Well guys! My small renovation has finally been completed! Pros: Ah Yong addressed almost all of the issues that we had with his work. He gave a lot of freebies even with the cheap quote that he provided (e.g. free chemical wash, electrical fixtures, fixing of door knobs and toilet seats, etc)Cons: Be prepared that he will be extremely slow (can't complain much cos it's cheap after all. If I had the financial ability, I would hire someone with better skills which would definitely cost a lot more) Average workmanship Painters provided are Bangalas or China workers (not sure if they are illegal workers or not) - some of them had shabby work attitude. China workers were more willing to do their jobs on time and took lesser breaks or none at all.Overall, for the quote that he gave ($3800 compared to $5000+ wherever I asked) for the mini reno that I did, I guess I can't really complain much. He came down almost every time the workers were here to double check on their jobs. Which is quite comforting because most of you said he would MIA quite a bit. If you don't mind cheap+slow, you can consider him. If you want chopchop kind of job with 5 stars quality, you will be better off placing your money with another company. Do keep in mind that all I asked him to do was: Paint job for 3 room HDBShoe cabinet with mirrored sliding doors, 1 full-length wardrobe with sliding doors, 1 full-length kitchen cabinet with normal doorsLighting for 2 kitchen lights and dining area (he threw in another 4 for free)I hope this was helpful! If you guys would like, I will upload photos of his work maybe next week or so. House quite messy now. Hehehehe.

Yeah it is halfway done. IT IS HUGE. I didn't expect the cupboards to be so 'thick' looking. They look waaaay too bulky for my taste. Most furniture these days are a little more sleek and thin. Plus it's kinda blocking my front door. It's really awkward. My mom stayed home to supervise the whole thing but I guess I should have stayed home instead. I have a switch on the wall as well, and they cut the hole of the cupboard wrongly so the China carpenter had to do the cutting on the spot, and it looks horrible as ****. I could do a better job. Imagine using a penknife and slicing cardboard without a ruler. That's how it is. UGH. Gonna make sure Ah Yong takes a look and try to fix it.. as much as possible. It's just hideous.

Thanks for the heads up! We did notice that he told us he wasn't "in charge" of the scraping off old paint, etc. Said he did it out of goodwill. Which was pretty strange considering how the other paint companies told us it is usually part of the paint job. Whatever the case is, still made him do it. For the cheap cost we paid ($750 for 3-room without sealant), I'd say the paint job is still passable. No 5 stars to brag about. What appeases me is that if we do have an issue and we make a **** lot of noise, he will come down personally to take a look and rectify the situation as much as possible. And yes, he does take FOREVER. Which we did talk to Ah Yong about, to which he replied that because he gives a very low quotation to his customers, he has quite a lot of contracts on hand, so basically telling us there is a lot on his plate. Cabinets coming in this weekend! I hope the workmanship isn't going to be too bad!

Wish I read up on this forum before I engaged Ah Yong... Now I'm panicking. My mom and I just signed a contract with him but it's only for simple works (e.g. cabinets, painting, etc). He gave the cheapest quote I could find out there and we gave him the contract (since we're on a tight budget as well). If it works out, I'll give an update. If it's s***, I might probably report him as well.
