  1. Haha. I also just realised that the perspective is kinda off.. The depth looks more than the 60cm.. Paiseh..
  2. Thanks for your compliments. I need to help myself visualise before I make such decisions. The 30 minutes of planning and drawing is worth the effort. 1. Noted on the hidden rubbish chute problem. However my cabinet depth under the rubbish chute is only 10cm. I think the problem you mentioned happens where the full cabinet depth of 60cm is built ya? 2. Yes I'm using piped gas.
  3. After speaking with the contractor, I made some changes to my kitchen cabinet design. Gone is the previous U-shape cabinet. I am now just doing an L-shape cabinet, topped with Caesarstone work top. A draft sketch of the cabinet. Somehow I have a feeling that it will still evolve. Haha..
  4. Hi folks, I'm back. During my last few days, I firmed up my reno plans with a contractor. I found him giving an honest pricing, can understand my ideas, and he has been prompt with his follow ups. Paid the 10% deposit. Work should start next week. More details in subsequent posts. I can't wait. At this point I would like to share a little bit more about the purchases from Taobao. The first batch is already here. Haha.. Due to the delay in my reno, I now have a small headache of finding a place to store them while the workers start hacking next week.. Haizzz. Bad planning. Don't learn from me ya. Some of the items in pictures. Lights Toilet stuffs Mosaic tiles, Carpet, shoe cabinet, bar stool
  5. Hi Marcel, did you enlarge the mbr toilet and flush the wall at the window at the same time?
  6. Hi all, apologies for the absence. I have not started my reno, nor have I even selected my ID.. I just returned from a trip from Japan, and infact I'm travelling again this Tuesday for a week. After April things will remain sane for a while. I sure hope to get things started soon too. Will keep you guys updated promptly.
  7. Thanks for the generous compliments. Although it's crooked and not really to scale, it helped greatly in conveying my idea at the initial meeting with the contractors and IDs. I planned the cabinet space based on what I had in my previous kitchen cabinets. I hope it's enough too. I just have to be prepared for deligent housekeeping and control myself from buying unnecessarily. Save money along the way. Heheh. .
  8. Welcome to RT. I love reading threads with budget constraints. I hope to draw inspiration as I am also working with a very tight budget.
  9. Try this shop http://a.m.tmall.com/i9884584670.htm?ut_sk=1.UtVem2i3uMkBAFZzYh8eCnf%2B_12278902_1394031257189.SMS.Page_ShareItem
  10. Welcome to RT, fellow 3-roomer. Looking forward to your updates and purchases.
  11. Hi. I love the way you designed the kitchen. It looks so clean and bright.I may steal some ideas from you, if you dont mind. Your unit is also big. And it is so easy to hide your washing machine and laundry baskets at the corner outside your common toilet. Unlike some of us, who has to withstand the dirty laundry together with food preparartion in the kitchen.
  12. Let's talk about the working space in the kitchen, my favourite spot at home. Above is my own rough sketch of intended cabinet and breakfast counter. Bought my single bowl sink from Taobao, 63x43cm. Kinda regretted now not getting a wider sink. Anyways I will work with what I have.. Or should I order another one and sell this smaller one? Wonder if it can reach in time also.. The breakfast counter side will be taller than the rest of the cabinet by about 20cm. I wonder if my idea of electrical sockets on the cabinet can work out though. Total workspace width of the cabinet will be 10ft.The breakfast counter top will extend it by another 3ft. Notice I am not building wall hung cabinets at the top. I truly want an open concept kitchen. I hope I have sufficient cabinet space to keep clutter out of view.
  13. I am still kinda undecided. I like my initial idea too. However, the door facing door issue is one issue I have to overcome myself too, besides getting buy-ins from wife and daughter.. I should clear up my thoughts before end of this week. Update you guys later.
  14. Did you have any difficulties placing furniture, especially at the corners?
  15. Hi Mike, we could very well be neighbours. I'm at Bedok North too. I was lucky that this seller was in a hurry to sell. Negotiation was easy. Good luck in your search bro.
