  1. I'm not expert. Just posted those I think are worth posting. Haha... Hi. PM-ed.
  2. Clock itself is S$14.50. Shipping fees wise....I bought with a lot of other things like the side tables, bedsheets, etc...I didn't bother to calculate individual shipping for each item since it's all mine for use, not reselling them so dun need to do costing. LOL. I used sea freight with Peeka and it is based on the package size in cubic centimetre. For your reference, cubic centimetre = (Length x height x breath).
  3. Dehub mop or misc holder. Looks very plasticky. Not sure if it really holds up as good as they advertise. Tried one, will update if it falls, or not. LOL....After locking it I did try to pull it off and it was quite firmly stuck on my tile wall, just not sure how it will hold up over time and once water hits the wall. Washing powder container, fits about 3KG of washing powder. Misc glass containers with stainless steel & acrylic lids. These came in a box so heavily protected with styrofoam that i was puzzled when I just opened the box....All I saw were white styrofoam.....
  4. More zabalang stuff purchased on Taobao...see the shopping addict in me? Just that I'm switching from buying clothing to household stuff now...LOL I'm using Peeka as I'm getting smaller stuff... I guess all those experts out there would have some other forwarder to go to who are much much cheaper. These were ordered around earlier May actually and came on a ship 22 May. They reached SG yesterday afternoon (Peeka will SMS you when it arrives in SG's warehouse in Eunos) and the parcels were delivered to my place around 10pm same day. This item gave me a mini heart attack. Saw this rust looking stain on it...I was thinking 'Oh No! Need to play email ping-pong with Peeka already!' Just 死马当活马医, tried to use a bit of dish-cleaning detergent...and it washed right off, easy! Must be some dirt stain and not that this thing is rusty.... So here it is on my kitchen counter : The very cute stainless steel container I got for my salt. Looks good, but a bit small. 500g salt package cannot fit all leh....think has about capacity of 300g only as I am left with slightly less than half a pack of salt. Very mini dustbin I got, just 7L...haven't removed the plastic cover on the lid. Came protected with styrofoam in box and a big 'fragile' word on the carton. Arrived with no dents, no scratches. The rubbish chute for my place is outside my unit. Just wanted something small to contain a single day's rubbish for throwing. Lid or no lid, leftover food scraps left overnight smells VERY BAD by the next day....in my open concept kitchen, I can smell it from my living room. I don't think I have dog's nose leh...smellls really Ewww.... I try to throw the rubbish on the same night or next morning.
  5. I think it depends on the width of the compartment. My neighbourhood shop purchased wardrobe has the same type of mirror. Slide out, then it turns 90 degrees to face you.
  6. Are you hacking any walls in the kitchen? I am assuming your gas pipes are there. For my place, my contractor and citygas customer service both told me better to discontinue gas supply in kitchen if doing hacking of walls, just in case of accidental damages to the pipe and then gas leaks ~ *touch wood*. If your contractor is very sure, then maybe really no need.... Need to call City Gas, and they charge $60 for stopping the gas supply temporarily. Billing shows up in your SP bill.
  7. It has a high pitched whining sound. Not sure if it scares hardcore burglars, but enough to scare me....haha.... My sister's house lock didn't like me once when I opened the door too fast from inside her place. Good news is -The alarm started shrilling....Bad news is - none of her neighbours cared enough to come out look. LOL....
  8. Yah....sounds like for some 'bed sports'. Hahah...I saw this description frequently in the TB listings.
  9. More stuff~ Remote control dust covers....so cute~ http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=19190803446 Straw storage box. Packs flat, there is hard cardboard to fit at the bottom after opening it up. fits nicely in wardrobe and cheerful color. Don't get it if you mind straw smell though. http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=14672242355 Bedsheet ~ http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=14250145328 I dunno how to convert the chinese fabric metric system to Singapore's frequently used threadcount.... All I can say is this Tencel fabric is very soft and silky, slippery and cool to the touch. It's softer than even the 700TC Akemi cotton sateen bedsheets I bought in SG. Important notes : remember to select the '床笠‘ style ! The regular sheets are flat sheet - aka. one big piece of cloth. Tencel bedsheet translates as '天丝四件套‘ or '天丝床上用品‘ A lot more sellers selling Tencel bedsheets, can just do a search too instead of the seller I picked. The elastic is only in the 4 corners though, so this thing still fit a bit loosely on my super single bed. I just tucked the excess fabric under the matteress. Haha...
