Our Tiny Nest At Punggol
OceanEleven replied to NingNing's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat - HDB BTO Interior Design and Renovation
My items are still in their warehouse. They will not check and you have to monitor delivery as well. Once you are ready to deliver, give Amcon your items' delivery no. and they will confirm received of items. Marble table best is sea freight, due to size and weight. You need to inform seller to wooden crate it, for transporting and lifting. Concern is if drop may chip or crack though. But no risk no gain. TB is no complicated. The tough part is seeking the cheapest way to pay. Buying thru agents cost quite a tad more in my opinion. So I use TB shopping card but exchange rate is a little unfavorably though.- 296 replies

Hmmm.....I feel should have 2 more sockets on the other side of the wall, near the window since you have such a long table top.

Great idea with the 300 pcs! I cannot stand the different colours, sizes, design hangers in the wardrobe. It is so unorganized and look messy, especially if it is a WIW with no doors.

Let me guess, you subscribe to your thread and ambush by the PC waiting for replies. I didnt know there was such a history behind so I guess you better make up your mind once and for all. If the last pc is still in China, then just deliver the items first. Kopi not enough, make sure have kali pok also.- 296 replies

Have you tried asking to deliver first then the rest later? If the last pc is not too much of a trouble, small in package, you can simply ask them to deliver first then.- 296 replies

I guess the special method is to read Chinese. You can try Google translate, cut & paste. Will take time to get the hang of it though.- 296 replies

Bad Experience With I-Bridge Design Pte Ltd
OceanEleven replied to alvinpoh2014's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat
Thanks for the heads up on such issues. My opinion, the reno process should go this way. Discuss what you want, the lay out, the carpentry, the materials etc. Then wait for quotation. Once quotation is ok, sign the contract and then ask for 3D drawings. Initial stage, no point discussing so much on the design, colour, laminates etc. This is a waste of everyone's time. Better to tell ID/contractor things like your theme, 2 full height cabinets in the kitchen, Blum, granite table top, craftstone bricks on this particular wall, wardrobe in all bedrooms etc. This shorten the time used on discussion and at the same time can listen if the ID can propose something different. Chemistry or not also start from here, If the ID insist on certain ideas, design, more ex setup, then move on. Else sit there with ID for 6 hours to sort out colour, design etc but in the end not signing on, a complete waste of everyone's time and life. Also how much can design differs from others, a wardrobe is a wardrobe, no one is champion enough to ask for a triangle one or a hexagon one right? End of the day, it is the laminates, color that makes the difference. What hides behind the door can be sorted out in the carpentry stage. My take on 3D - Good to have but not necessary. Reason, cost of 3D comes from you and take weeks to draw. Most ID sub out the drawings, cost I heard is min $100 up. So that 3-5 pcs of 3D is cutting into your reno cost by $500. I personally dont like 3D. What is drawn does not represent what I want, or what I will get. Think of the paintings on the wall, comfy armchair in the corner, or my favorite - pebbles under the toilet's vanity top with down lights. Many things are there simply to enhance the look which you will never have, get or do. So why waste the time delaying the starting of reno. Just my 2 cents. Paying for consultation, design,3D: Again, why pay for things when others are willingly and readily giving to you in the first place? Unless you really like the company or the ID, I see no reason to pay upfront for something so intangible. For all I know, it may be a simple cut and paste, shift this here and there, change of colour and taa daa here you go, your 3D, design and consultation. They aint no lawyers, where you know nuts and need the expertise. All you need is be proactive, practice some due diligence, do your homework and you are on your way to rock and roll. With all due respects, just my 2 cents. -

Buy something that is solid, such as sinks, shower set, furniture etc. Furniture are normally come dismantle, in boxes.Inform the seller to pack with wooded crates. I have yet to receive my items yet, keeping my finger cross. I found another way to buy from Tabao, albeit the unfavorable rate but perhaps still better than the 3% CC charges.- 296 replies

OceanEleven replied to NingNing's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat - HDB BTO Interior Design and Renovation
I had ordered shower sets, tables, sink, foot rest, small cabinet etc. All ordered by myself and sent to their GZ warehouse, pending consolidation and shipping. Think the main issue is paying to TB or Tmall, need a Zhi Fu Bao account and to top up to it. Only issue is that you have track your own items to ensure arrival to their warehouse via TB/Tmall. You can give Amcon your freight/delivery num. and they can verify for you but they will not check for you. As always, there is a risk factor involved with ordering online. Item can be ok till their warehouse but damage upon reaching Singapore with no prove or what have you.- 296 replies

Just to add my 2 cents: 6) Amcon Language spoken: English / Chinese Based in: Singapore with few warehouses in China (Guangzhou,Shanghai etc) Shipping rates: RMB550 per cubic meter plus documentation plus GST GST: does not assist Commission: Think is RMB50 per item or free if you order and pay yourself but deliver to their warehouse Rates: unknown Transporter: depend on item Review: I had ordered and paid myself but items still lying in their Guangzhou warehouse. Pros: Pretty ok freight if you are ordering bulky items. Cons: They DO NOT open up the cartons to check for damages to the items Use: Best use for bulky items or consolidating numerous items before shipping- 296 replies

Drainer as in?? I am still struggling with single or double sink.....

Same here, going to keep majority of the original HDB windows. Service yard windows going to be replace with new. Window contractor suggested using sliding window for service yards. As for the grilles, use horizontal grilles for the complete house. These are to be replaced. Still pondering on casement or sliding.

Actually is decide the fridge you want then do the carpentry. When choosing fridge, make sure it is big enough. For me, I always go for the biggest 2 doors fridge. In this way, I am always able to replace my fridge with any brand (except those side by side)

Koori, understood the difference between needs and wants. This is a place you to decide to call a house or a home. No matter what, it is gonna be with you for 5 years minimum. This is a place where you will spend most of your time no matter rain or shine. Age is catching up with us where we have the time and money to go places but not the interest and the mood. So the point is to do up the place and call it a home, a place where we reckon with and fall back into. What one save now may come back to haunt you in the long run. Been there, done that. Stretch the budget a little and do it in the way that will please you in years to come.
