  5. Hood definitely need socket. As for hob, it depends. it you getting induction hob then need socket. if gas-hob, then you must check which brand/model you will be getting, as some do not need power socket, they use battery to create the spark to ignite the gas, while others use electricity to spark.

  9. it depends whether you are changing the entire lock set or only changing the mortice cylinder. mine is only changing the mortice cylinder. Mortice cylinder, it is only the part where your key is inserted. Quote: A cylinder lock is a lock constructed with a cylinder that a locksmith can easily unscrew to facilitate rekeying. Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cylinder_lock Entire lockset includes mortice cylinder, door handle, etc. looks like this: http://www.yaleasia.com/en/yale/yale-asia/yale-lock-products/?groupId=4502&productId=60674 Changing entire lockset can be expensive. starting price if i remember correctly is $200 and above.
  10. ehh...do budget about additional 10% of the quotation for surprises. especially after hacking, subcontractors may come back to say this and that, and need extra $$ to do this and that. this will help to minimize frustration and tension with the ID if it does happens. at least you are mentally prepared...anyway, my 2cents...
  11. correct. some locksmith charges $60 for letterbox. My $200 is for all 3 locks (letterbox, main door and main gate).
  12. Noted. Will do so once I moved in. I'm still shifting my stuffs so haven't move in yet
  13. I don't believe in fengshui. Bought purely for creating a relaxing environment
  14. Depends on which brand of quartz. $120/ft for quartz is possible.
  15. Yes, of course must change. Even the letterbox's lock also change. i did mine for S$200.
  16. Best not to paint it white. its unique as it is on its own.
  17. because ID has other projects on hand and/or potential new projects coming up. quickly finish and he can get $$ quickly. complete more projects within a short frame of time means more income/productivity.
  18. Thanks everyone on the compliments on the water feature. Definitely made a correct choice instead of a stucco wall or craftstone wall. Maybe can put some fishes too Yesterday, bought a writing table and chair (to be delivered next week) from scanteak's promo http://www.scanteak.com.sg/promotion/weekday-special
  19. surprises especially additional costs during renovation is not new. most people experienced this. fault sometimes is with the ID for not checking and advising during the quotation stage (unless you make changes after the quotation is finalized).
  20. vhive quite durable. My parents' is tempered glass-top tv console from vhive and it lasts us since 2006 and still using. except for some rusting metal parts which we painted it.
