Should I Take Id/contractor Or Source Out On My Own
Sheridan replied to linsullen's topic in Renovation Packages
I totally agree, better safe then sorry, you are already saving a part of the cost, the additional savings is not worth the potential risk if any. And I believe they won't really charge if required, so its yeah, better safe then sorry.- 25 replies

Inovar Laminate Flooring Or Evorich Herf
Sheridan replied to chiqing's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Yes, vinyl flooring is a trend due to its cost and waterproofing element, you get the best of both worlds for a very affordable price. Why follow everyone and go for the old and cold marble etc when you can have a unique and beneficial waterproof laminate (not vinyl). -
Well Battleangel, I'm not sure by what you mean defunct, however a few toilet jobs since 2011 never had any problems with it, in fact there were 3 customers who came back and insisted on the same product for their new home. We also supply to 2 renowned ID Firms, where one of the is an International ID.

Full Renovationon Condo Toilet
Sheridan replied to jsimgh's topic in Landed & Condo Private Properties Renovation Discussion
I understand how that feels, it so much fun and awesome to have something different, but it will just die off very soon But good thing is, whenever you have visitors, they will always be WOWed. Great job on the saving and seriously, that is one very beautiful job!! Congrats. If you don't mind, maybe I could use it to share with some of my customer? I'm just a laminate flooring supplier, but occasionally, we do install laminate flooring in toilets. So this layout could be an inspiration for them to design. If you don't mind, I'll direct my customer to this page :-) Cheers, Sheridan -
Home Vista Review?

Good job Bahamut! This might be an off case, but it should serve as a reminder to all not to take things for granted. However in your case, its obvious that Adrian was to be blamed. Anyway, glad that everything worked out fine, and hope its smooth sailing from here on out. Cheers, Sheridan -

Hi guys, I'm a supplier for laminate, vinyl and decking (outdoor) flooring. As what battleangel said, vinyls on the market are usually equipped with locking system already. But to shed a little more light on this, if the locking is good, there won't be gaps etc, unless its designed to do so. As for the glue down version of vinyl, I won't say its primitive, its just that the cost to manufacture these vinyl are cheaper compared to locking types, and usually its also thinner, cost aside, always go for those with locking. If budget is an issue, you could always consider laminate, however the main concern here is water damage. Fret not, we do offer waterproof laminate (not vinyl). Our product offering ranges from the double laminate technology all the way to waterproof laminate (not vinyl). If you have any queries or doubts, please feel free to contact me, its feedback and comments that enable us to learn more and give better and more constructive feedbacks. Cheers, Sheridan

Better call and ask your contractor/ID to rectify this before it gets even larger. Cheers, Sheridan

Inovar Laminate Flooring Or Evorich Herf
Sheridan replied to chiqing's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Ashley, to put your confusion to rest, both has their advantages and disadvantages, it depends on where do you plan to have it install. That being said, a little history about vinyl, it was created for the commercial market (meant to be stepped on with shoes and not feet, and definitely not meant for you to sit or lie on it.) However, througout the years, technology has improved, but at the same time, certain companies are taking advantage of this and cut cost, hence the toxic rumors started flowing. How true? I have no idea, like I said, its rumor and have yet to stumbled on a real incident. If waterproofing and wooden flooring is what you seek, you could try out our waterproof laminate (not vinyl). But bear in mind, good things are not cheap, cheap things might be not good. Lol Cheers and have a nice day all, Sheridan -
Hi Apple, I'm a supplier of laminate flooring, and depending on what flooring solutions you need, price might differ. Just a basic idea: Parquet - Increase value, best feel, but water is troublesome Laminate - Good feel, water could be trouble unless you opt for our waterproof laminate (not vinyl) Vinyl - Tough, silent, waterproof Tile - Easy to maintain, waterproof, but its cold Cheers and have a nice day, Sheridan

Laminate Flooring Transition Strips
Sheridan replied to LindaLim's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Hi Linda, Have you solved your problems yet? If not you could try PM me. I know this won't be a sales, but I would hate to see your place feeling incomplete simply due to just a small thing. -
Well, everyone has been saying there are benefits on wood flooring compared to tiles, mainly on the cold part. But tiles on the other hand is easier to maintain But to each their own and depends on their budget, I'm a supplier of laminate and vinyl flooring, we also carry the latest waterproof laminate (not vinyl) flooring.

