Guess you shouldn't drill so late at night. What if your neighbour's job is shift base and much attention is needed at work so a good sleep is important. Guess living in HDB requires lots of consideration as there are sooo many of us sharing the single plot of land. So there's a lot of give and take. I too have to tolerate Indian incense smell in the evening and i read up b4 that incense has cancer causing agents and i'm very sensitive to bad smell. So just close my windows whenever i detect the smell lor.. Cos she has the right to practice her religious practices at home too.

DOn't close one eye. We paid for their service and we deserve good workmanship. All outstanding or items requiring their attention, MUST let them know. It'll be an eyesore seeing the defect everyday. But of course there are dome minor ones u really have to close 1 eye lar.. must judge lor. All the best for your reno.

butterflykisses & fcp I gave a date and told my ID that's the last day he has to handover. I made an outstanding checklist too. And yes, finally it has been handover.. Gosh.. What upset me was i told my ID why i need to hand in on time and yet this happened. FCp, how's yrs so far?

js21, think u should delay your delivery. I would. It's too risky cos your electrical appliances may hinder their reno work which may result in them accidentally causing mishap to your appliances. That's what i feel. HTH

i've been holding on to a stack of cash for sooo long cos handover should have happened long ago. I thought holding on to payments help but apparently not helping much. Just gave my ID a date to handover. I had been very nice towards my ID but upset with the amount of time he used to have my place done. Maybe being too nice is not a good idea.

anyone having this problem? My home is done by EI and i was told it will be handover by last week (before that my ID told me the week b4 and it was extended yet again) but there are minor rectification works here and there but it's been nearly 3 weeks but still not much done. In fact the whole week nothing's been done. My remaining work can be finished in a day. Till now I dunno when's my handover........ !!

i use a door wedge. cheap. Only $0.60 and i have a choice of opening my door to certain angles. !!

thanks zirkh, i'm using storage heater cos i don't like the idea of a very flammable item at home. (i'm super paranoid after watching Final Destination) Hahaha!! JS21, not sure if you already have gotten the gas heater but just wanna share that for storage heater problem u encountered, it could be more of a case whereby the storage tank is not big enough. Mine's 30l though only 2 of us staying now. We are afraid of increase in head count yrs after. The other day my hubby used, it took 10 min to heat up. And he took a long shower while i was using hot water for cleaning of toilet. Quite ok. He had 100% hot water. The next day day (after 20 hours) he went back to clean up the house, & then took a shower, the water was still hot though it had been switched off so long ago. i was quite impressed leh.. but dunno if it's because it's still new lar.. Haha!

evad, can't help with lock cos i'm still looking for one. For blinds, i'm using sunrain. Thomas from sunrain did my parents apartment as well. JS21, it's true their heater it's less taxing on bill cos gas is much cheaper than electrcity. Now with soaring oil prices, electricity tarif increasing is definitely no surprise. Instant heaters and storage tanks use electrcity. Citygas heaters and storage tanks need about 10-15min to heat up. But citygas, u really boil the water. u have to ignite and you can smell gas. That's unnerving for me.

i questioned my ID on the waterproofing issue, he said deepening the grout doesn't affect water proofing as the waterproofing membrane is below the tiles. He told me to use a '-' screw driver and a hammer to knock off the grout very very carefully if not there'll be chipping of tiles. Then use fingers (note fingers *faint*) to lay the white cement. My hubby and i have agreed to just lay cement on it w/o removing grout. I believe touching up is at most 1/2 yr once. Even if cement comes off, it's only a few grouts at most. Then just touch up should be quite fast. U may wanna consider this? Then the dream of a clean looking toilet will be within reach. Hahaha!! BTW, sea horse @ bukit batok west mall is having sales. For those who need temporay mattress to sleep on till yr wedding or spare mattress for guests, can go buy. 50% off so one is only about $48. It's those foldable ones. Note the sale is not avail at Tiong bahru plaza though.

Mine are not even. Some lines are thick which angers me everytime i wash the toilet. My ID said the same as yr contractor. He said not many contractors are willing to do as it's quite a pain to knock off the black lines and fill it with white cement. Anyone who has contractors mind enquiring for us the price? If not it'll be my project during my block leave.. Sob..

thanks armani. Yesterday tried the heater.. didn't know how to work.. So bathed in cold water, only to have hubby to realise much later that the water's not boiled yet.. I think i too kan cheong to have my shower that i didn't wait. hahaha!! hey, can i check if anyone has any contacts for contractor to remove the grout (done by HDB) in toilet and replace with white cement? The black lines make my toilet look dirty.

armani, my contractor seemed to have dumped my instruction manual for my ariston storage heater. Do u still have? I have completely no idea how to use.. or to make it easier, are u able to tell me what over here. I only see a knob and a light inidcator so shouldn't be too chim right? !!

From the way u guys mention abt shopping in BKK, I hope my bombshelter has enough space for me to plce my loots from there.. Haha! BTW.. Anyone with my problem? Reno 95% done but work just halt because of high volume in projects? I'm left just with a little bit more to go.
