  1. i personally prefer Plasma over LCD as the closest you can get to a CRT standard is Plasma....blacks are darker, etc.... also LCD tends to be grainy when picture quality is poor. however, if you are a greenie, Plasma's will tend to be unfriendly to your monthly utilities bill so its a trade off but what the hack, i hardly watch tv, maybe only 30minutes a week so makes almost no diff lar
  2. yes, i have moved in for about a month leow.....PM me when you wanna come by, avoid weekdays as i have lots of night meetings so over the weekend is better but time is dynamic
  3. bro or sis, please ignore me, i was just joking.....absolutely no basis to what i said.....jus having fun cos it is fri leow
  4. itz almost fri evening so crack some nonsense here: $300 hacking is done by bangladesheeee..... $8000 hacking is done by singaporean.........
  5. bro, as mentioned, the quality of cable is the key, the cable must have good shielding with good termination. 10meters of cable signal will not be detrimental to the losses in dB's. if you do not mind, just spend some $$ to buy a good cable and trial n error, you will know the difference by re-routing the SCV point will effectively also mean running a longer cable then is what is available currently, so do ponder over it end state is total cable length is going to be the same, it is either via extension of coaxial cable externally or internally
  6. 2nd that choice, i have been using huper optik for my past 3 cars and currently also using huper optik - ceramic30 series for all 3 bedrooms and reflecktor20 for my kitchen. difference with and without solar film is night and day despite hdb providing tinted glass panels.
  7. not to mention also if you are planning to use signal booster: you should use only industrial-quality cable TV amplifiers (not available at retail) should be used to amplify weak signals. Cheaper ones, sold at general retail stores, often cause more problems. but typically, if your cable is of good shielding properties with a good tight seal for the connector, alot of "noise" could potentially be eliminated.
  8. bro, scrap those cables u buy from neighbourhood shop and maybe even harvey norman, if you need lengths longer then what HDB provided, go to LHS at Sim Lim and get them to customise using Belden Coaxial cables...proper termination n shielding is very important for such cables as they pick up alot of "noise" (i.e. EMC). i will be making a trip to LHS myself to get speaker cables for my rear speakers so if u want to tompang the purchase i did be glad to help just don fly aeroplane on the end product if you need standard length type, i have enuff to spare - let me know
  9. i do not stay at #xx-326 but i am really intrigued to know you are able to feel the temperature difference between general ambient and directly outside #xx-326 but if i were to interpret in another way, you probably felt a lack of wind as this time of the year, the wind is blowing from the south side so when you stand outside of #xx-326, the direct wind has been blocked by #xx-322. unless u tell me that their door is open and you felt a general difference, this would be amazing unless they are baking big time in their kitchens side note: on the contrary, if the #xx-326 door was marginally open which does not give you sufficient inside view but occupants are having their air-conditioners turned on, would you have said this unit is pretty good, no difference in temperature wor
  10. bro, toppin up ~S$450cash monthly cum very little CPF balance is a situation which is very nerve wrecking. however now that u have signed the option to purchase, pretty much non-reversible as you have shown your committment leow. only option is to try to make more $$ in the shortest time to eliiminate your huge liability its friday time to
  11. Call Queenstown NPP @ 1800 471 9999. Their response time is at least 20minutes cos blk 91 has more trees n plants
  12. Bro, November 2008 is not here yet wor I know you meant November 2007 anyway
  13. imo the flourescent lightings are kinda expensive.....but well, what is paid is paid, no turning back to decide reasonable or not as you have absolutely no course of recourse.
  14. i would ask u what is the performance trend for your 20k investment. how much can you 20k reap in terms of profits versus the loan interest on your principal. which gives you better returns? then decide if it is better to hold on to your investment or use it as additional downpayment. however, if your plan is to leave this 20k as a buffer for your monthly loan installments then it is a different consideration process altogether. my personal process is to pay up for liability as quickly as possible so you are not worried about your employer or the economy holding you at ransom
  15. i do not think any of us forummer on this thread belong to that category of resident but all said and done, it just boils down to one thing....Civic Counsciousness, 95% of Singaporeans lack this attribute On the Road = Instead of stepping on the brake pedal to slow down, they either blare the horn, highbeam or close up the gap (depending on situation) Public Transport = 0 level of graciousness to give up a space to those who require it more, instead, always rushing and pushing Public Housing = Rubbish strewn everywhere Public Eating Places = Sit down and hang in there (makan accomplished) despite knowing that there are people waiting for tables in a busy place filled with food goers Shopping Centers = After picking out perishables with special storage requirements (Freezer or Chiller), such items can be left anyway other then back where they came from. If you just look at different peoples home, some homes just age significantly faster then another. This tells you the way they carry on life and with any attention being paid to details leow.
  16. in an estate like ours with extreme diversity in our backgrounds, what has been highlighted is to be expected. for a more serene environment, punggol estate are one of the nicer ones albeit its relative distance to town. anyway there arent many civic counscious hdb owners out there, i have personally seen the immediate corridor or residents littered with so much foreign objects yet they are able to continue to walk in and out of the door in pure oblivion. there are also residents who share the common rubbish bin area without any respect for other users either by just leaving their trash on the ground or disposing them in an improper manner. when will these people wake up from their sleepwalk that this is their estate and not a public place? whatever filth they add will mean they will also live amidst these filth....pure amazing sometimes just take a look at the way pedestrains walk along the drive way from blk 88 towards blk 90....damnz, there is a newly constructed pedestrian walkway but these limkangpoots choose to walk on the road and put risk to drivers (i am assuming their life = worthless and meaningless so not mentioning about it) again my 1cent worth on a hot/bright monday, grouching away again
  17. sir, there is no coolant utilised in air-conditioning
  18. how about changing job to work at the Yishun/Sembawang area instead than you may also say that "it is so easy to go to work"
  19. i will give a crude response from my side on this.... firstly, what are your priorities of your flat? location/serenity/price/etc..... judging from your concerns, unless we have misunderstood your priorities but it seems very much that Tanglin Halt units are not suitable for you as we all have noise (i.e MRT train running through the track, KTM train blaring horn and running through), school, (i.e. temporary site and the forthcoming permanent primary school) facing or not you also can hear all the announcements, etc...., sun (i.e for units not affected by afternoon sun will already not be available for Ballot. All the SERS members have snapped them up unless you are looking at #02 or #03, etc) i would urge you to look elsewhere rather then select your apartment in dilema with a heavy heart. my 1cent worth on a grouchy monday morning
  20. i can sell to you mine which is direct from HDB, Aluminum and sturdy unlike the Aluminum ones that are sold outside
  21. that is very impressive that u can unpack 90% manz.....i moved in 2 weeks leow, with 25% yet to be unpacked (still in boxes) and 15% (old house) yet to move over or should i say pack to be ready to move.... !!
  22. In the survey, I made a very crude statement and yet still did not get a response from HDB too. "Is there a need to conduct a survey to gather feedback about anomalies yet not being bothered to contact the owners on resolution. Is this a waste of your and our time"
  23. yes it is true, sound travel upwards very well and the higher the sound freq, the more likely you would be able to hear it
  24. well honestly both the 5 room units are very oddly laid out by the architects with 2RM and 1RM exclusively in another corner. the reason for this is because on the lower floors, the layout belongs to 2 seperate smaller units thus on the upper floors all that is being done is to merge this 2 units to form a 5room unit thus having to live with an odd layout.
