Window Grills
MsPetite replied to jetfire's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
I know this topic has been idled for a while now. I have a house in Admiralty Drive too with the blue windows. We are thinking of re-renovating our place as we are currently renting the place out. 1 question: Is it possible if I change the colors of the blue window frames on the inside of the house without having to remove the whole windows Ok the question may sound stupid but I really dislike the blue windows but as mentioned, we are not allowed to change due to the regulations of the HDB rules. Any suggestions or alternate ways? I know we should try to incorporate this blue window into our whole house concept but for so many years till now, I still think it look so out of place. -
Hi currently all my 3 bedrooms are covered with Firmaflor laminates. I've not officially move in but would like to know how do I care properly for laminate flooring? Can I mop and vacuum as per normal? Read from other threads that laminates can get scratches if vacuum suction is too strong. Anyone can advise me? Thanks. MsPetite

Hi all, My house is in the midst of renovation and now they are in the progress of installing those built-in cabinets. I have a problem with my kitchen cabinet. You see, the contractor had informed the contractor that we will be having an oven below the hob but they have forgotten. So now they have rectified it but I don't think they have done a proper job. The initial cabinet that they have built is with 2 large drawers below the stove for pots and pan storage. 1. Are they suppose to put in the oven first before sealing up the counter or it's necessary for them to open up a hole at the backing to install the oven? If so, they did just open the hole by sawing and not cutting up the hole before installing the cabinet. From the pic, you are able to tell how bad the workmanship is by judging at the jagged raw edges that they have done. Although it's not visible to eyes after installing but I believe this is not the way to handover. Photos Photos 2. Between the hob and the oven, should they put a plank in between to seperate the oven and the hob? The sight is quite ugly as it seems to me. 3. The gaps beside the oven is like 6-7 inches at both sides. Is this normal? I'm afraid in the long term, there will be spiderwebs weaving their cobwebs in there and very dirty to remove. Please advise whether all the above concerns are justifiable. Thanks alot! !! Worse thing is my hubby is not around during this period and I'm handling all these stuff by myself.

Hi TYM, Yup, service balcony is not allowed for cooking and im aware of that. I may change my thought on a kitchen island but need to have talks with various IDs for their opinions first before jumping on the decision. Thanks! hi fungamer, thanks. my intention of getting a kitchen island is actually for preparing purposes not much to cooking stuff as I believe it's really will cost a bomb to do all the waterproofing and re-piping and stuff like that. Gosh, am so busy with work lately that I hardly have time to come in and check the posts.

Subsidy From Gov For Doing Re-tiling Of Floor?
MsPetite replied to MsPetite's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
hi my flat is already 6yrs but i'm considered as the 1st owner as it's under the HDB Bi-monthly selection. I do not know whether the tiles are defective or not because we have not collected our keys yet. -
Hi as per above topic, is that true? I heard it from my friend as I've mentioned that I intend to hack and re-tile my whole house. Anyone know about this?

You guys may want to try e$aver under Standard Chartered Bank. The interest is 1.5% but the con is that no ATM card. Have to transfer money thru internet banking or at the counter but yeah it can help you to withdraw cash as and when you need and discpline yourself.

Hi thanks for your opinion. I think it's good but I think I'm worried are those piping and wiring and stuff like that. Am not sure whether it will cost much more additional costs. I can keep that idea in mind. For all others, thanks for your replies too. I will think about it further. If it's off my budget, then I have to just live with the normal arrangement of cabinets on 2 sides. welcome all opinions and comments still...

MsPetite replied to cornetto's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
Do you mean 7K to do up the whole house or just certain area? OMG. It's really expensive.
