I, myself also think that hood doesnt help much but my kitchen cabinets is just abv my hob so no choice have to get one... Most likely, my hood will be built in my cabinets but duno if is good idea... means if i need to clean, i have to open the cabinet doors... like that will take up one space from my kitchen cabinets.

Wee Theng, I DIY my whole unit's wall... cos have the grinder... If u wana grind urself, pls wear a mask, towel to wrap ur head & those eye mask (sound like for beauty care, duno what's that call)... else you will inhale the dust, ur hair full of dust which will be difficult to wash off & makes ur eyes itchy... Another disgusting thing is ur nostril hair will be white... LOL... That's what happened to my husband.... We used 2 days just to grind, putty-ing, sandpaper to smooth the surface... *faint*

I also wana use the cut out granite from my sink to use as vanity top but my contractor said cannot cos the cut out piece is too small, my vanity top is abt 2ft...

I need help on utilities bill issues... I just opened a new acct in mid sep... my bill cycle is on 26th... In sep's bill, my bill was only $106 ($100 deposit) with 3kWh electricity, those refuse, sanitary appliance, etc included... For the whole month of Oct till now, i din even step into my new house... but the electricity reading was 402kWh!!! cost me $85.30!!! I called up SP, they explained on the estimated reading based on last month usage x nos of days & submission on every even month... i still hv to pay & no offset... Can i ask for any waiver? cos i'm paying for something that i did not use at all...

I confirmed engaging Ho Bee... Maybe mine is a small scale reno, not overhaul whole flat, just mainly on kitchen & toilets, doors & windows... Patrick told me will take around 4-5 weeks... Once i choose my tiles & met up with Ah Keong (report to wk today after hospitalised for a week) for discussion on kitchen carpentry, he can start wk liao... Like to ask those who have engaged Ho Bee & take up bank loan, u will take the final quotation & go to bank for approval right? Meeting Patrick tmr again, it was really nice of him to fetch us & bring us to go to see his ongoing projects... I just asked Mrs Quek if is convenient for Patrick to fetch us, she said no problem...

Just saw the units on Bi-monthly sale for Sector A. JW has lotsa exec flat, prices range from $280K - $310K... When HDB launches such units, ppl tend to apply if 4/5 rooms have been taken up, thus more loan. Saw in my paper today on questions on why nowadays, HDB flats are so expensive & young couple might not be to afford. Not all couples have high income, even those with combined income >$8k, they are not able to buy HDB flats, have to turn to private housing. I got my flat in Apr Bi-monthly sale for Yishun, 5 room 122 sqm for $198k, today i saw a unit just opposit my block, same floor, same sqm as me, selling $231k. Just 6 months, the value went up by $33k! Is HDB also following the propert market boom too?

Guys, u all are right... It is just a flat piece of 6ft, 20mm thick. No extra "hook" (dunno wat to call that) to hold onto the cabinet. Check with contractors, they said will do extra like cutting out to fit into sink or stove support & theirs are thicker, double the thickness.

hmm... if the workmanship is good, maybe will try.

My hubby met up with Patrick ytd evening... i din meet cos last min ot... Accordingly to hubby, they managed to hit off well. Patrick gives suggestions on wat to do & not to do... Like my compressed marble, cos need to replace some damaged ones. Patrick said cant find liao straight away, no more available in the market liao... unlike some contractors said can try to find. When I went down to Hafary & SBH. all said dun hv such marble liao... Thumbs up for his knowledge. He said will give me my final quotation this sat... patiently wait cos he's in my top shortlisted contractors.

Mine is sink support nia... nvm, tonight i will ask patrick abt this thingy...

Saw ur quotation on the sink & stove, exp wor... My other contractor quoted $650 only.
