  1. Thanks Eddie. Do you mean to say it cost $150 or PD doors costs $150 more than the regular pvc bifold ones?
  2. Any shops recommend for me to see what bi-fold doors available in the market? went online to check - there are mainly those who showcase completed ones, else the images are too small or blur. I hope to be able to see the selection of colors for frame and the acrylic plastic covers too.
  3. On budget so gotta paint myself. 3 room resale about 68sqm. Just bought so doing some minor reno that includes: - re-wiring the whole unit - 2 toilets to overlay - changing out all the existing lightings & fans & whatever hangs on the wall and ceiling - shifting DB box - remove old cornices and just replace with a simple L-box around living room area And because of all the above fixes - i just realized that when they removed all the old wiring cable boxes, lightings, cornices, the wall is kinda 'ugly' with the old paint residue, screws from the lightings.. as a whole, the wall needs some patching to be done. I did not factor in these in the quote for reno to get the guys fix these ugly spots. So now, i still want to paint but need these spots to be patched up. 1. Patch work - can this DIY? - how? what to buy? 2. Painting L-box - i heard i need to apply sealant then paint over. - what sealant to buy? any specific type or brand? (oil-based, water-based) 3. Painting walls + ceiling - do i need sealant for these walls & ceiling too? - what's the process like: -- sealant required? how many coat? how many cans for 3-room? -- Base-coat then paint color? 4. Toilet walls & pipes - do i need to buy special paints for toilet (because it's high-moiture area) to paint the ceiling? - do i need to apply sealant first then base coat? - oil or water based ealant? - the pipes i want to paint over - so need sealant? base-coat then paint? - Pipes: after colored paint, do i need to apply additional at top coat to protect it from peeling? even if i am engaging some workers to help me, i would also need to buy the right stuff for them to paint. Any kind souls out there who has DIY painting whole place before, really appreciate your advice. thanks!

    Chalkboard

i was looking around for chalkboards too... then i found the paints in those DIY shops. Small corner where you can find wood varnish cans and stuff. It's a very small tin of chalk board paints. DIY shops like those in the shopping malls. Might be pricey but it's convenient to grab and go, especially if you are looking at just painting a portion. Primer wise - best to ask the shop people. they sell it, they should be able to recommend. Ask questions on the various type of primer and the benefits - then go shop in those paint stores for cheaper alternatives...becuase those uncles in the paint shop are kinda lazy to explain. lol~
  5. wow! 7k is really expensive! well, anything in thousands scares me now actually.. I got a contractor involved - no ID - so strictly what i want. I did only a portion of the wall - about 1500mm by 2500mm (HT). that is already 3 cartons (plus excess). It's hard to just give you a price because this contractor did other stuff for me like overlay for my 2 toilets & fabricate another cabinet in the kitchen. If I look at the line item - include labour + supply 3 carton is about $900. You have to understand one thing is that i am doing the half bricks directly onto the wall. I did no fabrication of feature wall as the base, so likely i am ready to accept wires from TV hanging out. it's fine with me. this is the budget i can live with. So if your ID is going to fabricate a plain feature wall then apply the bricks, so that you can hide your wires behind, of course that will cost more. You can do the sum (roughly) - mine is 1500mm wide (height of 2500mm should be quite constant as it's full-height of old HDB flat generally). if you are looking at 7100mm, that's 5X of mine. Hope this helps

