Had not been updating the blog recently... Okay, my "site foreman" ( hubby ) went down to the flat on 22 July to spot check. Hmm... mmm the contractors are pretty fast. Waterproofing for the kitchen and toilets already done. Whole house already plastered and the tiling works for the toilet already done. Even the wooden frame for the kitchen entrance also up. 1. Kitchen sink at site ( Foster brand from SSC) 2. Balcony Levelled 3. Wooden frame at Kitchen Entrance ( for the wooden bifold door ) 4. Toilet wall and flooring tilings done

Just a quick update on my house reno process... Currently the contractors are doing tiling works for the kitchen and toilets walls. As of 17 July 08, already 90 percent completed. The air con piping from the study room to balcony down pipe had been laid and conceal up with cement already. The walls for the study room and common rooms already plastered. The width of the kitchen entrance already widen and the toilet entrance also shifted. The basin walls had been built for both toilets. The contractor was telling my DH yesterday that they will be proceeding with the water proofing of toilets flooring today and once the tiling work for the kitchen had been done, the carpenter will come down and take all the necessary measurements for the cabinets, wardrobes, partitions etc. Balcony had been levelled up already... HI Aves, thanks for your well wishing. HI Bunbun, this one i had no worries because they are unidentical twins. So they will have different look My DH also glad, they are unidentical. Hi skywolf, Yupz! Confirm both are ger ger already Oh yes, the hacking work finish already, today they will be laying the tilings for the toilets. The contractor ask my hubby whether we want to lay the tiles straight or diagonally... After looking at the existing common toilet and my PIL's MBR toilet, we think, lay straight better. Look neater and bigger. Hahahahah!!! Hi wolverine, St 84 is very near my place, I am staying at St 81. I understand that the previous owner (1st owner) got it at ard $165K and now they make a killing by selling it to us! My agents also told me now that area all the valuation went up drastically and say we are lucky to close this deal. Hahaahh!!! East area is a nice place... but need sometime to adapt tampines area. Cos currently we are living near marine parade area.

Hi Bunbun Yupz, me expecting twins... both are girls. Hehehe! So i will have 3 "monkeys" at home in future... so whole hse will baby proof. My #1 is a boy.

Hi mr Lam, Hey! Congrates to you too!! Finally 1st appt over so when is ur 2nd appt? Hm... mm no choice, if the owner is okay, then give in to them. My case is super urgent because I am due in Oct... so by hook or by crook I cannot extend too long. Pertaining to your questions :- 1) We actually dun really bother abt the final inspection because we are overhauling the whole house. So no point to pin point here and there. Mainly check for crack ceilings or water leakage on ceilings... window grilles fixtures. Cos the rest we are changing. 2) Yes, we relocate our basin design... even air con trunking design also. Cos I am using system 4 so, they had to do additional piping link from study to balcony downpipe. The plumber actually advise us whether is it feasible or not to do this and that... so we are assure. We are not using any storage heater because our pipings are not concealed into the walls... so with a mixer and expose pipes... will look OR BIANG! 3) WE been to one place only recommended by our contractor ( related so trust him ) and that is Lian Hin Seng, off Jalan Dusun ( balestier road ). WE like the design... and hubby too. We din stay there too long because long before we choose the tiles... we already know what we want, so it is simple for us. Hi Bun Bun, hahahaha!! I think so .... but i think they are pretty fast. The contractor even guarantee my hubby 1st week aug, everyting will be completed. Yesterday they finish all the hacking work and will be clearing the debris off site. I think tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, the air con contractor will be here to lay the extra piping from study to balcony downpipes... before they level the balcony. My hubby was shiok when he see the house in this state and he was like " OMG!" he is wearing slippers... hahahahahaah!!

Hi Bunbun, ya the heaters are quite alright. We need the water heater for our 3 kids. 2 infants and 1 toddler... if not, I think we can live without water heater. Hahahah! Our contractor had already start hacking on the 04 July afternoon. Yesterday hubby went up and meet the new carpentry ppl and to inspect how is the hacking work done. Already 80% done except for the 2 common rooms and the wall of the balcony and kitchen. The rest completely disfigure... hahahah! Oh ya, the ugly arc still there and they will be tearing it down on Monday.

Skywolf, just show the locksmith the SP letter ( transfer electric and water one ) or IC. It cost me $50 to change the lock. My hubby bought 2 x 707 Protek instant heater. Cos many people were telling us since our kitchen sink all these no need hot water, then might as well get instant one. Hubby also think so too. Cos water heater is use to heat up water for bathing only. Then we went back SSC and look for taps with no mixer but sad to say, most of it comes with mixer. The only thing we save is on the shower mixer and shower head set. The contractor suppose to start work today, then hubby call them and ask if they going to start work today. Guess what the contractor told my hubby... " NO, tomorrow start work cos he short handed!" What the **** is this... in fact all along I am not happy that he engage this contractor... Me prefer Ho bee... more systematic or other IDs. This contractor is so called my Sister in law's boyfriend father. .. Quotation all rough figures... chase him for actual final amt... keep saying will not exceed this and that. My DH also another kind one... simi also y76chin chye chin chye..

Hi bunbun and skywolf, Anyway, I think there are always blacksheep out there... so today, while we go back new house pray pray and "dong tu", I got a locksmith to change the entire lock! HEHEHEHE!! See how they open the letter box! If they can force it open... CHAMPION!! Me going to make police report. Yesterday DH and I already went police station to change our address to this new home address... so anything funny from them, will make police report liao. Skywolf, we decided to use instant water heater since we got no "pom pom" and also our sink all these dun require hot water. Just now went down to SSC, got 2 sets of the 707 protek water heater with copper tank. Electricity consumption also not high, check with the staff, they say 3 kilowatts. Today "dong tu" really bo eng, ask hubby to knock the floor "yi si yi si" he go and hack away one piece of tile... zzzz

Although I cannot go site to see the progression, my ah lao will be the site foreman and go up and "spot check"! Yesterday he took a lot of pics of the vacant house... and guess what, something piss us off... the owner never surrender every of their keys. They still have keys for their letter box but never tell us at all We getting locksmith to change the lock of the letterbox tomorrow. Yes!! Yes!! Hack hack!! Oh yah, the bedrooms' and study room door still can be slavage.. so we are not changing anymore.

Hi Bun bun, Yupz, we are going to hold off the reno until we get the keys this Friday. Already inform our contractor about the whole situation. I dun really know what is going on... either the owner does really want to play us out and refused to help us sign the indemnity form or they really got something on. But if they really do have something crop up, I think they should have at least inform the agents... and not to make ppl wait for them for one hour plus at night. If they really dun feel comfortable signing the indemnity letter for the reno, i think they also should tell us before hand when we ask them... and not to drag here and there. hiaz... Yes, 2nd inspection is a requirement by HDB. They wanted us to make sure the whole house is vacant and the owner's things are no longer there. There will be a declaration form for us to sign that we already inspect the house and there are nothing there etc... so officer told us if they din turn up for the 2nd inspection on thursday night, friday before signing the completion letter, the officer will give us time to go down and look at the house before signing off. hiaz... troublesome.... y there are such kind of ppl. Btw, the owner and wife got those faces... HAHAHAHAH!!
