Stove and Sink Support partially done. Sink mounted. Stove delivered, yet to be installed. Tiling of this support structure also not completed yet. : The sideways view. The tiling has been finished on this side. This part will be covered by the kitchen cabinets later, won't be visible. There is also a small cut out at the back for the citygas pipe to go past. Close up of the Rubine sink. Spotted a drawing....probably my contractor's instructions to the masonry team? Oh, and I forgot to update earlier. The stove will be moved about 1 drawer space away from the sink as compared to the previous drawing. The contractor called me up to say sink/stove a bit too close last Sunday and asked about leaving a space of 1 door or 3 doors away. I opted for 1 door away so it's not that far from the sink. Also asked for drawers instead of door on this side as I will likely be storing utensils in the drawers. I dun think my contractor is reading Renotalk leh....how he know I hiam the stove and sink too close? I was actually surprised he call me up to 'volunteer' to change the positioning. hahah...maybe when I was telling Mom on that Saturday when we went up to measure curtain rod length, the tiling/masonry team heard what I said and told him. Fridge base? Cabinet base? Based on drawings, this area is the tall unit cabinet is supposed to be....so I thinking is cabinet base. My mum says is fridge base. Contractor was telling me last week that cabinet can be on either side, but if the fridge is on the outside then sideways view will show the fridge's "ugly" back-end. If hiding in the corner won't be visible, so he recommended cabinet on the outside. hmmm....will clarify with contractor Monday as I'm meeting him and the guy(s) who will be doing the plumbing.

+1 vote for white. So you can get more blue furnishings, or another color later when you feel like it.

Hi, the unit number 'plate' will be done by the same wrought iron gate supplier. I understand it will just be a plain rectangle with my unit number on it on the top left hand fixed panel of the gate. My contractor is arranging for customisation of the gate. If you already have a gate without the customisation, you can probably get a one of these things (maybe not this particular design...I'm not sure 2 fishes and seaweed represents...). I'm not sure how much this costs though. This can usually be done by the same wrought iron gate suppliers. My parent's home has one of these, but very simple design, not with fishes and seaweed..... The picture I linked above is from the site below... Note : I'm not endorsing them though....I haven't dealt with these folks. Just googled "HDB wrought iron unit number plates" and this site came up with the picture... : http://metalspecialist.com.sg/newpage2-mar.htm

Hi apple! Paiseh....I left a lot of things to my main contractor to do....this metal gate again is just picked from the catalog given to me by my contractor. Catalog indicates this is from C.C.N Metalworks...but there isn't any contact numbers on the catalog. Sorry I am not of better help. My contractor did suggest which one to pick...the full catalog is 2 pages, about 20 designs on each page... I think my contractor knows my taste by now liao. He picked this 2nd most simple design...and he seems to remember I dun like brown color, so he told me he will change the woody bits to metal....haha.... He's also going to get me a unit number plate on the top left hand corner of the gate.

Just to warn you that the kitchen and bathroom works are the 'most dusty'. Literally can smell concrete in the air. If your unit not well ventilated, the dust in the air will make you choke. hahah...[my mom's place just renovated only kitchen....so I know the horrible dust.] So usually people will ask you to do these first before you move in.....reno on bedroom stuff - don't think the dust will be as bad as the kitchen works.

Able to share how much this rack costs? Looking into getting racks for my 'new' storeroom too.

Also, forgot to say. The door frame and the door are separately charged. I had to install new door frames for Master bedroom, bedroom 2 and storeroom. 1. The original BR2 door was inward opening. This door becomes my storeroom entrance after the new hollow block wall is up . Have to change the door frame because new door will need to open outwards instead for storeroom. 2. Masterbed room : original door frame was hacked off coz the wall was hacked, hence need replacement. 3. BR2 : original door frame becomes the storeroom door liao...so need another new frame. Confused yet? This is why you see 3 new door frames in my pictures above, but only 2 new doors. haha....

Haha..not sure mah...cannot assume. Problem with taobao is there are too many stuff, so if keywords not specific enough to narrow down what you are looking for it's 'difficult' to shop. See lot and lots of listings on generic search....by the time you are on page 5 or so you will be dizzy liao.

