  1. Used same ID and we bought the same chairs - Gosh! It's a Japanese design sold everywhere in Japan - Ilari chairs - with originals selling on Global Rakuten with a much better finishing. But exporting here is troublesome - hence TAOBAO! Was initially worried about quality but upon seeing your chairs arriving safely - big confidence booster for me now. *fingers crossed* I get my chairs safe end of next week - or no idea how long Peeka ships here since it shipped on 11th September (another shipment left 6th September)
  2. Shall review my first poop once it's up in about 7-8 days time. Without gross pictures of course!
  3. Wow this brand looks cool. Too bad I was too lazy to shop around as only came to know of better deals through renotalk later. Is it WT1094 you got? 3.8L flush? else the others are around 3.5L flush. Am relieved since if yours work, my Vera A011 should not be too bad since same capacity flush (even though yours clearly looks more premium so might flush better) Did you install Geberit flush inside it? or just Ixiss on its own?
  4. Believed I PM-ed everyone. Back to topic on WC toilet bowls, I'm getting worried my choice of bowl is not strong enough a flush. Especially worrying because I only have 1 WC for the whole house. Am using Vera A-011 WC. Anyone has experience in using this WC? This design seems really easy to clean as no grooves and WC flush with wall - in line with our simple functional design theme (which our ID has recently called MUJI design) but......hope it works!! This very useful app from the PUB list out all the ticks and flushing litre capacity. Mine is two ticks 3.8L so hope reasonable for a small poop? I added Geberit flush valve system to this but not sure it helps the flush power - think negligible. Just durable that's all is that correct? https://app.pub.gov.sg/WELSSP/Category.aspx?c=5 Feels dumb to use Eco friendly WC and end up flushing twice - waste more water! In fact low capacity is classified as 6L flush in western countries (or they poop bigger?) maybe I should have went over the causeway to get cheap and good 6L ones. Hope to hear some good advice on WC or any fellow Vera A011 poopers share their dirt! And how does the geberit flush added to the WC help the flush (not concealed full geberit but the flush mechanism added)?
  5. Oops....she junked them - what a waste!! Not ecofriendly! Actually no idea what to do with bathroom fittings as well - 1 recycled one set but 1 set and 1 WC left as well sitting around.
  6. Windows in service yard are up! Specifically wanted a 4 panel window as it will open wider and let more air through. It's more balanced as well. And being a functional fengshui believer, I need to have even number of windows in the house. And this makes 22 window openings in the house instead of 21!!
  7. Hi Did you wait very long to get the posters? Silly me just bought quite a few and hoping my money doesn't disappear into thin air without the posters! Mine is 1 week past the expected delivery date. Emailed them and they said wait another 25 days before writing to them for refund or resend posters again.........
  8. Got a bunch of those anqiue brass them via Taobao. Anything is possible on Taobao nowadays but hope the quality that arrives is good. It's really affordable to get all the below vs. getting it along Balestier and Jalan Besar. Since items are small, it's my first time using the 4PX direct air freight to Singapore so only takes a short while to reach. Waiting with bated breath and enjoying all the first times (while trying to keep the stress of making mistakes under control) Problem is......won't really match with the chrome/steel look of the Grohe taps, showers and mixers but i guess that's the house design style - function first fengshui second then form is an add-on
  9. Thought my neighbour is really cool. Go along to Hamilton Road on weekday office hours and look for P** K*** Electrical Store if you want to pay just a few bucks for Legrand switches and sockets and only $10 for those high end switches with LED lights - and quote me the guy that keeps popping by to buy cheap T & J sockets for everyone as free gifts
  10. Choosing door handles. One in the middle please Had the most interesting lessons on wiring and electrical/LAN stuff this week with my office neighbours. Ain't you glad your office is beside all the Electrical Import/Export trading stores in Singapore? Got some sockets for free and changed some of my sockets cheaply. The real cost price of those high end sockets are really low and it can be shocking how much they buy in those pieces for from the manufacturers. then again Electricians also must earn some $ so you can spend less than $100 to buy all the branded Legrant/Schneider Neo switches to fill your house but Mr. Electrician not going to be happy you did not pay him $25-30 per socket (cheapest socket) for replacing HDB ones. If something happens, the famous reply is "Not my fault, wiring does not break down, must be socket, I didn't get the socket, you did. Go solve your own issues"
  11. Using the same ID firm and funny I had the exact same discussion with the ID last week. How tall was your whole contraption in front? I reduced my to 1m height by 1.5m long now and 100% movable so i can perhaps sell it as a whole piece shoe cabinet if it doesn't work out
  12. Delivery guy for Samsung washing machine unbolting the washing machine to activate the stabilisers. There's even a spanner to adjust the height of the washing machine (lower down for more stability once permanently put in place) Question is the connection to the tap. Delivery guy advised me to change the tap to fit for better flow and better fit as HDB tap sucks, he says. Should I change tap or just buy an adaptor? Any advice here? I saw on there forums they using this:
  13. Thanks for the response - appreciate it! No worries, i will think of something - I cannot tear down windows to powder coat, so white paint shall do the trick and then there would be would be blinds/curtains to cover it anyway. Mine's not whitish aluminium, i thought everyone in HDB have the same boring stainless steel window frames? Anyway, you should ask for a further discount for not making good anything promised as that window work would have been quite a job.
