Hi, I need advice for my renovations. Trying to cut down my renovation costs. Would really appreciate suggestions. I have just bought a 4 room resale flat and will be doing my renovations soon. I am thinking of relocating my master-room door for better ventilation and wardrobe space as layout is really bad. This would involve hacking one of the walls and may damage the existing same homogeneous beige floor which link to the living room. The contractor has advised me to change the master-room flooring (about 130 sq ft area) and quoted me $1170 for vinyl floor (per sq ft $6.50 but I have to pay more as there is a minimum requirement of 180 area sq ft for installation). In other words, it is as much as $9 psf if I were to do such a small area. Can anyone else advise whether there are any cheaper alternatives ? What else can be done to the small damaged floor area besides changing the whole floor ? Secondly, my flat is about 5 years old, I am thinking of overlaying tiles on existing bathroom walls/floors as the pipes are already hidden. This would save time and cost. Is it wise ? Hope to hear from some of you. Thank you.
