Pay Full For A Resale Flat
popcorn replied to roytan30's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
Looks like you have a substantial amount in your CPF if you can make a full payment. If I were you, I'll put all the numbers into an excel sheet and see by the time I reach 60, what is the amount I have in my CPF. Few scenarios, you can work out, 1. Wipe out CPF, 2. Take a 10yr, 20yr or 30yr loan, 3. Invest CPF, 4. Let CPF earn interest. There will definitely be uncertainties, but the end amount should be able to give you a better understanding before you make a decision. -
Hi Folks! Haven't follow up on this post for a long time already... Things been safe and good so far. Did manage to get some neighbors (since it's a corridor unit) to lookout for one another. My immediate neighbor just install a cctv recently so my unit got "free" coverage also. =) Yup, good to get insurance on top of the fire one which covers theft also. But I think "force entry" need to be proven for claims. So if a thief knows how to pick locks, does that mean it's not a force entry?! Best is not to have valuables in the house. Thanks again!

Can change yourself, 2 in - 2 out, IIRC. $30 for a new RCB.

Possible To Find A Flat With Low Cov?

I think the price for this floor area, it's worth it. Try to negotiate for the COV. BTW, what block is that? -
Normal Washing Machine Or The Front Load Washer Cum Dryer
popcorn replied to GraCieGaL's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Front load generally uses less water and more time than top load. This is a fact and there are alot of information about this in the internet. Yang Guo: I think the amount of water needed for a front load is referring to the total amount of water. I tried collecting the used water from my front loader to verify. For top load, you can see the actual amount of water. When I went to shop for a WM, I notice some salespeople don't know their facts... one told me the washing load (for front load is generally smaller) includes the water! This is wrong, 1L of water is 1Kg, that means after filling in the water in the wm, I can't wash laundry anymore! =| If you are concern about bending down to put in the laundry (esp for pregnant ladies and old people), you may consider those front load drum action but you load from the top of the machine. Brant and Thompson got such models. They are much slimmer than the usual front load and top load. Hope this helps. -

Hi Folks, got something to share... Came home yesterday afternoon and found that my front gate has been unlock; the padlock was till intact but seem to be tampered with and main door was still lock. I'm using an abloy padlock, sometimes when it is tampered with, there will be difficulty in opening it later. This is not the first time! I made a report already, and the police is following up on this matter. Just posting this so that everyone will be aware of such things.

Where To Buy Electronics Dehumidifier?
popcorn replied to liuhao's topic in Electronics & Electricals
There is another alternative to prevent mould. Mould tends to grow in a environment that is damp and the air is still. Using a dehumidifier takes dampness our of the equation, you can try to introduce some air circulation also. My wardrobe also had this problem before I moved in, cos the windows were close all the time. So what I did from then was to always leave the window slightly open to improve the air circulation. Once in a while, I leave the cabinate doors in the kitchen and wardrobe open to let the air circulate. So far so good, no more recurrence. -
Comments On Samsung Front Load Washer Wf-j1061
popcorn replied to ckoonyin's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Using the 6.5kg version, WF-B1061. So far so good. The 1000RPM spin is really useful especially during this wet season. Indoor drying needs about 2 days for thick clothes like jeans. -
Are you referring the Sharp Healsio? There was a promotion few months back at Best Denki, $999 I think. Prices went back to normal ($1499?) after a week.

Thanks very much! Mine doesn't look like that though, it has a dial (20cent coin size) and the test button is really small (5mm dia). But I guess the both serve the same purpose; call electrician from yellow pages, quoted $65 for transport cost already. =(

Hi Folks The push test button on my circuit breaker doesn't seem to be working. The button feels stuck when depress full, i.e. no spring or click feel. And nothing happens when depress. The flip switches is working, can trip when overloaded. Anyone knows if it is possible just to repair or change the faulty part? And what's the cost involved? Thanks!
