  1. Initially was thinking like you too, to use Starhub's Digital Voice but the minimum plan to be entitled to free outgoing calls is S$59/mth excluding Hubber discount and if you do not want a contract, need to purchase the Voice enabled modem. Since our home calls are moderate (mainly for conference calls, etc), I actually downgraded from my Starhub S$59/mth plan to the 2Mbs plan which is now S$19/mth for 11months and take the savings to pay for Cable TV. Get more value this way with the same amount of $$. At least for the total sum of $$ paid, I get to an extra service.
  2. in the end today, without anying scre*ing, managed to transfer old number leow. unexplained reason on why past 4 to 5 calls all stated transfer is not allowed but now ok. anyway its good that its solved : )
  3. err thats funny, that is what they told me that the telephone exchange is different so my old number of 6474 xxxx cannot be transferred over......**** this bunch of people. i will probably call them to screw them abit harder maybe it will work this time.
  4. does any one mind tellin me how do the fixed line numbers look like for Blk 89/90/91? i called up singtel and the number provided is 6323 xxxx or 6227 xxxx
  5. my below statements are not meant to be racist but in general hor n factual to me : ) 1. Look at who does the area cleaning - Foreign workers from Bangladesh 2. For those who have been to India and Bangladesh, the conditions in 90% of the country is worst then almost any part of Singaporea here. The living conditions, the roads, etc are all sub-standard in Singapore context. 3. These Foreign workers grew up in the native country and are so tuned and accustomed to their environment so when they get to Singapore to work, despite whatever training, expectations and instructions given to them, it will not be easy to raise their bar so they take it easy when doing area cleaning lor. Stains on floor and walls to them are normal.
  6. i have boxes, probably at the moment around 6 or more, they are not very big but fair size to put stuff in yet able to be moved around without giving way and mangeable.
  7. haha i am more blessed as i tend to survive all these rougher trips......how i did it? in my earlier singapore days, i was a very easy going on food hygiene (though i grumble alot of the quality and taste of food), food that drop on floor at home, i'd pick it and eat it (wo washing) hahaha, in public, food tat drops on tables, etc, i did still pick and eat it hahaha. sometimes i did eat with my hands without washing my hands too..... i know this makes me sound like a glut.
  8. i maybe bitched with the following reply but these are my sincere thoughts and I am not biased to any org : ) while we may b.i.t.c.h big time over the prices of public apartments in singapore, as a whole, we as singaporeans are one big bunch of lucky jokers, the ratio of food cost to income is low, ratio of public transportation to income is low, ratio of housing to income is moderate, ratio of cost of education to income is low (at least for local education) and of course lets ignore private vehicles as this is totally understandable with our land scarce island. we dont have to know much and far, just compare to our closest neighbours for the above mentioned ratios (i.e. Malaysia and Indonesia), you will realise my point. if you have had the opportunity to travel extensively to various parts of the world, you did appreciate how blessed we are. i would like to end with this food for thought: just imagine if our foreparents did not make a trip from china decades ago to singapore or maybe malaysia, we would not be where we are today. we probably be part of the bunch waiting for Olympics 2008 or riding bicycles to and fro daily amidst the smog : ) i am sure very appreciative of where i am today despite our hot humid environment as i had jus and am still experiencing 1degreeC working/shopping/eating environment where heater isnt utilised due to poverty.
  9. S$1k will not be able to get you an AVR with speakers for a basic 5.1 setup unless these are pre-owned. even if u up the ante to S$2k or S$3k, this budget will not be able to allow you to use the HT for Karaoke purposes as the features are totally different not to mention the high probability to damage the speakers. if u are after looks more then Sound Quality, go for the HTiB setup.....if you are after Sound Quality, stay as far as you can from HTiB : ) so you have the decide what you want first.....also please do not forget to factor in $$ for wires and speaker stands/mounts. these typically take around 10% to 15% of your total hardware cost (conservative)
  10. i have been there 3x and also met many K-nationals here in my ex line of work and i think i know wat u mean but don worry, when u ever get to Korea, you will personally experience a unique experience
  11. is there a relation that is being attempted to relate smell to koreans?
  12. jus trying to collate before proceeding with some "noise" to the necessary authorities, in particular for those who drive.... in the MSCP (multi storey car park blk 88), how many have had your vehicles vandalised or have heard of vehicles being vandalised with or without theft involved? i personally have heard at least 3 cases and am beginning to get worried to leave my vehicle in the MSCP overnight when i finally move in..... i even had a thought of laying trap to catch the culprit involved but may need quite alot of effort and persistence manz.
  13. e bulb brands are actually printed on the light holder.....
  14. one is high pressure and one is low pressure (so its normal). in layman, one is carrying the cold gas to cool the room, the other is the return to the compressor that is not so cool anymore after loosing its coolness.
  15. sounds like crap.....my mit inverter went out through the window...my mit non inverter also went out through the window. unless u are talkin about a sys 4?
  16. precisely, take it easy, target for OT everyday better right?
  17. i would put it slightly differently, whatever they say we have to pay...... we have not second option.....so why bother : )
  18. E 80/20 rule always apply, 80% of the ID's are just predators waiting to pounce on their preys, the easier to pounce the better so the less effort required to satisfy their hunger this analogy in renovation terms be, the less work the ID puts in with the best results is Good. Something that has a higher probability of failure or multiple reworks is a No-Go as it will definitely reduce the ID's bottomline.....nonetheless there are the exceptions but not many.
  19. has it been mounted before? let me know ur target price?
  20. whether or not there would be a power trip from existing lighting point, I am unable to comment as I am not certified electrician but based on basic electrical theory it should not exceed the current/power rating (P=VI, Theoretical Power is 240Volt x 13amp = 3120Watt, thus if you have 36W downlights, you can do your math on the number of downlights permitted ) however giving the benefit of doubt to your electrician/contractor/ID, they are right to not conceal the wiring as it is against the rules/regulations of HDB. my guess is the reason for them to split the wiring is for you to be able to turn on/off only a certain "group" of downlights instead of turning on all 12 at one go : ) Happy Deepavali, relak n go chill : )
  21. ur problem is easy, if you want to have sound from your audio system while watching tv programmes, you will have to have a pair of RCA (Red/White) cables to connect your TV Audio Out to an available Audio Input on your Audio system. if you want to be able to watch DVD's with sound from your TV but not from your Audio setup, you will either need to use a HDMI cable direct from your DVD player to TV or RCA + Video cable from DVD to TV. i know it sounds easy here when described....u try to figure out what i mean : )
  22. after all this talk, despite having a nice full dinner at 7PM, i went to Magaret Drive Hawker Center for a nice warm packet of Char Kuey Teow at 9.45PM with a big warm bowl of Red Bean Soup....made my night so nice with deep snooze !! that day while these bhangladeshi work, it reminds me so clearly of how army personnel work with eye power.....i witnessed the exact culture while they were carting packs of tiles up to my place....reminds me of the good old days
