  1. Just to say .... I was looking for a new bathroom door .... I read this post, so contacted both Ministry of Door and Champion Republic. I found Ministry of Door service much better, and also they have authentic branded doors and warranties. I spoke to Rachael on the phone numerous times, and she is very helpful. So, I have ordered through them. For others looking for potential new doors, I recommend have a check out of Ministry of Door's facebook page, because it shows photos of many satisfied customers doors after installation. Also, another place I found very helpful was Nan Huat Windows and Doors. Their prices are similar to Ministry of Door, however, their range of designs is more limited. This is why I chose Ministry of Door, and I look forward to seeing the final result!
  2. I chose solid surface, because I worried about the gas emissions from natural stones like granite and the chinese quartz too (I am a rock engineer, so I know what emissions are safe and unsafe). Caesarstone is lovely and safe, but so $$$$. I may as well get solid surface, and replace it in a few years, rather than Caesarstone. I would love to get Caesarstone in my dream kitchen which I know I will live in for the rest of my life, but until then, no point. Solid surface in a light colour won't show scratches, and, many of the brands come with a free polisg within 10 years, which will remove any scratches and stains.
  3. So many stores on Jalan Besar which have these .... maybe just wander between them all.... Ikea also looks fancy, but I am sure the neighbourhood stores are cheaper and better quality.
  4. We have some in our place which we are taking down (in living room, dining room, kitchen and bedroom).... they are dark brown coloured with horizontal grill. I can PM you pictures if interested.
  5. Price seems to be around $10psf. I contacted LeGate, Invisgrille and Decorille. Pricing is similar for all of them actually, although Legate and Insisigrille were much more prompt in answering my email and visiting than Decorille (actuallty Decorille never even visited to measure, they just sent an email quote). I want to do an invisible grill with a mosquito netting, and I haven't found a way to do this. I have casement type windows, so the handles seems to be an issue. ALso, the invisible grille is fixed and cannot be opened up, so it makes it even more difficult to find the right mosquito screen. Anyone managed to do this successfully?
  6. Maybe you might consider the Elba hood / hob? It can be reasonably strong chimney, and I've seen used in open plan before. I wouldn't use the Elba oven though (Bosch is much better if you care about your baking!!!). You can get good price on Elba from either Mega Discount Warehouse, or Poh Joo. Also, this brand EF is the same as Elba, but is manufactured in China, not Europe, so the finishing is not as good. It depends on your budget. I've used Elba for 6+ years and had no problems.
  7. Gorgeous Yes!! But, is this practical for SIngapore? It feels very "warm", especially with an open fire
  8. Yes, Rubine is good quality and can last a long time. It the same shapes / designs as Franke, but MUCH cheaper. So, you can always upgrade to Franke later on if you want to splurge $$$
  9. I found Poh Joo, based on comments in this thread from 2009. I'm pleased to say they were fantastic thanks! And the sales girl Shen Yang is still there! She does a great job. I found their knowledge of products was helpful, their range and prices very reasonable, and delivery was on time and correct. So simple to deal with! Better still, I wanted to point out that they are having a 30% off sale for next two months, to celebrate their 30 year anniversary. So, It's a great time to go there Poh Joo Hardware (389/ 391 Jalan Besar) – Look for Shen Yang (and yes, their website is very bad I agree!)
