fees (we added in a couple of extra down lights and track lights, just in case). We are using 65daigou. We were quoted about $1.8k for the same items at lightings.com.sg, which I already thought was quite reasonable? I think it's quite a big risk, given that we have never ordered anything from Tao Bao before this. Package has been shipped from China and will reach SG in 12-16 working days. Crossing my fingers and hoping for the best!

We decided to fix up ceiling fans for the living room and three bedrooms. For the bedrooms, we are installing a single-row light box as well, so space is limited and we are constrained to ceiling fans that are 46 inches and smaller. Initially, we were gunning for the white KDK baby fans at 44 inches each, but shops have been telling us that this model is phased out in Singapore. We don't have a car so shopping in JB is out, even though I've read on renotalk that the fans are still available there. After days of fan shopping, we decided on the Acorn Ventilateur 203 42" in white for each of the bedrooms. For the living room, we went for a Crestar Twin Air 48" in matte black. Wanted a Haiku, but no $$$. So set my sights on a Relite Petite, but shops keep telling me that Relite fans are no longer as good as they used to be. I gave in and got a five-bladed fan instead of my ideal three-bladed one, but I refused to budge on the matte black, so there.
