Just bought a flat in Yishun Central, a 20 year old estate. Wondering if most of u guys changed all the floor & wall tiles? Cos I might not be changing but afraid they will pop up years later...

Mrs Quek called me & said the quotation is ready, will email me... That's fast, only 2 days...

Recently, saw news report on HDB water leakage due to the flat above was doing hacking work in toilet... For such cases, who shld bear the repair cost? Contractors or owner?

Next will be how soon can Patrick revert with the quotation.

Just called Mrs QUEK, she's friendly... When I asked if fax has been received for my list & floorplan, she said " the yishun one right..." Was surprised by her answer, cos it was yesterday noon when I faxed & only called her this morning... She still remember. hee...

After reading thru all pages, might wana engage Patrick to do renovation. Called him just now, he seems busy... when asked if he's okay to meet up & was advised to call his wife at 67885841. Mrs Quek answered & said he was booked the whole week... asked me to fax or email my floor plan & requirement, then Patrick will revert on the quotation. Dunno if I shld email or fax, which is the fastest way?

i'm back to this thread again... I just went to an incense shop where the uncle got the tong shu which can help to see a gd date for door opening... He said lunar 8th month day 4 as it doesnt clash with the animal sign of me & my hubby. He also mentioned can dongtu too... but the procedures he said seems diff fr wat I hv read fr forums... - buy 7 'gum', put 2 in hand, 5 for praying - when open door, roll 2 gum into the hse & say good things... - take the 'sia liu' leaves, put in water & sprinkle... no salt & rice grains mentioned. - Use hammer to knock once or twice at 1 corner of the hse & say kai gong lor Duno if these procedures are ok too?

OT abit... What is the diff between plastered & painting?

so is it to install aircon half way thru the reno or before reno starts if I'm not getting my own contractor to do it?

i think i agar noe wat is backsplash liao... Isit got ppl use stainless steel too? but seems not cheap... So if i wana hack away the wall tiles, but no laying tiles for all walls. I can paint the walls but the side that require cooking, will use backsplash & tiles... is it ok?

I'm not doing my whole flat floor tiles, but will have cornices at all rooms. Will be doing own painting, shld I wait for all the reno to be done 1st then start painting? Also, shld we hand the main door keys to contractors? Accordingly to HDB, we shld not, but we cant be open the door for them everyday rite?

I dunno much abt reno so wana ask for comments... also scare got hidden charges... This is a neighbourhood reno coy i found.

I just paid my 3 months conservancy fees Sep - Nov 07 on the day I colelcted my keys... They have enclosed a GIRO form for further deduction from Dec 07 onwards, so when should I submit the GIRO form? Isit too early to submit in this month... scared they deduct double.

so can i say once i asign the agreement of lease, i will be in the scheme?

May I know when to start to apply for HPS? On the day when u sign the agreement of lease or can sign up thru CPF website?

erm... we did went to view the flat with the BO a week after we selected the flats... it seems ok... They changed the back windows (kitchen, MBR, bedroom 1), repainted the walls, tile are ok, toilet bowl & sink thou looks old but cannot test if got leakage cos no water supply. He promised to change the kitchen sink as it was abit dirty... I also dunno what to look out for if I were to go in again... Hee...

Thanks for the advise. After discussing with hubby, he prefer to open after seventh month.

I'm afraid i hv to submit defects to HDB within a week after collection of keys, means the door opening will be in seventh mth.
