  1. Don't really like it leh. That's why in the first place I thought for a long time before starting this blog.
  2. If you see pictures of your house appearing somewhere else on the Internet without your knowledge, how would you feel? Take it as a compliment some people think it's nice enough to feature them or feel upset they are being spread around the Internet?
  3. Actually not that lucky compared to some dogs that get free roam of the house! Thanks
  4. Why is he afraid to use grey/white? No it's not HERF. It's normal laminate, Kronotex Mammut.
  5. Agree. Reno quotes are marked up for condos. Contractors admit that, giving reasons (excuses?) like concealed pipes and wiring, non standard ceiling height.
  6. How inconsistent! I purchased some ikea stuff two weeks ago and they were only delivered yesterday!
  7. Erm, a bit hard to say how much it cost leh. But the work done includes tiling the floor, tiling the wall, painting the wall, bathtub, bathtub mixer, vanity counter, mirror (just installed today, will post picture soon), plumbing, electrical, lights, etc. maybe 5k? Am afraid of maintenance too. So you know what? I've moved in almost a month and haven't used the tub yet! Only the boy has played in it twice. The bathroom is hardly used. We usually used the common bathroom, so only need to clean one bathroom!
  8. There are still some outstanding works, even thought full payment has been made. - install extension tube to rain shower to bring it higher - replace generic hinges to Blum ones - install mirror in bathroom - install yard door I am glad to have taken some of these pictures because the house is now getting cluttered. Will take another set of pictures when the house is more complete.
  9. Bathroom - my favourite room in the house!
  10. Reposting some images. Living room Kitchen
  11. Thanks Klimoo. Yes I actually prefer the look of the wooden drawers, but worry they may not be as durable as the Blum metal ones. And of course the thought that I didn't get what I paid for. The carpenter is supposed to come today to replace all the generic hinges to Blum ones, but I was just informed he's sick and will come another day. I guess lesson learnt from my experience is to remind and confirm with your contractor what you'll be getting. I left it to the contractor to handle everything and by the time I realised after everything is up, it's too much of a hassle and a waste to change. If I didn't continue to read the forum (and seen other post proudly about their Blum), I wouldn't have gone to check my drawers and hinges. I hope these are honest mistakes.
  12. If it's any consolation to you, my carpentry work (which was supposed to include Blum drawers but I got Blum runners instead) cost $4885 for 13.5 ft of bottom cabinets only. Thanks for sharing your experience with the invisible grilles. I wanted to install it, but (lousy) condo management said no. So what do you plan to do to the windows to keep the cats and kids safe this time?
  13. Good luck with you reno! So you signed with Mr K after all If your electrical team is the same as mine, they are quite pricey. But I've seen the guys in action, and they're quite serious in their work. Recently they just came down to fix my noisy ceiling fans and now they are noisy no more. I was quoted 2.8k and finally got to top up another 1.5k, so a total of 4.3k just on electrical works.
  14. Isn't it terrible that the contractor isn't able to / wouldn't do anything about the poor painting job. Thought we pay them to coordinate and manage to meet our expectations. My painter did quite a good job or my expectation is low. If you're interested can pass you the contact, though it might be a bit pricey.
  15. Thanks for the info. When you say Blum drawer, is it a drawer all ready to be installed or the carpenter still has to fabricate the front panel? I just read about your Blum adventure, I'm surprised you had to get them yourself. And I guess it depends on how your contract is worded. When your contractor quoted for the kitchen carpentry, did the quote include Blum drawers or drawers of any sort?
  16. Don't think it's possible because they are claiming otherwise, saying these drawers are actually more expensive. Well my plan is, when these drawers break down, I'll get Blum drawers next time.
  17. The album on google+ was removed, let me try upload again.
  18. Hi, it's been reserved, and there's another on the wait list, will put you on the wait list and I'll let you know if the first two didn't work out. Thanks for your interest.
  19. Thanks for sharing your experience. I also think Blum drawers are more expensive too. I was thinking to change too since I was quoted and I have paid for them. But finally probably not because of several reasons: 1. The current drawers may fit the theme of the house better. The look of the wooden drawers is more consistent with the cabinet style compared to metal Blum ones. 2. I don't like to see things being wasted. These drawers have been fabricated. Would be a waste for them to throw these away and make new ones using Blum side panels. 3. My uncle is a contractor specializing in carpentry work and my mum once mentioned they incur losses sometimes when home owners are not happy with what they fabricated and they have to fabricate again. So I feel for the carpenters too. 4. Mr K said he didn't earn much from my project, wouldn't want to make him incur losses. So I think I will live with them.
  20. Yes, you can have it. Self collect. Not sure can fit into car, a van would be better. It's brand new, unused.
  21. *GONE TO GOOD HOME!* A doggy bed from Taobao to give away also. http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.0.0.wR52Ld&id=26989000062 This is how it looks after I've assembled. Didn't manage to fix the ladder because it was almost impossible to align the parts and screws (unlike Ikea assembly). The bed is about 1m long. Quite big and heavy. Giving away because for now (while the old dog is still around, hopefully for a long time), prefer to keep their room uncluttered for ease of cleaning since old dog pees everywhere. Self collect Hougang area (near Punggol Park).
  22. *TAKEN* http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.316.gPaEF3&id=3133033510 Have two of these lights from Taobao to give away. Bought extra during reno and finally not used. I wanted pendant but my taobao buyer (BIL) probably made a mistake and bought the ceiling mounted ones. Size is smallest (12x12cm). Let me know if you're interested.
