  1. WIW =))) Edmund has very limited options of the door handles for us to choose from as this door cannot have mechanism-kind of handles/lock. He actually suggested me to source from taobao, but I'm too lazy to search and i couldn't wait for the completion of this door! The wall color on the outside is also Granite from ICI =))) Expedit shelving unit from Ikea which i mentioned in my earlier post that i will be using it as an island. Wall color in this room is Latte from ICI, carpet from taobao which i think is overly pink! It looks alright from the picture, but in real life, it is really pinkkkkkk..
  2. Received many PMs about the sofa. Forgotten to share with you guys that the backrest, seat and the side cushion covers can all be removed to wash! They have swatches of fabrics for you to choose too. Notion design do customised headboards as well and you can always add on the ottoman for the sofa if you like =) Hope it helps!
  3. Some of the furnitures that we bought: Mattress from Maxcoil at Posturecare: Got it when it was on some sales @ $760 0r $780 (can't rem as we bargain and bargain, hehe), U.P. @ $1,299 or something. Managed to get 4 free pillows + 2 mattress protector! Sofa from Notion Design: Initially wanted to get chesterfield type of sofa, but it was so expensive in SG. Came across some facebook page, this 3 seater sofa is about $700++ at a strictly no-bargain place. lol Carpet from Taobao. Living room looked kinda empty with no coffee or side table. Still sourcing for a suitable one and since it was no urgent, we took our time.
  4. Been sooooo bz! I'm trying to DIY some small curtain for the toilets windows. Our MBR's toilet window is facing my neighbors living room. Wanna do something like this: It seems so easy from the instructions of Pinterest with using a sewing machine BUT i don't know how to use a sewing machine ! My MIL used to be a seamstress, she can easily sew it within minutes i guess, but i don't wanna trouble her . I have no choice but to hand sew. I'm still doing the sewing as the fabric was pretty thick and i took such a long time. Will post up pics once it's done! If it works, i wanna do something like this for the living room. I think for living room, it will take months to complete. LOL. For roll up curtains, u need long enough fabric to be able to roll
  5. All sent! =) Fake window link: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=20406636483
  6. There u go! http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a2106.m861.1000384.25.7UXFfH&id=14165966923&scm=1029.newlist-0.1.50094976&ppath=8014574:29933&sku=8014574:29933
  7. Thanks! 2 coats of primer, allowing to dry between coats. After an hr or so, we started painting and let it dry overnight. The second day we started on our 2nd coat of paint. The whole process wasn't difficult but have to be really patient and thin coats throughout. Hope it helps!
  8. If you guys has been browsing on Ikea Hacks or Pinterest, those people are amazing! They could transform many ikea furnitures to many purposes! I have this old (really old) Kullen 5 chest drawer from ikea which was in brown-black color which i totally wanna change the color. Went to that paint shop in Geylang again, and that lady was like telling us no paint/primer can adhere to furniture in laminates finish unless we would consider to sand it down. She actually suggested us to get wallpaper sticker to paste over it instead. To sand it down, is too much work ! Well, not giving up, back to my research on pinterest, majority uses this primer brand called "Zinsser". I googled and found there is a distributor in Singapore! We painted about 2 coats of the primer & 2 coats of the oil based white paint with a paint brush as rollers won't work. Stick some accessories that i bought from Taobao. And viola! I like it ! Except for the 3rd row if you notice is done up by hubby which obviously shows that i have more patience . Hehe! Initially we used a kind of glue from Daiso which is useless, and it drop 1 piece in every other day. Went to spotlight again, and bought polyurethane glue which states "super strong". Actually, the right way is to stick and clamp it for few hours. We didn't have a clamp to work with, so i used pegs & scotch tape (LOL). Kinda worried that the scotch tape would cause the paint to peel, but luckily it didn't! =)))
  9. Sent =) There u go! http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=15927421021
  10. Hi there! I only have carpentry works in the kitchen and vanity in MBR toilet. Overall, we were really satisfied with his works. No probs nor issues we have for the cabinets. We have soft closing & abs trimming for all the cabinet doors, though not the expensive blum system but it works just as fine. No complains
  11. Our planning: I bought a fake window from Taobao as well and we were hesitating where to place them at: And in d end, we place it on our walkway =))) I think the frames are not enough, we may add more frames in the future.
  12. Time for some DIY! I really love hands on stuff =)))) We are going to do a photo collage wall. Bought our initials from Taobao. The alphabet came in original woody/maple color which i think it doesn't go so well on my dark wall @ walkway: Hence, we went to spotlight and grab a color tube (but don't know what kind of paint, acrylic paint?) This can be used for wood, plastic & metal: Final look =))) :
  13. How it looks like at my place: Shelf is also from ikea, will be using this as a breakfast counter =))) pending for our high chair from taobao!
  14. We realised that the tap/basin was leaking in the MBR toilet. We contacted Edmund and the plumber came the next day and fix it up! Pretty fast service! Went Ikea and shortlisted some of the things that are suitable! Dinning table: For kitchen: Expedit shelve to be used as an island for WIW: Mirror for MBR toilet:
  15. Thanks! Pm sent =) Nice to hear that! Thanks! Pm sent =)
  16. Back to paint work! Remember those benches i bought from Hock Siong? I painted the legs of the bench to white! With an oil based paint again, but this was easy! And luckily the cushion can be removed, otherwise we would have a hard time. We really like it alot and the white really goes well with grey (better than the original )
  17. Both toilets: Serivce yard: Kitchen: Bedroom 2: Again, I have dad to fix up my rainshower set! =)))
  18. All lightings up! I'm very lucky to have my dad install the lights for me as he used to be an electrician during his younger days =))) Save some pennies again! Living room: Dinning: MBR: WIW: In front of WIW:
  19. Welcome! Hope your discussion is a smooth one! Thanks aska. We have no issues with the doors after painting. As long as the painter paint it thinly and evenly, there won't be such issues at all. We used paint rollers and small brushes for the hinges area for all our doors.. Your id wants you to change the doors just because of colors? Looks like they wanna earn your money. Oops. Thanks Arielgal! The lighter grey in the living room is from Nippon Paint. Color "Urban Grey"
  20. All sent =) No consultation fees involved despite the numerous times we visited him before reno started. Painting was tiring but at the same time it was fulfilling! Vanity cabinets with glass top 3ft is $600 =)

  22. After painting the walls, we started painting the doors & skirting. To paint the skirting is the most tedious part! As to paint wood, we have to use oil based paint. They are hard to dry, sticky to paint, the texture is thick and we have to paint thin layers by layers. I didn't use painter's tape as i find it pretty troublesome to use them on skirting and i used those tiny small painter brush for the corners. Here's the walkway: We really love the effects although i suffered backache & neck ache after that! 3 layers of paint for skirting and doors as we need to cover the original dark brown. And yup, the track lights are up. Track lights are from balestier which cost us $90 for a good 3 year warranty.
