  1. My bubbles had been resolved by my contractor ... peeled off, plastered and then painted. took about 1-2 hrs. Not so bad though. As for the shower head and mixer, you may want to change it after a few months of usage ... at least you used them before replacing ... hehehe ... same idea of changing tyres when just collected a new car ... drive for a few months before replacing them with better quality ones. Old flats less design and fanciful things ... nowadays .... they want to make you "wow" with nice thngs, but compensated with poor quality ... only nice to see for a while .... Am still waiting for Mr Tan or Peter to update me on the bowls. Maybe they are still sourcing for quotes and getting them approved. Wait lor ... I recalled the first time Peter called me .. was back in May08. The next time we were notified of the replacement of the flush was back in Aug/Sep08 ... took about 3 mths ... so we are not surprised that they will only replace our 2 bowls at Xmas period. Saw MP earlier this morning at the market, just opposite the Police Post, surrounded by many men ... what ocassion?
  2. Agreed. In July, we saw a long hairline crack (across the sstudy room). Worst still .... two big bubbles (that popped out from the paint, inner wall problem) appeared. No choice but to call my contractor to feedback. he was nice to get his man to come over to touch up for me ... but tell you all ... messy is the word ... but now all okie liao ... only left with one last problem ... the partition wall in MBR ... btw our bed and the walk-in wardrobe. Can see obvious lines between the wooden boards ... must be caused by the building movements .... have already tried mending it thrice ... but the lines still come back ... have toyed with the idea to have the whole partition wall wall-papered .... now waiting for the spare cash to come year end before deciding. Also the mixer in the MBR drippig after bathing .... super bad quality .... Same as Jule, we changed only the flush system. Backflow Problem persists. Now awaiting for Peter or Mr Tan to call me to change the bowl .... hope they will call soon .... Update you guys again .... cheers. Happy Weekend!
  3. Peter called me on Tuesday to inform me that they will a new brand bowl for me .... and I requested it to be a dual flush as well .... update you again ... cheers.
  4. Well done guys. My two beloved Ferrari drivers and pit team must have too much of a drink the night before ... how can that happen in a professional F1 race .... when the fuel hose was still intact with the car and the other staff shouted to move off ... sigh .... and how can someone starting from position 3 to crash with 4 laps remaining ... must be lack of sleep due to cheong'ing. Anyway, Alonso was lucky and near to perfect at the mid till the end of the race. Hope Ferrari can pick points again in Japan (another most difficult track in the world). As for tmr MP visiting session tmr at 7.30pm, we are not ard as gg to mum's hse for dinner. Can someone please highlight to them about the followings: 1) Paintwork at the void-deck (can touch up??) 2) The infest of rats and millipedes in the vicinity (still can see BIG rats dashing across pathways). 3) Vandalism and poorly-facilitated & ventilated roof garden at blk 88 (smell of LJS). 4) For LTAL: Possibility of sychronizing the traffic light (pedestrian crossing) located near Blk 88A? Currently, need to wait a couple of minutes to cross 1st section, then wait another couple to cross the 2nd section, end up ... waiting a bit too long to cross the short distanced road. 5) Toilet bowl flushing problem .... Mr Tan fm Queenstown's HDB BO will know this well (problem persists after the change to the dual flushing system). 6) Anymore??? There will be a Tanglin Halt Welcome Party on 18th October (Sat), 4pm to 9pm, at Blk 88A. For details, you can refer to the banner hang near to the zebra crossing (just outside Sheng Shiong). Hope to see you guys there .... cheers.
  5. Yes, with arrogrant attitude and less experience, I believe Massa will win tonight, both race winner and fastest lap, and with the fact that he won the pole position yesterday night .... the qualifying race was so exciting .... Massa was leading till the last minute when Lewis overtook Massa's fastest recorded lap ... phew ... my bet on Massa was safe when Massa zoomed past the finishing line to get back his number 1 position at the very last second ... good race Massa! Pole Position: Ferrari Massa 2nd: McLaren Lewis 3rd: Ferrai Raikkonen
  6. If you can leave the main door untouched, then of cos its the best. But if you or your husband wants to change the colour due to design or colour matching issue, I would personally suggest lamination rather than changing the whole door. Trust me. HDB door is tested, guaranteed. Though the price may be the same as changing the whole door, who knows if they really change the whole door for u, or just lamely bring it back to factory, machine-scrub the top surface and then do some lamination for U? ANyway, just my thoughts. Final decision still lies on you .... but then, if you want to change the door handle, knob, key ...etc ... then of cos more worth while to change the whole door ... but you may want to source this separately yourself, using his as a comparsion. Nice blog ... I believe your house will be very nice ... can submit for magazine or tv liao. Cheers.
  7. F1 tonight ... better .... support Ferrari Massa .... race winner and fastest lap .... yesterday practice was Alonso the fastest lap recorder. Hope tonight Massa can use his cool to win this category .... Lewis crash you go.
