Wow...thanks for your comment. My new place at east coast ave, 1.5km away from Tao Nan and CHIJ. 700m away from Ngee Ann. I think I can get a place in Ngee Ann based on balloting. Probably CHIJ as well. Tao Nan abit too tough... I heard CHIJ moved to Bedok, coming back in 2009. Just nice for my daughter...if I can get a place there lah... -
Bigbro and Surge, Pls let me know if you guys want to buy by tomorrow. I will order it on Tuesday.
-
If I order now, we have to wait for 1-2mths. No stock from irobot. The choice is yours. You can don't mod the charger and use a transformer. A transformer is available in sim lim tower at $20-$30 each. Alternatively, I can help you to mod but you have to go sim lim tower to get the components . You pass the components to me when you collect the roomba and I mod ur charger on the spot.

bro, my bad. I flooded this place....cheers.

the charger is 110v. You can't use it in Singapore. Singapore rating is 230-240V. You can get the accessories from local reseller but they will charge you double. This is because you don't buy the roomba from them zirhk, are you referring to me on the handcarry? I did not say I will handcarry any back from USA leh...did I huh? sorry if i did...

Hi...you go to www.irobot.com. Add those items you want into the cart and click checkout to see the total price. I suggest you buy roomba replenish kit at USD29.99. 4260 is USD349.99. I think there is 10% discount for accessories. Shipping from vpost to Sing is approx S$55-60 for one roomba. If you are talking about the living room, defintely no problem. It is all depend on the battery. The battery can last for more than 1hr before it goes back to homebase for charging. You should go to Courts to see the demo, it is quite interesting. Remember to place your homebase in a "strategic" location so that your roomba can "see" the homebase. Basically it is using InfraRed to detect the homebase. If your roomba is working in the bedrm and your homebase is in the living room, and the batt went flat, the roomba won't be able to go back to charge. It is not that intelligent yet. Only electrolux trilobite has a bigger brain to do that. I hope it helps. Anybody wana try trilobite? Can get it at USD550 from amazon. Wow, so far 5 ppl want to buy 4260. I hope you guys don't mind waiting, cos it will take a long time to reach becos currently no stock. Bro, I saw your pm on the contractor, thanks. I will call the mediacorp artistes...haha Actually I am going to USA this Aug with my family to meet him for holiday. I think after seeing this long list, he will not want to see me... He is a student study PHD, so quite free...haha He told me USPS shipping is v simple. Just a phone call away. Irobot will ship to his place and he calls USPS to pick it up. USPS will come in 1hr. I wonder whether we have such service in singapore? oh ya, regarding GST, it is included in the shipping. Vpost will look at the invoice and charge shipping&GST.

Which Of These Primary School Is Better?
kohsw88 replied to kohsw88's topic in Pregnancy,Parenthood and Education Matters
eh...My friend's son went into a pri school in Jurong. First incident. The teachers tells the students there is spelling test next monday. When monday comes, spelling test cancelled. When parents ask the teacher why, they said cancelled because it is not necessary.? Second incident. My friend's son told him that the teacher doze off during class, when the students were writing... My friend, like some parents, don't really bother about primary school. So he enrolled his son to neighbourhood school. Now, he is worried. He wants to transfer his son to another school. -

wow...thanks man. Actually I am ok with any school as long as the teachers are committed to teach. No need tao nan lah. I don't come from good school also. Thanks -
Hi... My daughter going to primary 1 in 2009. I am moving to marine parade nx year. Next year I have to look for primary school for her. The 3 nearest primary schools are Tao Nan, CHIJ (katong) and Ngee Ann. I wish my daughter can go into any of these schools since it is very near. I don't want her to travel alot and have to wake up very early. I know Tan Nan is not easy to get a place but I heard there is backdoor....duno what backdoor though. Anybody know what is good with Ngee Ann and CHIJ? For myself, I don't come from good pri school and mixed with alot of mischevious ppl when I studied there. Everytime fight after school. I hope my daughter can have good study environment and emphasis on moral edu is important. Any comments? Thanks.

bro, laminated flooring no problem! it is scratch resistance. One of my friends used scooba on laminated flooring! scary man. I told him not too cos scooba left trail of water after every cleaning. I afraid the water will sip into the flooring and the wood may warp. He used it for 8 months and nothing happen. He is very happy with it. I used on my parquet flooring and no problem. It is **** good on ceramic and homogenous tiles...my kitchen and toilets nvr so clean before I just ordered a 4260 (black color) from irobot website last week for a friend and there is no stock. Have to wait for at least 1-2 months. Two more guys in this forum also ask me to get them 4260, 4230 and scooba 5800. You see if you want to buy together. PM me if you are interested. You go to irobot www.irobot.com to check the price and tell me which one you want. Buy some filters as spares. You need it later. I will ask my friend in california to get it for me. If you are buying other models, get it from amazon is cheaper. If you are buying high end models, get it from irobot. My advice is always look at the real stuffs on how it works and how effective it is before buying. It is not cheap leh. Later buy liow, don't like it how? But so far, no complaints. The only problem i face with scooba is the clorox. Local reseller doesn't carry as well. Import from USA is v ex on shipping. Basically you are shipping liquid! I experiement different cleaning liquid like detol, fairprice clorox all no gd. too foamy and jam the valve at times. For the charger, I can mod for you guys. But you have to go down to sim lim tower to buy the components as mentioned in my earlier post. Bring it to my place, I solder it on the spot. Less than 15mins job Just side track, I came to this forum to look for a contractor. I want to renovate my mum's 3rm hdb. Anybody has any good contractors to recommend? PM me...dun discuss here...later kena scolding.
-
Nope. Actually roomba will only scratch the wax off the marble floor...even if you clean the floor with conventional vacuum cleaner, it will also cause hairline scratches. If you have ceramic or homogenous tiles, no problem lah.
-
the red one is good, except it comes with 7hr charger and no homebase. In other words, it will take 7 hrs to charge everytime. If no homebase, it can't return to homebase to charge "by itself" if batt is low. Other than that, it works exactly the same as scheduler and discovery. Except the latter two models have other features which I think not necessary lah. If you want to buy red, buy locally. It is cheaper. If you want to buy discovery or scheduler, buy from USA. Use Hein vinegar but i don't like the smell. You can import clorox from irobot, it works out to be approx S$16 per bottle. Quite ex hor. if you buy from irobot locally, it cost you $1200! Buy from amazon or irobot, it is cheaper that way. But local reseller will not honour the warranty if you buy overseas.