Are you interested in vinyl or waterproof laminate? We are the locally appointed distributor and goods are from Floor Depot Malaysia. And if you would like to, I could intro a reliable ID if needed. Cheers and have a nice day, Sheridan

I'm a laminate & vinyl flooring supplier, and I guess the vinyl quoted seems to be on the high price, that price seems more like laminate or Engineered Hardwood price. But I can't say for sure as I'm not sure how big your area is. Just my 2 cents.

Should I Take Id/contractor Or Source Out On My Own
Sheridan replied to linsullen's topic in Renovation Packages
It is usually recommended to engage ID for their professional services, not only they will be in-charge of the coordination (you don't have to take frequent leaves) and ultimately be your one point warranty handler. Imagine 3 different things need to be touch-up etc, you will need to engage 3 different parties and coordinate on a suitable time for them and you, why no just engage ID and they will handle everything for you? Yes it is definitely cheaper, you might save 20%+- of cost, but usually this will increase your headache later as well. By the way, I'm not an ID, just a laminate flooring supplier, I have been engaged by many homeowners, I will usually recommend them to engage ID, as they will carefully plan the layout and maximize your space, at a higher cost. But of course, most of the time, they still come back directly to me.- 25 replies

Inovar Laminate Flooring Or Evorich Herf
Sheridan replied to chiqing's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Actually there is WATERPROOF LAMINATE, and not vinyl, but don't expect to pay the usual laminate price for it. If budget is an issue and you can barely afford to install laminate flooring, my advice is don't, though I'm selling laminate flooring, I will still advice against it. I dislike selling lower tier laminate, hence my product are not a little expensive, but a lot more. This includes the waterproof laminate, not vinyl. If budget is an issue, go for Vinyl (i don't sell), its durable and easy to maintain, not to mention cheap. But if you've ever walked on vinyl, laminate, and parquet, you will definitely love parquet, followed by laminate and hate vinyl. Also, vinyl is usually used in commercial areas where we don't walk bare-feet, so I'm not sure whats the implication will be. However, rumors are just rumors, I don't think installing vinyl will bring much of a problem to residential areas. Cheers, Sheridan -
Let me have a say at your 4 points: Tiles - Easiest to maintain and best in-terms of lasting you a lifetime Parquet - Excellent!! As you mentioned, difficult/troublesome Laminate - A cheaper alternative to above, lots of problems surfacing in recent years. Vinyl - Cheapest and best alternative, cost and care wise. If I can afford, Parquet is definitely the way to go, if budget is in mind, vinyl is the best choice, but try to look for a smoother surface, this is my preference However, just to share a little info with you, laminate has been in the market for more then 10 years, the question here really is, why only in recent years laminate start to have all sorts of problem? IMHO, it will be price, too many players are coming in and leading into a price war, everyone is trying to push cost down to make more profit, and with a lower cost, I guess you know what that means. I do sell laminate, our lineup are solution centric and most homeowners won't consider us due to our higher price, I don't blame them, as most of the time I will redirect them to purchase Vinyl (I don't sell) for their budget, using the same budget, they will only get the lower tier laminate goods, hence stinking the laminate name even further. One of our series is WATERPROOF laminate, where we can even install it in a toilet Hope I was able to share some info with you. And if I were to recommend you, go for Vinyl, its cheap, easy to handle, durable and w/o a hint of wood in it, water and termite attack will never happen.