  8. Some updates on the new dual flushing system: Managed to contact Mr Tan from the branch office on Monday at ard 1030am. Said he will contact Peter who is in charge of this toilet thingy. Waited till 1230pm and no call. Hence, I call Peter's hp directly. Got his hp back in May when he called to get feedback on the toilet bowls. Peter said he will get his men to come up and I requested them to come before 1.30pm as I got an appt at 2.30pm and got to leave at 2pm. Sigh, the 2 Bangas arrived at 1.55pm and spent about 35mins trying to mend the leakage from the top unit internally. Saw them using some plasticine like kind of sticky thing and paste on the white screw, inside the tank. So far I have been monitoring and glad to say there is no more water dripping. Thumbs uP! But for the clearance of big motion, the new dual flush got the same problem with the single flush. As mentioned by JULE before, it takes 2 or 3 times to flush before you see clear water. Already feedbacked to Mr Tan about this as well (yest morning 8am when he called me to check on status). But quite like the small flush for small motion. So far, anyone else have changed to the new dual flush? Feedback? When is yours, SPACE?
  9. For a start, buy a home insurance policy, enuff to cover the valuable contents in the house. Secondly, install a fool-proof padlock. Good to invest for a good one ... Thirdly, if budget allows, install security alarm or CCTV. As for the latter, it can be tampered if the burglar has knowledge about CCTVs. Cheers.
  10. Yes, its somewhat linked but not wholly linked in that sense. The somebody can either from the government or some environmental-related or recycling companies (TC can liaise and work out something with them). But of course, recycling is a habit. Is possible that even a recycling bin is available at each block, there will be people who still prefer to dump things at the RCA or straight into the chute. Anyway, its just a thought to share with the residents here .... at the moment, no choice but to walk all the way to the current bins at the taxi stand while on route to work or exercise. Cheers.
  11. Dear all, there was an article in TODAY papers dd 20th Sep (Tues) pg 20. Am abstracting part of it to share with the residents in Tanglin Halt: Abstract of "Make it easier to recycle" .... The Government should help to make recycling a lifestyle, rather than force people to pay for access to recycling facilities. it should be made easier for someone to recycle his trash. Since rubbish collectors dump recyclables together with the trash, which is later sorted at recycling points, there is no need to differentiate paper, glass and cans before collection. Also, recycling should be made convenient, instead of having centralised recycling bins that residents have to walk a long way to get to. One recycling bin located at each block will encourage residents to put in more effort. Recycling should be rewarded. If the karung guni man is able to make a living tin cans, cant enrepreneurs think up some profitable recycling programme? ...... I agreed with the 2nd para, where the recycling bins shd be made more easily available and accessible. Shall wait for the officials to reply to this reader (Donovan Lo). Cheers.
  12. What a gloomy boring Monday evening .... waiting for the sky to fall dark ....

  14. Agreed too. Will just bear for the toilet for another 2 years and see how then. Would prefer to drill the bowl to the ground for stability reasons. Just managed to contact Mr Tan from the branch office. Said he will contact the person in charge, Peter, to call me back ... till now, no reply. Hope to hear from him today, so that the water dripping problem can be resolved soon.
  15. Hi, great to know a tanglin halt neigbhour here. I am staying at blk 91. I saw one of our neighbours who change or rather re-colour their door to full grey to match their interiors. As such, you may discuss this possibility with your ID or contractor. Have you start your reno? When are you shifting in?
  16. Used the toilet this morning. Feedback: 1) Water dripping at the MBR bowl, underneath one of the white plastic screws. Think that guy did not assemble the screw and washer properly. Water been dripping drop by drop since last night. Was surprised to see the floor wet when home last night. Will call Queenstown HDB tmr. Super sian! 2) Pass big motion this morning and used the big flush. Though most of the motion is gone, but the water still a bit unclear .... i.e. brownish water ... got to use the small flush to get rid of the unclear water. Will continue to monitor this situation. TYM, since the old flush is not so good, can give the dual flush a try ... but as said, no guarantee it will be 100% foolproof. You know what I meant. Thanks Jule. Think I will just call the main line or the 1800-275 5555 lor. Scarely they say got many Mr Tan, which Mr Tan ...then I will bang wall liao ... sigh.
  17. Hi Jule, do you still have the contact number of Mr Tan. Thought of calling him next week, to feedback about the new flushing system (be it good or bad). The last time he called me was from a private number. Thanks.
  18. hehee ... cos there's the place that I will go too ... if not the famous duck rice at Seah Imm FC plus a cup of ginger teh from the indian shop. Yes, weather is very good today .... nice for washing clothes ... too bad I did not have the time in the morning as was waiting for the HDB's subcontractor to change the toilet flushing system for me ... till now, I quite like the flushing system ... dual flush ... have used the semi-flush ... quite powerful and the flushing sound definitely more powerful than the old one .... have you changed urs?