Hi OceanEleven, Uhmm..my main contractor arranged for this, so I have no idea who did the windows. My permit was approved Monday and it's already all installed by the time I went over this evening. LOL. I've been just seeing the main tiler uncle so far. He was leaving the unit when I arrived at 7.30pm today..... I do see a windows contractor on my HDB permit as below, think they should be the ones who did my windows : C.C.N. ALUMINIUM & RENOVATION Tel: 63450881, Fax: 67426828 HDB Licence No: HB-04-3584D

Do you read chinese well? I'm not sure, you could try looking for ‘长方行吊灯’ at taobao. [translation : rectangular hanging light] I hope I saw the picture correctly, it is a hanging light? Or maybe '餐厅吊灯‘ [dining hanging lights] to look for all dining lights regardless of shape..... or just '吊灯' - all hanging lights!

This is another new addition not in my original quote. Dunno if I will regret later... I requested for 'something' to 'break up' the kitchen cabinet from the living room area. Bar counters are not my sort of thing....I don't drink. whahaha....contractor also said they are nice to look at but not practical for most people....coz the bar stools are high and difficult to sit on. True for me in any case. I'm not exactly a *small* lady. Island counter will look strange too....coz the chairs will be in the living room.... So this wall was suggested. Contractor was saying if I ever change my mind and install full height glass doors in future, this will be a nice wall to fix the glass doors to. LOL.

Just the bathroom and service balcony windows due to the problems I stated in my earlier posts. I kept the rest of the windows. For Doors, got 2 new ones: 1. Classic door for storeroom coz there wasn't a storeroom originally. Thought no point getting a solid door since it's just a storeroom. 2. Master bedroom door. The area where the door knob is is damaged - wood is fraying and there are wood chips seen. I asked the contractor whatever happened to get this kind of damage and he says most likely prior owner forgot keys and had to pry open the door causing the fraying of the wood at the door knob/lock area. If I'm not wrong, i think the master bedroom's replacement is a nyatoh door. No choice on the door design as got to match back to the existing. So....it looks like the door designs haven't changed in the last 10 years since the exact design is still in the catalogs? I am pretty sure my flat's doors are at least 10 years old. The contractor's team of workers actually took down the master bedroom door and Bedroom 2 door off and laid them carefully to the side awaiting re-installation after the walls were done. I just saw the master bedroom door's problem so requested to change the door.

my sink support? Coz there is a corner at the top there to fit the recessed wall in the kitchen wall at the sink area... Should be stove support. LOL. The sink support should be straight line edge coz it's on the protruding wall, closest to the service balcony. The beginnings of the concrete sink / stove supports :

Taken from inside the master bedroom. The new entrance faces Bedroom 2's new entrance. The hollow block wall for the newly created storeroom up. Cement is still fresh... Sorry, poor lighting in the picture here as well...there isn't lighting installed yet around this area.

Windows changed~ is aluminium silver color, not black ....coz I see an air bubble on the black strip. Think must be the protective sticker. Master bathroom : common bathroom's. Sorry for the lousy exposure. The lights in this bathroom have been taken off as the wall holding the switch was knocked down. No decent lighting so I switched on the flash on phone camera... new windows in service yard~

I agree ~ curtains are expensive. Was at Ikea over weekend to get curtains, the highest end ready made in cotton velveteen was $129 a set. There were cheaper ones of course, started from around $14.90/set..but material quite filmsy kind, unlikely to be able to block out much sun. I ended up only getting curtains for the bedrooms. The living room has too much windows, just getting curtains will break my bank. Maintenance wise, the ones in use at my mom's place wash twice a year only. hahahah.....
-
I see. Thanks! Didn't seriously go over to the counter to ask about the delivery and installation charges. Was asking for 'fun'. ahahaha....coz my contractor said 'small matter', can get his men to drill the holes for me to install those curtain rods...no additional charges. Probably more than enough inbuilt in the quotes to cover a few small hole drillings bah....
-
eh....I was there over the weekend, the sales personnel standing around said $5 per hole, not $4... I asked about fixing curtain rods to the wall....so price increase again? Had an adventure to transport the longer curtain rods home coz they don't fit in the taxi boot. Had to go lengthwise from front of seat at the drivers side to the end of the backseat. hahhaha...all because I'm trying to save $55 delivery charges.
