  4. Hi alfredt, The living room floor is the existing granite, in its original condition. We didn't do anything to it at all. Here is a closer look at the floor: granite floor by Harriette_Tan, on Flickr
  5. Our funny bedroom ceilings In all 3 upstairs bedrooms, we have a square hole which contains a sarong cradle hook. We realised that it is less nice to have the square hole. However, we feel that a sarong cradle is a super important equipment when you have a baby and we decided to have one above the bed. vMBR ceiling by Harriette_Tan, on Flickr square hole with round peg by Harriette_Tan, on Flickr We didn't have such ceiling hooks when my daughter was born 2 years ago, so we bought a sarong cradle frame from Kiddy Palace. 9. Hi, your osram light looks good. Where did you buy? Can you PM me the link? Thanks.
  10. Hi Mellenur, Congrats for moving in. Your place looks really nice. Yes, Mr Yeak told me that the carpenter is his brother. Mr Yeak and his brother own a carpentry workshop in Malaysia where they fabricate the carpentry works. Before I hired Mr Yeak, a past client of his told me that his carpentry works is good. I just wanted to verify that this is still true.
  11. Hi Tarzanboy, I need not pay extra for my chosen toilet tile. My aircon vendor is Aircon Designs. You can contact Mr Joey Wong at 9182 5723.
  12. Hi Mellenur, I am about to start my carpentry works. How do you find the quality of Mr Yeak's carpentry works?
  13. Hi NingNing, I think you made a good choice in your bed. My Dunopillo bed (also about 14 inch thick) has an layer of latex that is about 14cm thick. It offered me very good support during my pregnancy, which was crucial coz being pregnant is extremely uncomfortable. I have used this bed for 6 years.
  14. Hi, I didn't try Taobao. I understand that Taobao downlights will cost $18 to $22, based on the many T-blogs that I have read. In my search for lights, the lowest quotation for no-brand lights came from No. 1 Lighting (a shop in Geylang) which offered $25, with 6 months guarantee. I am not adventurous enough to buy lights from Taobao.
  15. Oh, the light shop's name got censored when I posted it. Well, if anyone wish to know the name, I can PM you.
  16. Thanks. Most of our lights are from Philips as we prefer established brand. We bought them from - , located at Orion Building, #01-08, 160 Paya Lebar Road. Their quotation was the lowest, compared to Lightings.com (2nd lowest) and Philips Lighting Showroom at Toa Payoh. Interestingly, Lightings.com has always claimed that they give the lowest price possible and offered a 110% price guarantee. Their website even state that they will refund the customer 110% difference if he can find a lower price product within 7 days of his purchase.
  17. We had a 2-hour discussion with Jay (my ID), Mr Yeak (my contractor) and the carpenter (Mr Yeak's brother) today on the carpentry details. Prior to this, I had a 2-hour discussion with Jay. And prior to this, Jay and I had some email correspondences on the carpentry. Much thought and planning have gone into the carpentry. I'm really looking forward to seeing them implemented. Plus, we are eager to move house. Our IKEA kitchen design is also almost finalised. We should be buying it next week.