  19. Yes Sohzai, please feedback on the useability soon hor. As for both of my toilet bowls, the HDB sub-contractor came this morning and changed the flush system for us, FOC lar. Now is the dual flush. Its seems that the each flush is slightly more powerful ... but yet to try to flush with BIG motion ... will update you guys again later next week (hope not the same problem as Jule, who needs to flush 3x to get things cleared). And if the backflow problem persists, then got to consider changing the whole bowl. And according to the sub-contractor just now, no matter what, there is a need to drill holes onto the floor, to screw the lower bowl to the ground, hence may or may not affect water proofing. Sounds scary leh. Anyone to advise on this? Hi TYM, so did you manage to go to Hort Park? Actually, can jog from our estate to Hort Park ... follow bus route 51 or 100 (after Queenstown CC) .... I did a few times liao ... from the point starting at HP Building, jog upwards all the way till you reach the peak ... then walk thru another small path and you will reach the wooden bridge that leads to either MT Faber Safra or Harbourfront .... quite a nice long walk and jog. Sure sweat and at the end of the day, both your wife and you can enjoy breakfast (bread and kopi) at either Ya Kun (Safra) or Wang Jiao (Harbourfront, next to Cheers). Enjoy!
  20. QUOTE(skyspectrum @ Sep 9 2008, 12:27 PM) Recycling Bins at Tanglin Halt: There are two recycling bins next to the CW mrt entrance, located just before the taxi stand, opposite the Kodak shop. But I realised that the bins are often full, cos the shop owners and residents desposit their unwanted things there. End up poeple just throw the rubbish/bags at the base of the bins .... quite a unsightly scene. Then last weekend, I went jogging at the Strathmore/Queenstown area. They have more recycling bins located at the void deck of some blocks. I snapped some photos of the bins (bigger than ours). Din manage to upload here. But can see the similar kind at this website: http://www.sulo.com.sg/business/prb.html (the ones located at Strathmore/Queenstown area) http://www.sulo.com.sg/business/recycle.html (the current ones we have) If there are more recycling bins located at each void deck of 89, 90 & 91, then we can actively help tosave the environment ... e.g. can recyle jam containers, plastic bottles (bath, shampoo, sauce), papers and many others). Any one to support this idea? Ok, support you. Who else here is also supportive of the "Recycle, Reduce and Reuse" campaign? Please support the notion of having recycling bins at our void decks ..... links as above ... Cheers
  21. Thanks Vineyard for the info. How long have you since changed to the Toto bowl? Do you still encounter the backflow problem? Hmm ... you train once a year for the SC marathon ... you must be kidding rite? Most of the time, the runners are superbly good ... and that is why this year I did not sign up. I dont usually job at 6.15pm ... depends on what time i reach home. Maybe the next time I bring along my Omron pedometer (MIJ - made in japan one hor). I guess it shd be ard 7 to 8km. But its a good training for a normal 10km or half marathon. Good luck for your SC marathon. Cheers.
  22. Same here .... the HDB guys will be changing the flushing systems for us this week. Will give it a try first ... if situation doesnt improve, then we will explore upgrading to a better brand. Saw this brand "Johnson Suisee" at this website, their price seems quite reasonable ... $170 (for bowl) and $70 (for labour). So about $170+$170+$70 = $410 in total (assuming one time labour for 2 bowls). can even choose your preferred colour ... i quite fancy the sunrise colour, match the colour of the toilet wall tiles. http://renohub.com.sg/bowls.htm Toto bowls: http://www.bathroom.com.sg/page10.html High end bowls: http://www.bathrooms.sg/product_list.php?id=29 I am just concerned and worried about the toilet floor tiles. It is quite impossible to find the same length and breath of toilet bowls. Will the installation of the new bowls affect the floor tiles? Vineyard, since you have changed, please share with us, if there any damage or unsightly spaces after installing the new ones? Saw this forum at renotalk: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?sh...mp;#entry296396 Is it true that the bowl is always on top of the tiles ... just that they need to remove the white thingy surrounding the base of the bowl? *confused* Space, you got PM. Cheers. I think is that kind of toilet cover with washer .... just like those in Japan ... press some buttons aand they can wash your butt butt after motion. Also helpt to warm the seats ... but in Singapore ... is it necessary? heehee ... here is the photo of it: http://www.alibaba.com/product-tp/11637426...ilet_Bidet.html
  23. Hmm ... did not manage to see your message yesterday. In fact, I went jogging at about 615pm from our void deck towards queenstown MRT and then via the queenstown/dawson jogging track towards Delta Road. 1st end pt is the Delta Road (i.e. opposite Valley Point). Rest for 3 mins then job all the way back (reverse route). Should hit abt 8 to 10 km. Now training my chin-up using the monkey bar available at the roof garden (beside the Care Centre), though you will be accompanied by all the frangrance emitted by the fast food rest. But would be cool if we can form a jogging team and jog together .... scarely I cant follow the pace ... haha. How about the rest? Interested?
  24. Yes I wear specs since sec sch days. Haha. I walk, jog and run occasionally. Hmm ... saw a pair of slippers outside ... is it yours? hehehe .... How abt you? Do you walk and jog as well? Catch me if you can ....
  25. Hi Vineyard .... can share your lobang where you got your new toilet bowls? And roughly how much? Jule, wanna buy together, then can get the shop boss to give us a discount ... think no point changing the flushing system .... sigh .... yes its Mr Tan ... can rem now liao. SPACE .... you hit the jackpot ... now left with two choices.... look out for me ba ... ... i know you hacked away the kitchen wall .... open concept ... heheehee
