  1. Did you check Ideal House website? They have some packages. If you base what is quoted in the package and the price of it, you can get a rough idea if its a reasonable quote
  2. Decided to start a new thread on Ideal House. Had a hard time finding the information looking for We got another ID also from Ideal House Our reno starting soon, just would like to know if others also got Ideal House ID ? Was the workmanship good? The scheduling and other stuff? Thanks!! -Celest
  3. If I recall correctly, Ideal House some workers come back on the 10th of Lunar Month The carpenters then come back on 15th of Lunar Month The hacking crew is Malay so guess they come back when the majority come back
  4. Whoa nice place you got...its looks almsot brand new even without reno How did you manage to reduce the quote?
  5. understand that after the open door ceremony, we can't enter the house for the next 3 days. how about dong tu ceremony? we were advised that we need to leave the house immediately after the ceremony. after that when can we enter the house again? after the reno started? anyone can advise?
  6. We havent decided if we want to install an aircon at this stage. Thats why we asking about it My ID say they can remove it for us for a charge of 150 dollars I was looking at the Natural Cool promo for tradein . The old one is a national so if I can trade in I can get 350 off...which isnt too bad Any experience with Natural Cool?
  7. Not sure the model number of the tile but there was only 2 tiles at Hafary with this green color. One had long strip pattern which was what we chose the other had the box pattern which we didnt like. So if yours is also the one with the long strip then it should be the same Was so happy we could find this exact same shade we saw in a hotel toilet in China Today went to the house just to air it out , saw that the lift upgrading project has reached our floor!!
  8. We basically hack and replace everything, quote was about 32-33k.
  9. Called KDK to asked about the 60" Yuragi ceiling fan we were eyeing THey said that fan was not approved for HDB ! Say if we want to buy and install , can also. Just have to remove IF HDB inspect the flat. The way she said it seems like HDB does not approve 60" fans for use in HDB flats Anyone know how we can check which fans are approved for HDB and which are not? Is there a list on website somewhere? Whats the maximum size approved?
  10. thinking of getting some furniture from BKK too. has anyone tried shipping furniture back from BKK? any recommendation on a reliable shipping company?
  11. Hi Redwyrm, So far our experience with Steven and Max from ideal house is good. They are very quick in responding. Had went to choose tiles with them. I like the lime green tiles, but was having problem matching the floor tiles. Steven managed to come out with a design idea where the green color will not be too overwhelming, so i can still use the color. hehe
  12. Went down Hafary to choose tiles yesterday. Steven was telling us usually took around 3 hours to choose the tiles. I thought, cham ah, I so indecisive, think need to stay there overnight to choose tiles liao. Surprisingly, we only took 1.5 hours to choose all the tiles. Maybe because we were trying to stick to the max tile rate stated in the reno package, hence, that sort of limit our search. Nevertheless, some of the tiles still exceed the max tile rate Steven was kind enough to close one eye, didn't increase our quote Choosing of living and bedroom tile was pretty easy. We managed to decide on the tile within 10 mins. Living, dining and bedroom tile It was the toilet and kitchen wall and floor tiles that gave us a headache. Luckily we roughly have an idea of the color scheme and Steven and the staff at Hafary were able to give good advise on the combination and design. Kitchen tile MBR Toilet tile (hope it won't turn out too dark ) Common Toilet tile (saw this combination during my china trip. like the refreshing feel of the lime green tile) After choosing the tiles, while my FH and Steven were doing the final discussion, I went to the washroom at Hafary. Wow, their toilet design was nice too! haha... for once i thought of changing the tiles for my MBR toilet and adopt their design too see!!!! indecisive + flickle-minded!!! in the end, still kept to my initial choice
  13. We are using Ideal House too but ID is Steven and Max. Reno not completed so cannot say about their handiwork but so far in terms of responsive to our request and following up with us, they have been very prompt
  14. Before going to choose tiles today brought the Ideal House ID (Steven and Max) to the house to do some measurement. Wanted to ask them if we can change our sliding windows to casement but retain the grill. Save money mah They measured the grills and said "Can". My FH was so happy as can save 1k. Then when he went to one of the rooms and pull a bit on one of the grill, the grill corner came apart Went around checking the grills and saw they were a bit koya .... End up decided to change the grills Another 1k to the bill
  15. Hi Meiling, welcome to Renotalk. I was a newbie also when we started to search for a ID/contractor around September. Went through about 10 of them before we decided on 1. Think the part about responsive depends on your luck. Sometimes if they have too many project on hand they are not so responsive. But thats not to say they are no good. Vice versa those very responsive does not mean they lousy cause no project We went through the list of 7-8 of those highly recommended in general in forum and email all of them plus a few more recommended by friends. But only a few replied. We were quite shocked. Like no one wanted our business like that. Maybe it was end of year so they had high work load. Those that replied some their attitude and their quotation were contrary to what we expected after reading about them in the forum. Guess really depends on luck. The popular and recommended ID/Contractor based on what can be read from the forum are A & D Baroque Earnest GPlan Ideal House IntraDesign GPlan Ho Bee Might be a good way to start the search. Just email them your floor plan and what you want done to it. The drawing part you might wanna negotiate with them after you run through their quote. Unless budget is not an issue, as for us we only bother asking for the drawings when we see their quote is more or less near my budget. Anyway with regards to the list above, you might want to read through the recent posting on the threads about them, new clients might have different experience from the previous ones For us, we decided on one of the firm on the list but not the person indicated but another of the ID in the firm. Decided on him because his quote was near our budget and he was most responsive to our requests and with his follow up. Cross my fingers his work is good Happy hunting for your ID.....its very tiring
  16. Where did you buy the Crestar fans? We went to New World Center (Hoe Kee) check out a few shops, they were trying to push this brand Mountain Aire on us Didnt see any KDK, Fanco or Elmark. Got Amasco i think Where did you buy your fanco fan?
  17. Finally did my open door yesterday!! had been asking around what to do for the open door. some advise sprinkle rice + salt, some rice + tea leaves, some rice + green bean.... we were like eh... which is the correct one in the end, we kiasu cum kiasi, decided to sprinkle rice + salt + tea leaves + green beans in addition, we roll in pineapples and place some green beans on a wet cotton wool to let it grow my FH I think too energetic, roll the pineapple almost out to the balcony , lucky the balcony door block it and it bounce back in tomorrow going hafary to choose tiles, can't wait to see all the beautiful tiles but then, with me being indecisive, think gonna have a headache choosing tiles