burn the charger? :) So far, I have modified Lek's charger to local use. You check with him to see if he got burnt or not He is a happier roomba owner now.... I have used my modified charger for almost a year and i turn it on 7 days x 24 hours....no burnt leh. Bro, why you pay so much for shipping? $110? I paid only $55 for one roomba and $70 for scooba. All from vpost and in sing$. scooba is bigger and heavier. You might want to check with vpost what happen. I have import many roomba and scooba for friends, relatives and siblings
-
wa, nvr played with this before. Maybe you can try and tell us how it works and its usefulness
-
I totally agree with you...this vacuum robot is good. It is just a little bit more ex than conventional vacuum...We never knew how good it is until we get to use it. sure...just pm me if you need any help. Remember to buy those with SWIVEL CASTER Wheels.

This is a refurnished or so called remanufactured roomba at 50% cheaper than the newer unit. Usually the unit is scheduler but the exterior could be white (discovery), grey (4225) or blue (4230). I have also purchased refurnished units before with no issues...but make sure you can take risks...cos once ship here and it is DOA (dead on arrival), you have to ship back which cost you a bomb on shipping. I have bought many robots for friends and so far no issues...try it...
-
Just PM you....ship one roomba back to sing using VPOST is S$50-$55. oh...i juz received your sms
-
I called local reseller few months back, they don't even sell 4260. The 4230 quoted $1.2K. That is alot of $. Actually you can bring your charger to Sim Lim Tower and ask the shop there to help you solder: 1. Replace 47uf @ 200V to 47uf @ 400V 2. Replace pico fuse 1.6A 250V. You just mentioned the above and they will know what you are talking about. Or I can help you with a service charge of a cup of coffee. Why not both of you buy together and I mod both chargers at the same time? It is less than 15mins job. So I have two cup of kopi haha..... Don't buy from irobot direct though, I think if you have vpost account, you can buy from amazon. It is slightly cheaper. irobot doesn't ship direct. I hope local reseller doesn't read this forum, if not, they will be very agitated.. Try to get buy some filters for spares...

I am using this model now . This is 4260. Basically it has additional intell-bin feature compare to model 4230 (blue color). Other than that, everything is the same. I think the intell-bin is useful but usually I don't wait until the bin is full then I clear it. I clear it every 3-4 vacuum. Most important thing in this model or 4230 comes with swivel caster wheel. You don't want the roomba to scratch your floor. If you buy from US, then you are getting the 110v APS (3hrs) charger. It is recommended to use irobot charger cos the charging circuit was designed to charge your APS batt(yellow) to its max. If you do not want to mod your charger to 240V, you can buy a NEWSTAR 230/240V (input) to 110V transformer. Buy the transformer with 100W rating. It costs around S$20. I recommend you to mod the charger, save the hassle of having big transformer next to the homebase. Just buy few components I mentioned in my previous posts and solder them. Cheers. There are touch sensors and cliff sensors. touch sensors (behind bumper) will activate when roomba bump into furnitures or walls and cliff sensors (below the bumper) are to detect steps to prevent roomba from falling off. As time goes by, wear and tear are unavoidable. Make sure you clean your cliff sensors (over time, it will be covered by dust) before your roomba falling off steps.....

I can't remember cos I never replaced that component. You just bring your charger to the shop, the uncle there will use a magnifying glass to peep at your yellow block. They are able to tell...Cheers.
-
Lek, While waiting for me to come back, can you go Sim Lim Tower to buy the following components: 1. 47uf 400 v capacitor 2. 1.6A 250V PCB fuse or pico fuse 3. bring your charger and show them the yellow cap block. Ask them to give you the same rating component. For all these items, you can go to #B1-28. Pico fuse is rare, only this shop sells. For item 1 and 3, it should be available everywhere in Sim Lim. Sim Lim tower hor, not square. If you see any other black color or "Chow Tar" on the rest of the components, pls let me know. But I think unlikely cos the VR1 and fuse are supposed to protect the surge I will contact you when I come back. I can help u to solder these components. My service charge...one cup of Ya Kun coffee Cheers.