  16. Hi Songz, Thanks for your suggestion. This actually has crossed my mind. However, the mbr door is quite difficult to relocate due to the beam in solid black. Thus a "cave" for 2 bedroom doors will still have to be present. (see this floorplan version below). The door for the original bedroom also has to be relocated, probably to directly facing the main door. This is to facilitate easy placement of TV / sofa. Having a bedroom door in the middle of the wall shortens the wall dramatically. The above idea was thrashed, as daughter and wife are both uncomfortable with a bedroom door facing the main door. I defer though. But I must respect the occupants of the room.
  17. Oh this is embarassing. I forgot to draw a door for the mbr. See below for the revision. Yes, the daughter will have to enter her brother's room before exiting the room. Woohoo I have my first fan. Thanks for your support KimNaNa. Yup the breakfast counter could very well turn out to be my favourite spot at this home.. I personally have not cooked with an air fryer yet, but I have had friends who have, beside of course frying, roasted, baked a cake, steamed clams, and toasted some dried sole fish. Nuggets and fries will be a breeze though. I must say that it may very well be a "wonder pot". I am certain you can whip up lots of yummy comfort food in it. Recipes abound online.. Hmmm.. makes me wonder if I can sous vide with it.. Haha..
  18. Must always remember not to leave mixer at centre nuetral position. Otherwise half the flow will come from the filters and exhaust the media unknowingly too quickly.
  19. Lorenzo Ubi branch. It's their new wood range. Gotta hurry though. I heard the price went up. I bought it 3 months ago when they newly launched.
  20. Agree with you. Storage cabinets in the pipeline. I cannot stand clutter in the house..
  21. My reno plans.. 1. The storeroom has to go. It feels claustrophobic with the huge chunks of wall in the middle of the house. I want the house to feel airy, lively, and bright. With the kitchen thus opened up, a breakfast counter will break the living area and the kitchen. 2. Creating a wall to enlarge the common bedroom to house my 2 growing kids. The younger boy will take the external part of the room. The elder girl will take the inner, which comes with more privacy. Their maternal grandmother will also live in with the girl, as she is our caregiver for the young boy in the day. 3. Relocating the mbr toilet door. 4. Bringing the vanity basin out of the mbr toilet. Above plans are translated on the following floor plan..
  22. On a happier note, I did some shopping while waiting for the keys collection. A friend managed to help me get some great deals at her workplace. Wifey and I are looking forward to grease-free frying in the house.. My solid single-piece-top walnut dining table and bench + 2 chairs. I scrutinised all edges, underside, and fine grains, and I have to concur with the sales person that it is indeed a single wood piece for the table top.. Price was reasonable too. Less than $1.6k Love at first sight.. I also bought items at taobao. Kitchen sink, rain shower sets, Philips ceiling lights, taps, pendant lights, some misc bathroom accessories are on a container right now to Sg.. Pics of the physical items will be posted later..
  23. Some pics of the spalling ceiling. I managed to speak with the town council and HDB. Unfortunately, both these parties are oppositions in the government, so some tai-chi masters at work were evident. (No prizes for guessing who the masters are..) However, I assured both of them that I will settle the patchup work costs myself. I just needed the town council to ensure that waterproofing is done up properly, otherwise my repairs would have been in vain. This is the bigger headache to me - the slantedness of the wall. The house is already very small. To contend with furniture placement on slanted walls add to the pain. Taking a closer look, it seems that certain walls are slanted by more than my initial estimation of 2-3degrees..Sigh..
  24. Hi KimNaNa, Thanks for your comments. I must say that this model is one of the most, if not the most, spacious 3-roomer available in the market. Good luck on your search. Hope you get a good unit at excellent value too. BTW pls send my greetings to Mr City Hunter. I am a big fan of both of you.. Lol..
  25. Hi songz, Thanks. Looking forward to see your updates too!
