  1. hahaha all that drama! luckily everything turned out fine in the end. and thank you for making me feel better hahaha. i think all IDs/contractors charge more here and charge less there... so maybe your doors cost more but other stuff is priced better!
  2. good that you did your homework! for me....... hai.. this is the price of being lazy :P lol
  3. your completed reno looks really good! especially the kitchen and bathroom
  4. hi hi, like i said, i didn't research on prices so i do not know what's the direct supplier price... and i believe that if you're getting stuff through a third party (e.g. contractor, ID) and not direct from supplier, the price will undoubtedly be higher right? haha.
  5. yes i chose solid wood (nyatoh) bedroom doors, in the hope that they will block out noise better than classic doors. i didn't research on prices though!
  6. hi minzai, i paid $1650 for three solid bedroom doors and $440 for two toilet bifold doors (:
  7. hi the code is QCG 7587 ZM. I can't remember the brand, sorry!
  8. almost there! forgot to take a picture of the front of the shoe cabinet/divider... plumbing also completed today. mirrors in the bathrooms are also up. we got bamboo mirrors from ikea. no pix cos i forgot... oops. pending: - painting of bomb shelter, service yard and door frames - varnishing of bedroom doors - glass panels and varnishing of kitchen door - glass backing for kitchen - minor rectifications
  9. oh no then what's your decision in the end? i didn't want to box up initially, but if i didn't, the glass backing would come in 5 pieces instead of 1 smooth piece and it seemed like the lesser evil to box up the concave... i'll just have to treat it like the space never existed.
  10. i bought lights from taobao. not planning to buy anymore at the moment. haven't thought of installing films yet! did you install? any review?
  11. yes the kitchen design is quite a headache. the deep side has 12cm concave which my contractor boxed up eventually... wasted the space. oh and 2nd week of june is soon! so exciting!
  12. hey, for the smaller side, our concrete base is definitely less than 50cm. the countertop depth is about 50cm or slightly less. i'm not sure what's the exact measurement though!
  13. thanks songz! i don't know if it's cos i'm very sui bian or what, but so far only one issue that i felt seemed more major. the shoe cabinet bench area was not aligned properly with the full height cabinet area. i called mr k and sent him a picture and he straightaway admitted that it wasn't done properly and he will get his guys to redo. so ya, can't complain. everything else seems like minor issues (occasional rough edges in carpentry). so i predict that we will peacefully resolve these at one shot at the end of reno. really crossing fingers that everything left will be completed smoothly! it's been a smooth sailing journey so far and i'm very glad for it
  14. quartz top is up i chose Pearl White, which has specks of grey stone throughout. mr k says the pure white one can still stain but the speckly one won't... not sure how true this is but i'm not taking any risks.. haha. so speckly it is. dry side of the kitchen with the same quartz top hood and oven are wired up! there's an extra 20amp switch for the hob. the model we bought uses battery for the starter, but in the event that we switch to an electric one next time, the point is already wired. for now, it has no use. bedroom doors are installed the MBR one has a deep chip in the top right corner though.. got to get it fixed.. and the simple door handle/lock we chose pending: - wood/glass kitchen entrance door (already delivered. need to install glass panels, varnish and install frame + door) - plumbing and gas turn on (tomorrow) - kitchen glass backing - bits of carpentry (finish up shoe cabinet, missing drawer front under oven) - painting - minor rectification works and we should be done!
  15. hi! thank you my husband will be happy to see this haha. yes the legs are made of plywood and laminated.
  16. hi neighbour! u guessed the block right haha how is your reno going? my husband wasn't 100% into the idea of craftbrick at first too but now we both love it hope to see you around too!!
  17. hi dwinsplace, ocean and azysic are right. for my BTO there is no turn off charge since there is nothing to turn off. mine cost $120. first appt to run the pipes (contractor will mark out where so citygas installer knows) and second appt is to connect to gas appliances and turn on gas. in my case, I only have the hob. others may have gas heaters and gas dryers as well
  18. plumber is coming by this saturday and i've arranged for city gas turn on for the same day. seems like the end is near!
  19. your orange black and decker set looks brand new! definitely doesn't look 10 years old. how did you maintain them so well?
  20. Hi kstoh, it advertises similar functions as your Fujioh. http://fujioh.sg/hood_products.php. obviously i haven't tested it yet so my own update will probably only come in a few weeks. when researching on the FX 900 i found this review pretty useful and will probably help explain why i bought it: http://renovation-greencoal.blogspot.sg/2011/03/review-fujioh-hood-fx-900.html
  21. Kitchen appliances Fujioh FX-900 hood -- our very first plan was to do away with the hood. my mum in law as one now but it doesn't do its job well so she contends with mopping the kitchen floor each time after she cooks. however, after considering the layout, we realised that unless we cook in a completely closed-off kitchen, fumes will still reach the clothes hanging in the service yard. suffocating in belachan fumes doesn't sound fun, so we decided to get a hood again. did my research and found the fujioh. functionality > aesthetics any day. hope it works as well as advertised! Bosch HBN331E2J built in oven -- the standard entry level oven from Bosch. i used this oven at my own place before moving over to my husband's place. i like it, it works fine for me (i used to bake quite regularly), and i'm not willing to spend any more money than what i'm already paying for this Bosch, so we got the same one for our new place. Tecno T22TGSV 2-burner glass hob -- we were looking for a two burner glass hob with no brand in mind. the lady at the electrical shop where we bought all our electronics recommended this and we said ok (didn't do any research). got the safety valve version, especially because our kitchen is windy. bonus is this comes in white glass (can choose from 5 colours or smth)! can match our sparkly white quartz counter top :P Hitachi R-SG37BPS 3-door fridge -- due to the size of the kitchen (i.e. very small), i didn't want to get an oversized fridge. i loved the 60cm fridges the japanese brands were making, but most of them had a million doors and cost an arm and a leg. we also wanted a bottom freezer. AND we also preferred a separate veggie bin. hunting for the perfect fridge was almost impossible.... until we chanced upon this Hitachi at Harvey Norman! Courts didn't carry it. went back to HN almost every weekend for several weeks to keep looking at it until we were sure this is the one. we finally got one in black (not from HN though.... haha). so happy!
  22. hi, I don't have a breakdown as it is lumped tgt with my carpentry quote. sorry I can't help!
  23. the shoe cabinet that hubby designed! :) and the interior with adjustable shelving. drawers for the bench area. sanded and vanished raw plywood frame for the passageway master bedroom wardrobe. the doors are an off-white linen-textured laminate that i loveee. my side of the wardrobe. and hubby's side!