I'll come clean, after checking again here, I can say most laminate flooring are indeed water-resistant, usually homeowners will protect it nicely initially, after sometime, they tend to get lazy and that is where most of the problems come in. However, we must also expect some form of defect from the supplier, we accept it as nobody will know how the expansion will happen as different batch of supply tend to have a slight variation, couple that with different situation at your home (humidity/temperature/placement/usage), we will usually perform a follow-up. We do offer WATERPROOF LAMINATE FLOOR BOARD, however I won't really promote it here, just would like to educate netizens that it is available, however don't expect to pay the standard laminate price, We specialize in selling solution centric flooring, as like you, we treat flooring seriously, its an investment, not something you would change every 2-3 years. I would rather have fewer sales, if that means I could have more happy customers and more time to follow-through

Usually water is the main agenda, on this most people head for Vinyl, but there is a company supplying waterproof laminate, they literally dip their flooring into a water tank, no bulging no swelling no nothing! But the only problem is the cost, kinda pricey but am on the fence, pay more get better quality and warranty, or pay less and settle for Vinyl (some said toxic after some period of time, no idea true or not)?

After reading the whole lot between the Sengs, all I can say is this world works both way, its not always A cheats B, we are living in a new world where B can cheat A as well. Sometimes its just base on luck, who you trust and how much you trust. Else, it'll just be pure business, no emotion no personal touch etc.

4Room Bto (Without Tile And Door) - Is The Quotation Reasonable?
Sheridan replied to shockwave's topic in Renovation Packages
Hi, could you PM me as well. Thanks -
Wow, thats some bad laminate you got there. For price wise, I would still suggest laminate, if you could afford it, go solid wood. There have always been talks about vinyl, saying its releases chemical etc since its rubber, and the cold transfer rate. Meaning absorbent/transfer of cold. I will reserve this to just a point to ponder, as I've never encountered an actual case nor study on this. Hence rumours should remain as rumours, but then again, rumours won't start w/o a reason, from what I can tell it could be from below 2 reasons: 1) Vinyl ultimately is plastic, hence there is some truth behind the chemical part, not proven it is, neither proven its not. 2) Laminate is losing out to Vinyl, hence the hacking of Vinyl to turn sales back into Laminate.

Why Are Consumers So Wary Of Ids And Contractors
Sheridan replied to shorty's topic in Renovation Packages
From the few things that I've been able to read through and understand is there are 3 issues at hand when getting your place renovated: 1) Cost 2) Value 3) Time 1) We all have a budget, we all want to do every things for the price of 3-star things and expect a 5-star service (because we are paying) and 5-star quality. This is very unrealistic, we should instead be a little more proactive, try to know the cost of the things that we want to do. You might have surveyed around and know of 3 person who renovated their kitchen, for example costing $30,000 / $50,000 / $60,000. So naturally we assumed we should pay around $30,000 for our kitchen, but the thing is, is the $30,000 kitchen the same size as yours? Is the things done less then what your has? Their's 2 cabinet but yours is 4 etc, u get my drift. When you squeeze them, they will of course provide inferior goods, and when you still squeeze more, they would just want to finish the job ASAP, hence all rush job etc. That's why we should know the price, survey some shops spend a little more time (weekends) to go window shopping so we know that we aren't charge an exorbitant price, and know that they aren't giving us inferior goods, unless they justify it. 2) This is more like a risk to me, I rather pay more (I'm not rich) and get a better workmanship in the end. You are investing, these are not the things you will redo every year, so quality and assurance must be there, You pay peanut don't expect them to be there when things go wrong. You already know that they will earn a sum from you, make it worthy, but at the same time, like #1, know the price and don't get cheated, make sure its worthy. 3) Another side cost to us, we sometime have to take leave to solve problem, that one day leave will eat into us, consider it as you are wasting one day worth of pay, and many times when there are problems, one day leave is not enough. Hence having a good #2, could also saves you this. You are also paying for the service remember. Another thing about time is the renovation time required, I won't really rush them, instead I will ensure they have time to do a proper job, if that means a little more inconvenience to me now, I'm ok with it, better now then later, later will take more time usually. Ultimately, there are those who purely just want to con you, if you met with them, all I can say is bad luck, and share them out to help a brother about. If you meet with the usual or good ones, I would like to spend some of my lunch time to visit them at my home and buy some food for them just to build repo and taking the chance to check up on the progress. Happy workers lead to better output.