  10. The zabalang other stuff that were in my previous TB loot. Finally have time to sit down to type about them : Memory foam floor mats. Soft and really 'springs back' : Good~cushy. My mom's comment was : why buy so 'high-class' floor mat? >.< http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=17136710247 Wooden rice container. Very cute size coz it's for 5 kg rice only. I dunno if true to volume coz procrastinator me have not bought rice yet. Updates : Finally got rice yesterday. It's just me, and I'm not really fond of carbo....so no idea how long to go through 5kg of rice. LOL. Report = the container is capable of holding 5kg rice. There is space for a bit more actually. I can still fit the rice measuring cup inside the holder. Latest update -> updated with picture of container with rice in. Woody smell, smooth wood and looks quite 'solid'. http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a220o.1000855.0.0.N7nRCq&id=37060132614&rn=&acm=03054.1003.1.67386&uuid=k98v7kB3&abtest=_AB-LR32-PV32_503&scm=1003.1.03054.ITEM_37060132614_67386&pos=3 I actually ordered the design below and the seller sent wrongly. Peeka did check and ask and I decided to accept the design sent to me as it looked like less grooves on the cover and probably means less dirt accum? I dunno...anyways, too late to regret. Wall clock : Is good~ really silent clock, keeps time accurately so far. Mom's comment : 'why so big numbers?' My reply : 'Coz I half blind.... -__-' http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=10764163193
  11. Looks ok to me leh....color quite uniform. I dunno what kind of brush was used, but I didn't even see brush strokes on mine. Not sure what you mean by 'spoil'. Haha...you mean patchy color? Mine used 'Sail White'. All doors looked nicely done leh. Can also choose to apply a layer of protective something (I'm not sure what it is named) over the door instead of paint. My contractor said can retain the original wooden colors if I wanted, but the trend now is to paint the doors. Haha.....I didn't see any brush strokes on mine. Maybe coz mine was a lighter color so it wasn't obvious. The only brushstrokes were because I installed a new maindoor digital lock and have a couple of places to touch up....me do it vs the painter do it got difference. Agree, it's a nice protective layer on the door.
  12. For my place, the shower and WC were installed first too. The guy in charge of plumbing took care of those at one go. However, the shower was not electrically done up until later stage, was close to completion already....so if the workers used it, it's as good as cold tap water. Dun think they used the shower. And ya, the people working did use the common WC once it was up. I know coz my WC flush buttons are white and there are black fingerprints on them. LOL. They didn't touch the MBR's though. Not sure if it's the same case with yours with regards to the shower....
  13. haha....you can pay off the existing debts (even before you get the statement). Then you free up the credit for more further swiping! That's what I did, coz i only wanted to use a particular card for the cashback.
  14. Ya~the living is big and I dunno wat else to put there. Haha...I didn't like the idea of a dining table smack in front of the front door area, but that was the main suggestion from the IDs I talked to during the initial stage when I was still sourcing ID/contractors. The wires all over the place, no energy to look into them yet. Haha...will see first since my mio tv modem is temporary. So wires likely to reduce later...I only took up 6 mths coz there is a promotion at singtel. Pay for mioTV 6mths and get 6mths broadband internet free....
  15. My contractor used Nippon Bodelac 9000 for all my wooden doors. Slightly glossy kind of paint. Hope that helps.
  16. Ya, I think you can expect higher prices if it's not their 'preferred' partner. Most likely because they do not have the 'relationship' with that brand. I think they should be able to source if you insist on a certain brand. I think chances are, no single ID will be able to have preferred rates across all the brands in SG....but I'm not sure. Maybe the renovation industry is small enough that everyone knows everyone? I was clueless with branding, so I didn't request for any specific brands throughout my whole reno.