  7. Seen this a couple times at some cafes amd restaurants. Some use it for menu display on the wall. A huge black colored piece of boark, looked like either glass or a very thick piece of acrylic. Can write on them with those neon marker pens. There is one that even had magnetic properties too where markers fixed with a small piece of magnetic can be held together on the board. Anyone have seen this or can recommend where I can go/call to check for prices? Though I found it in Amazon.com, the cost is not cheap, and based on the weight, I might have to pay quite a bit for shipping fees... Gmarket doesn't sells it. It does those non magnetic onrs and mostly whiteboards or whiteboard sheets.
  8. Spotted this online http://eastcoastcreativeblog.com/2013/07/diy-faux-brick-wall-knock-it-off-diy.html I am not referring to those expensive 3d wall panels that is sold with reno packages thru IDs. These looked like sheets of brick-like panels. Can paint it and do anything to customize yourself. Anyone seen this around in singapore?
  9. I wanted to buy one of the CNY promo fridge RT63PBSL (with the water dispenser), tried to get reviews online and found minimal else none. so i started looking into other official samsung website and saw that the same models are marketed under different models. Puzzled, did a comparison on features, technology used, all the same. only key difference is the reported capacity. http://www.samsung.com/sg/consumer/home-appliances/refrigerator/top-freezer/RT63PBSL1/XSS-spec http://www.samsung.com/my/consumer/home-appliances/refrigerator/top-freezer/RT63NBSL1/XME-spec http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/home-appliances/refrigerator/top-freezer/RT63PBSL1/XSA-spec Samsung Fridge Models across AU, SG, and MY 3 exact same designs, same size (Width 772mm/Depth 767mm/Height 1795mm), same features and technology, but all reported different capacity. 1. AU: SR534EDSL - Capacity 534L/Freezer 158L/ Refrigerator 376L 2. SG: RT63PBSL - Capacity 487L/Freezer 131L/ Rfrigerator 356L 3. MY: RT63NBSL - Capacity 492L/Freezer 132L Refrigerator 350L I would appreciate feedback/reviews, in general of people who uses or have used Samsung fridges. What's your take on it's quality, reliability?
  10. Hi Angmoh... Any review on your samsung fridge?
  11. Hi, i know this thread has been cold for more than one year.... But i am curious to know if anyone bought samsung fridge, preferably top freezer kind, has had any issue? Well, i was sucked into this CNY promo samsung is running now, giving $688 vouchers if u buy selected fridges or washing machines. So i didnt do research and purchased a Samsung fridge RT63pbsl. Now that i got back home, started surfing for reviews, i saw quite a fair bit of terrible reviews. Mostly overseas like in the US. Plus they had lawsuit against them. Searched high and low for reviews on this specific model i bought... None. Very worried now.... Hope some one can offer some insights.
  12. Appreciate advice on some estimation of cost. For my resale 3room HDB unit. On tight budget, so the works required are purely to fix and replace what is not working or old or do not exist. Not expecting design elements or efforts involved. Kitchen (common) Toilet 1) Supply and overlay of wall/floor tiles of toilet 2) Fitting of seating toilet bowl (currently it's the original squat type) 3) Make good of the existing pipes/fittings 4) Replace existing wash basin (located just outside the toilet) with new one (optional: wash basin with cabinet) 5) Replace bi-fold toilet door 6) Replace heater 7) remove and install new toilet accessories (toilet paper holder, tap, aluminium holder for toiletries...etc) Master bedroom Toilet 1) Hack existing wall/floor tiles of room toilet, and supply and lay new tiles 2) Replacement of toilet bowl 3) Make good of the existing pipes/fittings 4) Replace existing wash basin with new one (optional: wash basin with cabinet) 5) Replace bi-fold toilet door 6) Replace heater 7) Replace remove and install new toilet accessories (as above mentioned for common toilet) Kitchen 1) Install a 2ft wide full height cabinet (for fitting of microwave and oven) 2) Install a 2.5ft or 3ft table (bottom) cabinet (not hacking existing kitchen cabinets. this is just add-on to the other side opposite) 3) install solid surface table top for above mentioned 2.5ft or 3ft cabinet. 3) Supply and overlay of floor tiles Living Room/Kitchen 1) Currently there is a wooden partition (no door) between the living room and kitchen. - To extend the wooden partition on the left side by estimated 2ft. - To remove the wooden cabinet on the right side and replace with a wooden partition - To build a sliding door (whichever option is cheaper: wood or glass) 2) Want to save cost and not build a feature wall for TV. Instead, just tiling a full wall height area with cultured tiles or craftstones, with half brick tiles. 3) Fabricate a suspended TV console 4) mount TV rack to wall Misc works 1) Removal of some existing lighting/electrical points and relocating with new ones 2) Removal of cornices in the living room and make good of the perimeters 3) Some plastering of walls and ceilings required (mostly in kitchen and toilets) 4) TV/SCV points in 2 bedrooms 5) Relocation of TV/SCV points in living room thanks!
  13. Hi Jason Can you pm me? Need quote for 3room resale. Thanks!

  15. web references: 1. http://brickit.com/products/brick-product-details/51ddx 2. http://www.slimbrick.co.uk/product/terracotta_stock_flat_brick_tile/ i am working on a pretty tight budget. have absolutely no monies for ID. I can make references to what i see on the web for ideas on how to do up my resale 3-room flat. Can't afford to fabricate a feature wall, yet i really hope to get a section of the wall to mount my tv in the living room with some sort like a feature wall kind of concept. I am okay not to hide away a couple strands of wires. that's my compromise for not having a custom feature wall. I looked at brick walls and love the old skool industrial, warm feel. rather than go for those adhesive flat wallpaper, i wanted something more 3D. I stumbled upon the 2 URLs and found my solution: thin or slim bricks. Searched high and low online for a company in Singapore that carries this, but couldn't find. I realized quite a number of F&B establishments uses this kind of slim bricks walls. Anyone here know where of any companies that carry slim/thin bricks? thanks!
