not sure .... but my guess is mishandling during transportation and installation .... the worst ...they try to hid it ..... most of the dent is found on the outside facing of the window .....!! The aircon is UP ..... and i must say .... quite a neat job by the GainCity's technician .... 3 cheers .... for the technicians ....

R-Day 40 ~~~~~~ Finally, the plastering works are done. and that is the most messy work that i have seen .... I thought my bedroom, which i am staying now, is messy. Those plastering workers are really everywhere, even the tiler (ah wee) is shaking his head. Electrical work comes after the plastering works..... 1 more day the electrical work will be done .....

The window for the whole house is up .... But we discovered that the window at the dining is slanting to one side.... So we did a measurement, and realised that the left and right side is approximately 5cm different in height. Called the contractor .... she said the magic word "IT'S LIKE THAT WANT ...... " "YOUR WALL IS NOT STRAIGTH MAH ....." i was like ..... "SURE OR NOT ...... " so it's my fault ?? so going to meet her up to take a look ..... What a let down after the good tiling job her tiler has put in ....

R-DAY 30 ( 1 mths) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ One month has passed since the renovation started ..... times really flies ...... Most of the tiling works are done, Ah Wee (the tiling guy) told me that he will just need some touch up work this week, then he will move on to another project. After hearing all the horrible "nightmare" stories of bad tiling works........, actually we are quite paranoia after it. We are very lucky to have ah wee to do up our tiling for us. He is a very nice and patience guy. His workmanship is very good, my parent is singing praises of his skill everytime they do surprise "inspection" to our place. Thanks again ...ah wee !! So far, we are quite satisfy with the work done, the tiles that the contractor recommendated goes well with what we have in mind. so the next phase of the renovation will include, plastering of wall, carpentry, electrical, windows, doors, grills and air-con installations. More decisions have to be made ! and we are closer to our home !

the thing is that we knew that the wall is hackable, becos we saw our neighbour did it anyway, manage to find a QP willing to certify for me and charge me a more reasonable price..

I also professionals .... but my boss didn't pay me that kind of money ....... I am going to move the main door forward ... so the wall around will have to go ... the contractor said the wall is make of RC stiffener not the main support ... should be able to hack .. But of cos ...HDB wants me to get a QP to certify ... !!

Was quoted about $900 buck by a QP to hack down the wall around the main door. Nearly fainted, $900 buck can do a lot of thing leh ! Now i know why civil engineer is in hot demand ....**** ! Too lazy to take picture for these few days ... (rainy weather, nice weather too Zzzzzz........) Anyway, here the update ... the balcony floor was done, was wondering what the contractor was telling C about "the pebble design, very nice very nice" .... now then i get it ... at bit more interesting than just grey tiles ... the flooring for the kitchen is also almost ready ...

The contractor started to put up wall tiles for bathroom ... Following the process of the renovation, gave me a sense of achievement

Went for lights shopping over the weekend, was surprised that some shops really overcharge "like nobody business" ...... Was rather disgusted on the way some shop do their business .....

i don't think they have other colours ..... cos we didn't see it on display ...

can't remember the exact price liao ... but we only bought enough tiles (about 6 to 8) for decorative purpose for one of the toliet .....

I thought by removing the colour, the contrast will make the crack stand out .. i guessed it doesn't matter at all yup, the crack is at the center of the second picture ... i chose my tile at hafary ....

Was checking on the work in progress when we realised that they have delivered the tiles..... when browsing through the tile, we discovered that one of the tile have crack line .... the crack line is more visible when i removed the colour and put more contrast to the picture...

R-Day 3 ~~~~~ The hacking works continue, I wish the hacking works to finish asap, so as to minimise the disturbance to the neighbours.... Me and C seal-up the gate with trash bag to prevent dust from dirtying the corridor.

nope .... staircase is going also .... practically hacking down the whole place Got a call from my contractor .... informing me that our plan of hacking down a wall at the MBR need to be certified by a PE .... Now asking around how much is the cost to engage a PE for a report ... if the cost is too high ... we will have to come up with Plan B

R-DAY ............. RENOVATION STARTS TODAY ... Met up with my designer yesterday to arrange for the R-DAY. She went from neighbour-to-neighbour to notify the renovation works, quite happy that she took the trouble to do this .....

didn't extend the living room into the balcony .... cos i love balcony also ... ya ... u r right ... the reno budget is increasing everytime i meet up with my reno company ....

We are budgeting about S$60K for the renovation .....

congra ! nope ... reno schedule to start next week.... will definitely post lot of pics ....