  14. Popped by for a quick look and amazing the guys are working sunday to finish all the flooring on time. He's working on the skirting now. Somehow the skirting does not work for me and want to change it to white skirting - perhaps tear it out (wife thought it was really mean to do that to all his hard work)? or perhaps paint it white - idea is we do not want the skirting to "cut" the bottom of the white wall, so as to make everything look longer and wider. Simply loved the vinyl flooring and its texture - happy it is water proof as well. Been hearing a lot about Evorich or another brand but all the write-ups about them simply confused me. Brand or no brand - this does it for me
  15. Wow...May until now in September still not done? That is long. Actually for mine if without the long wait for the cement screening from HDB (and that I do not want to pay ang pao money), and a few days needed for cement screed to settle, it's proceeding pretty fast - around 4.5 weeks. But I know a friend in the area that wins hands down. He got BSC guys to do part of the renovation - didn't know hacking and replacing tiles etc can be done in one day. I guess a nice ang pao can gather all the troops to do it pretty quickly. The price paid was cheaper than going to contractor direct! Another businessman friend I know splurged on a huge 2 storey house but gathered all the professional foreign workers to come by every sunday to earn pocket money - from building brick walls, tiling, painting etc to "borrowing leftover materials" from other projects. Saved him a fortune as the size of his property will just make him vulnerable to become a big "carrot" to contractors or ID alike. For me I think I paid too much but telling myself I am getting good service and an objective opinion (with good taste) to settle design disputes with my wife. Moreover my wife does not really speak English or Mandarin so I needed someone patient enough (unlike me) to keep things happy and shiny. It is not easy when my wife wants something totally different from me.
  16. Guys working hard at night to finish the flooring! Excited to see everything taking shape! Bought the track lights and ceiling mount spot lights at Lightcraft, sofa + desk + shelf from Commune/ Crate & Barrel today. I must say enough for now and let the furniture sit in before I buy anything else - do not want to regret my purchases! Next up - Gas heater installation on Monday morning and service yard window installation
  17. Hi there, really enjoyed reading your renovation experience and learned a lot along the way. I saw before you mentioned you will do something to the windows to cover off the aluminium frames. I didn't know you can do wood trimmings and would like to see your finished end product. I hate the ugly aluminium window frames in the living room as well but I have no solution or ideas. ID offered to paint them white for me for free, but she warned me the paint might flake or peel off in time to come (and will provide me a tin of paint to touch up in future if it happens). So dying to see how you ended up for this: Wood trimming for windows in white paint finish (to cover the ugly aluminum white frames where possible…)
  18. Hello fellow 3D conceptwerke renovee just want to say Hello! Might have seen you in the 24 Eng Hoon Road office. I'm halfway done! So far service has been good and the experience enjoyable!
  19. Looking for cheap and good multi-standard sockets - not Legrand of course. Anyone know any place to go and how much is one? Looking for 6 pieces Electrician is charging me $28 per piece.....expensive. I may not need many but still expensive - feels like same price as Eubiq sockets! Is that the market price. I did hear this is not allowed in HDB though - so not sure whether to proceed. But I see no issue if i use mainly appliances catered to Singapore power grid
  20. Again on bathrooms - this time for the lights. Bought the lights at a steal in Taipei - all the lights sold in Singapore can be such a rip off. The shop owner in Taipei carefully explained the difference of using the lights in Singapore vs. Taiwan and provided the right bulbs as well. I asked for different bulbs from the pictures below and he has a wide range of edison-like and LED bulbs to choose from!
  21. Bathroom works in progress - Love the wood-looklike tiles and the subway tiles with white screening. Bought the MA- 1210 FER water heater because of the remote control and bath fill function. The small bath will make it fun and easy to bathe my baby princess. Not to forget there was a $50 petrol voucher + $20 NTUC voucher given if you buy at Somerset Gallery. I cannot wait to test it out! Reviews on gas heater vs. electric storage heaters has been mixed - cannot wait to start having my own and going around to test all my neighbours for a verdict. Isn't that a nice opening line for kampung spirit? "Hi Neighbour, can I test how your water heater works?"
  22. For service yard, At first was told had the keep the beam at risk of damaging the pipes but glad they could took everything out in the end. At least it feels now the $500 for the PE was worth it? Was doubting PE was even needed but got the letter from HDB saying so, therefore "no horse run"
