  1. Yes, If it is true then it really is very silly to design lights around the basketball court to mot light up the court at night. Defeats the purpose of having the lights in the first place. Can someone post a pic for all to see and discuss?
  2. To all staying in Jalan Membina, News from HDB: Implementation of Free Parking Scheme on Sundays and Public Holidays (FPS) at Blk 26 Jalan Membina http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10296p.nsf/Pr...34?OpenDocument Hope the link works
  3. Okay, thanks for the tip. Linggie and I were discusing about it earlier and the heat from the fridge crossed my mind. But it would really save us having to do up a tall cabinet to hide the gas pipes then.
  4. I only saw this topic upon looking back at the thread, I bought a Wii for US$249, it comes with a Wiimote, Nunchuck and Wii Sports. You can get Wii Play (Teaches you the basics of Wii Controls) and it comes with a Wiimote controller for US$49.99 and an extra nunchuck for US19.99, totalling up to ~US$320 for the equivalent set you can get in Singapore for about S$659 at challenger. The excellent exchange rate will make it about ~S$450 (or lesser) but the Wii is kinda hard to get in US, perpetually sold out at the stores and people are ripping us off on eBay. My friends didn't manage to buy the Wii in the end, sold out when they got there if not I can get them to sell to any interested parties.
  5. Okay I read it, and you'll get one if you really fancy it. The little things I can do to make you happier I posted on your T-blog with respect to the heat dissipated from the fridge having any effect on the piping behind the fridge, any thoughts on that?
  6. Gas pipes laid... The piping behind the fridge area, will it be affect by the heat dissipated from a fridge being positioned in front of it?
  7. Sounds like a plan, but writing in may also have a negative effect of people all finding out the poor state the houses are in and maybe cause the valuation to drop (just a speculation here). As for the slight refund, I don't think it will happen, at most HDB will only do the repair and damages for us and thats the most I guess.
  8. Someone should bring this problem up in the forum section of the Straits Times you know, and await for a response from HDB. Seeing that we all paid so much for the house (some a quarter of a milion onwards), especially since some of us are so young and making it our first home, how can the government do allow such slipshod quality of work in our homes. Highlighting the increase in prices for the people who balloted for the place and getting such a inferior house with so many defects. Not justified at all. The quality of work does not justify the price that we're paying, makes you worry about the integrity of the house, and whether it will last the 99 years the government is 'allowing' us to lease the place until. Even thought this is not going to be a problem for most of us (to live 99 years there) Allocating the contract of work to the lowest bidder also has to come with some common sense, whether the quality of work by the contractor is compromised by the lower bid or not, not just driven by the profit margins.
  9. So proud of my baby for undertaking the renovations job by herself!! Love ya
  10. You should also try and look out for water seepage as well if you happen to go down to your place after rain. Seems to be happening to a few of us. You should still be able to submit the defects list to Blk 27B right? they should still be around and as long as you haven't start your renovations, you should be fine.
  11. I just went there with my wife (Linggie) and we spoke to some of the assistants there and they said that they may not necessarily be the cheaper option as their rent is quite expensive as well, the lady said she knew the Chan Huat owner as well.
  12. Thanks for the quick reply. I'm currently based overseas for work now so we can delay our keys collection till the end of the year. (Got a letter from the Govt. to support it - Heehee, can grow my CPF for a while more) So our concern now is whether we'll need to re-apply the HLE and if we so happen to bust the income ceiling. Sigh, I'll get my girl to enquire with HDB and let you guys know the result.
  13. Hi guys, I've got a question to ask. I've already signed the Lease of Agreement, thus securing the flat that I got. But I'm not going to collect my keys till some time later like Jun - Dec 2008. Will I have to re-apply for the HLE? What if my income limit exceeds 8k by then(hypothetically speaking)? Will I no longer be able to get a HDB loan and have to take up a bank loan instead? Thanks in advance
  14. Hey, what has my playing soccer got to do with playing instruments. Can I offer my mediocre skills on the recorder? (the instrument everyone played while in primary school) Keke
  15. Hi all, Finally got my internet working and can catch up on the happenings on this thread. Reading back on the posts and seeing the development of the flats makes me so excited. I used to be able to see the flat everyday on my way to work and back home. But now that I'm stuck in Perth for about a year, there is really nothing I can do but hope you guys post more pictures of the flats for me to look at. Thanks in advance
