I am also in the process of selecting a good sofa set. The choice for me is surely leather, but I am not an expert in discerning the various types of leather. So my main concern is being misinformed about the kind of leather and this relies a lot on the honesty of the sellers. After which, whether they deliver the correct sofa or not, is another variable.

From how vague the quotation is, we suspected more top-ups may be necessary in due course, so we'll see... Will share the more concise quote after we sit down with the ID... Also, are kerbs necessary for kitchen cabinets?

Wow, thanks for replying! My mistake for leaving those details out. As these details are not in the quote, let me take it from the floor plan and write it here: 1. Install Sink and tap for kitchen, install laundry sink and tap with piping $500 2. Construct kerb for cabinets $1100 3. Bathroom supply and install glass panel 1200mm length $400 4. Bathroom cabinet 700mm $450 5. Bathroom hanging storage with mirror door 2200mm length $480 6. Cleaning and protection works $500 7. MIT Inv System 4 supply and install $4350 8. Electric works excl light fittings $650 9. Floor to ceiling shoe cabinet @ dining area 1650mm length $1760 10. Low and hanging cabinets in kitchen with laminated finish 2200mm length $2280 11. Low and tall cabinets @ stove and oven with laminated finish 3000mm length $1450 12. Caesarstone top 3000mm and 3875mm length $2630 13. Built-in wardrobe with laminated finish 2000mm length $1680 14. 3 bedroom doors and 2 bath doors (veneer panel doors) $2750 15. Mediawall and low console 2400mm $2240 (Elec works for this $250) 16. Wardrobe for 1 bedroom with laminate 1950mm length $1450 17. Hack-off partial wall (hack off top half of wall with length 2100mm), debris removal, haulage, make good wall $1150 There was no mention on the number of electrical points and yes they are concealed. We should have a better idea when we see the flat next week, that's why this quote did not indicate the lengths. These numbers are giving me sleepless nights ...

Wow!! Amazing views without obstruction and live hockey matches too! Where's your new place at? I am guessing the trunking is for wiring to/from your db box. I think that's also the reason why they have to build a little closet to house it. Share with us what HDB says after you report that "defect".. we can all learn something from there

Hmm AlisaWu, does that mean you will have 2 compressors? Might want to check with your ID on the HDB guidelines.. One of the IDs I met, said having 2 compressors on the air-con ledge is illegal.. So I'm not sure if your contractor is certain about this, or he has a way to go around this

Thanks for sharing the aircon budget.. a few of the prospective IDs we met also recommended MIT. But may I ask for the reason why you are getting a System 4 and not a System 3+1? We are still grappling with which system to get..

Hack Or Not Hack?

My new BTO is a 4room flat and we are also thinking of hacking a wall to make space for an open kitchen. My concern on hacking that wall, is whether my floor tiles will be damaged in the process. But in my current place (old 4room), my parents hacked away the store room walls and it made the living room area look much bigger! So no regrets there.. -
I believe each flooring has their pros / cons. My BTO comes with timber-strip flooring and it will have its fair share of problems too. Thus, at this point in time, I am worried about how to maintain it on a weekly basis. Also, workmanship is an important factor to having good flooring. At the same time, workmanship is also something not within our control. So, I would say, choose what you are comfortable with, go ahead and enjoy it!