  17. Haha...I'm not sure why the common belief that contractor doesn't know what to do. I agree that if you get separate teams like tiling team one group, carpentry one group, etc....then of course you become the central person and have to decide and buy everything. The teams don't know the overall design so they have to depend on you to tell them what to do. With a main contractor, I think they basically function more or less like a ID. Just that there is no 3D drawings. I dun have to tell the contractor specifically where I wanted what...he knows the way. wahahaha....If you have something you want to incorporate, of course must let him know, but that is the same case with contractor or ID. I showed him pics plucked off the internet when I saw something I wanted too. Mine also told me when something I grabbed off the Net was not recommended. He will go very nicely....'not recommended because ~ ' He also drove me to pick out the tiles and he was the one that helped pick some when I was 'stuck'. He arranged the purchase with the shop after I picked out the tiles, I didn't have to bother. I also asked him to recommend lighting shop and he drove me to pick out the lights too. All my taps and sinks and even WC was bought by him. He did show me the catalog before he bought. Not sure if it's true for all contractors, but mine does check with me on major items before they started. Like where I wanted the electrical points, how the carpentry is to be, etc...
  18. haha.. I agree it's an headache. Ended up getting relative's recommended contractor and give up comparing as felt more comfortable with him. Most quotes are cheaper here, more expensive there etc.... Compare on big picture basis....like kitchen = $X , Hall area = $Y compare. Though you need quotes stating similar requirements to compare though. Problem is if you talk to too many ID/contractors, everyone has a slightly different view of what should be done.
  19. organise barbecue session.
  20. The Andriod box I talked about many many posts ago...I finally set it up. Got a HDMI cable from Taobao in this loot. Any experts out there on this? How to get more 'useful' stuff? The range of stuff accessible on this is not very attractive leh....YouTube, Baidu, Google search, calculator (who switch on TV to use calculator de?) , world wide web explorer, google search and a couple of media players from Philips. [ can plug in USB and play videos / music from this thing I guess....] Tried to search in google play, but the free Apps are pathetic...Must pay then got good stuff har?
  21. I reached home around 9.45pm or thereabouts.....and the robot vaccum was 'guai guai' sitting in its charging dock already. The charging dock seems to have moved a bit. It has turned about 45 degrees. I placed it against the wall when I left this morning, not at this strange angle. haha...probably the robot had problem with 'reverse parking' or something and turned the dock a bit. The dock is a hollow piece of plastic, so it's pretty light. Look at the amount of dust and debris and hair (oh gosh, I must be a dog or something...so much hair fall) this baby collected! Really no idea where it got all the dust and stuff from. I vacuumed and mopped twice since move in liao. (ok lah. Once. 2nd time is my mom's credit. Haha) I set it going while I was eating dinner...so I watched it go around the living room....It had slight trouble with space beside the wall beside my sofa. I think it can't gauge if the space is big enough for it to go past so it knocked on the wall twice before it managed to go past that area. Not hard knocks though, just light taps. I think it still needs time to familiarize itself with the surroundings. I saw it bump into the TV console once, then back up. After that it 'knew' the console was there and backed up, turned away when it went close. Oh..and my sofa has legs so there is space underneath the sofa. The robot went underneath the sofa too.....LOL. For those Chinese-challenged folks out there, this robot 'speaks' English. Operating buttons (on top of the robot surface) are also in English. User manual has Chinese and English. The English is 'standard' understandable kind, not those mangled translation type. I got the black version. [The blue model has a more powerful battery hence more expensive.] Best part? The price dropped since I bought it. I got it at RMB1099 [Oh well, it's still a lot more affordable then a LG version] Here's the link in case anyone is interested. http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=14473749844
  22. Free OT for boss until 9.30pm Just had dinner, blah blah blah...and only got to log on now.
  23. My new toy~ Robot Vacuum. Had to charge 12 hours solid before first use so I am not sure how it performs yet. First impressions were it looked nice and solid, 'speaks English', charger and accessories all working well. Just sent it cleaning this morning before I left for work. Will have to check how it performs later tonight and update with review.
  24. This is the 'largest' piece of item I've bought from Taobao to date. Coffee / Side table. I got a set of one bigger, one smaller size. Came protected with wooden crate on the sides, plus styrofoam inside the box. No damages as far as I can see. Took me a long time to pry open the crates as there were nails all over. Didn't have a crowbar so used screwdriver flat end to pry upwards to get a 'space', after which the end of the hammer worked well. Hee~ The bigger table went to the corner - for placing the modems and what nots. This is the 'price' of not doing TV feature wall. LOL....lots of wires running around. Will figure out how to 'neaten' them up later.
