  1. Hi Bro, I am looking for ceiling fans for my HDB unit. The older HDB type which is bigger is size. Could you let me know what are the brands you recommend? I am looking at fans with LED light. Look forward to hearing from you. PS. Couldn't PM you.
  2. I am thinking of getting one of these three Hitachi MIJ models: R-S42CMS R-SF45DMS R-D5000S Have checked out Gain City, Harvey Norman, Best Denki, Mega Discount Store and Courts (they don't seem to carry Hitachi fridges), and found that the price at HN Expo Sale is the best. Anybody could share your experience of using the above models? for SF45 and D5000S, there is a vacuum compartment. Do you really think it is a useful function?

  4. Hi Shor, Possible to share the pictures of your Schneider switches? I was told that my wiring is the non-concealed type and thus choice of switches are limited. What about yours?
  5. Hi Charis How are your hello kitty mirrors? I am thinking of getting them from TB too!
  6. Hi Quarkz, Possible to share the scope of work? Am considering DnT too but the company's quote is abt 10k higher than the next contender.
  7. Wasn't aware of the long/sort rod. Will definitely take note when I start searching for the room ceiling fan. Thanks, Songz.
  8. Today's topic: Ceiling Fans Tips from KDK's FB page. https://www.facebook.com/kdkleaderinfantechnology KDK SingaporeAugust 4How to choose a right ceiling fan Choosing a ceiling fan location Fan should be placed in the centre of the room, unless the space is too large and require 2 or more fans for better airflow. For safety reasons, we recommend to avoid installing a fan directly above a bed. ---> Er... is this so? All HDB rooms are so small so it is quite hard and strange (in terms of layout) to not install a fan in the middle of the room??? Depending the room size A large bedroom or living room would require a large ceiling fan (blade length: 56 to 60 inches) to move the air effectively. For smaller room, fan blade length between 44-56 inches will be adequate. However, the size of the fan also depends on individual needs. Mounting measurements A ceiling fan needs to be 2.3 – 2.8metres, from the floor, with the blade tips at least 0.6metres away from walls or tall furniture. If you're using more than 1 ceiling fan, do ensure to install them 3 metres away from each other (distance between the downrod). Ceiling height Room with high ceiling requires a more powerful fan to promote air circulation. Ideally, a ceiling fan should be at least 2.3 – 2.8meters from the floor. In situations when the ceiling is extremely high, extension fan down rod can be used. A general formula for calculating down rod length is to take the ceiling height less 2.3 – 2.8metres. Example, if your ceiling height is 3.65metres, after deducting 2.3metres (from the floor), the down rod required is 1metre long.
  9. Hi OceanEleven, Thanks for the post on your digital lock and metal gate. Really answered many questions that I had. Look forward to more updates! Love your metal gate, btw.
  10. Hi Seowleng, Do you know the model number of that lock? Is it the same as this? http://www.yaleasia.com/en/yale/yale-asia/News/2014/News-category/Singapore-launches-Yale-GateLock-for-metal-doors/
  11. Hi Bianzi, Your profile pic is funny! Still at pre-renovation stage so I am just asking around for prices. Was quoted $1000 for single leaf fire rated door and $300 for veneer door for bedroom (with lever lock and stopper). HTH!
  12. Hallo Rose38, thanks! So envious of your nice marble tiles! Thanks for the short feedback on Royal Fanco and Heritage. I will definitely check them out! Wish you a smooth reno journey ahead!
  13. Just went for my first appointment today! Finally felt settled down. Also a (small) sense of accomplishment because I did not have an agent. Completion Appointment on 16 Sep. I have exactly 6 weeks more to confirm my ID!!
  14. Thanks Songz. You are always so helpful! An Digital Lock's price is quite competitive as well. Got the contact from OceanEleven's t-blog (like his metal gate) and got a good price that is even better than Doctor Doors. So likely to go with An. However, An doesn't do metal gate so I gotta source for another supplier for that. In short, likely to get these from An: Veneer doors for bedrooms Fire rated main door Digital lock for gate and door
  15. Hey, OceanEleven, Exactly what I am hoping to do! Have contacted An Digital for a quote. May I know, with this gate, is there a need to use a metal bracket to box up the inner part of the lock and use remote control to open it when you are indoor?
  16. Hi Koori, Do you mind PM-ing me the price of your MaxCoil mattress? A bit scared to approach Courts salesperson somehow.
  17. Hi FirstTimeOwner, great layout you have there. And big space too. Wish you a smooth journey ahead! Hahaha, out of the 4 IDs I met, 2 suggested Option C. Main reason given is the TV can be placed in front of the longest wall in the living hall, and hence more da fang.
  18. Anybody used Doctor Doors for their service? Not the Combi Door, but the normal veneer door for room and main door and gate? Am thinking of engaging them because their price is lower than what IDs quoted.
  19. It has taken me a while to figure out the general theme that I want for my new flat. Not knowing what I really wanted, I started with elimination. Ended up I realise what I want can be described as simple, functional and "clean" look. I also came to realisation that I do not really like the wooden feel though at some stage I was really really tempted to go with the scandi style. If I have to describe my preferred style in words, I think the closest is modern contemporary, with white, black and grey as the main colours. Having said that, I do want something more. Have finally decided on doing some subtle "cat-themed" design (probably mainly black, silhouette style). One way to achieve this is by using wall stickers. Have shortlisted a few and now pasting the link here for reference: #1 This seller in Qoo10 has a wide variety of wall stickers. http://list.qoo10.sg/item/HYUNDAE-SHEET-HOT-SALE-DIY-WALL-DECOR-STICKERS/403914942?&sellerview=on #2 Also quite a commonly seen design #3 Think this is a little to cute. But KIV first
  20. Today's topic: Odd-shape living hall One of the many challenges of my reno journey is the few odd-shape areas in my unit. One of them is the living hall. Have met up with a few IDs and there were mainly three suggestions. Would like to hear from fellow renotalk friends which one you think is the most optimal and why? TIA!
  21. Answering my own question. After reading many blogs, I came to the conclusion that a door close is likely to be installed on a heavy door such as the fire rated wooden door. Therefore, my naive dream of installing on on the metal/wrought iron gate is probably not possible.
